Session 3 question

I’ll be taking MATH1010 in Session 3 this year, but I might miss the first 2 weeks due to a family trip. Will that be an issue? Is attendance a hurdle? I’d love to hear from anyone who’s taken a Session 3 unit before.

Help & advice with one of my units (ACCG2051 Governance, Business and Corporations Law)

Hello, everyone.

I am currently in my 2nd-year studying the Bachelor of Business (Major in Business Administration) and I need help and advice for the Governance, Business and Corporations Law unit (ACCG2051) as I am struggling with it, I really am afraid that I will not pass the unit this session.

Could anyone please help and give me advice on what I should do at this moment?

Looks Maxx Soc ?

Hey guys I’m lowkey trying start a looksmaxxing soc if anyone’s interested. I’ve been watching androgenic and I lowkey got this stuff figured out. I feel like we can ascend everyone with advice providing sessions ( no hate just constructive looksmaxxing advice)

For context I was previously a 5’10 LTN and I got double jaw surgery and Masai jumps. Now I can proudly say with my head held up high that I’m a 6’1 Chad-lite with a PSL of 7.75, ( which is higher than Marlon) and I can bench a Toyota Camry

its Never Over 😄

All 4 exams in week 1 of exam block and I am 8 weeks behind…

Can anyone give some useful advice on what to do in my situation 😭 I’ve somehow ended up 8 weeks behind in all 4 of my units and I have a 50% exam for each one of them in the first week of the exam block.

I am TRYING SO HARD to get on top of my notes and the content but am having the worst procrastination known to man and am stuck trying to figure out the best way to tackle it all in time now so that I can at least just pass.

How to stop your group assignment partners from ghosting the shared document?

We have a massive presentation worth thirty percent of our final mark due this Friday and two of my team members haven't typed a single word in the shared slides since week eight. They ignore every message in the group chat but you just know they will show up on the morning expecting equal credit for the work

Macquarie Cybersecurity/IT Social Life & Career Opportunities?

Hey everyone,

I’m currently studying a Bachelor of ICT at Western Sydney University, majoring in Cyber Security, and I’ve been thinking ahead about possibly doing further study at either Macquarie University or UTS after I graduate.

My long-term goal is to build both my career and social circle a bit more, so I’m looking for an environment that’s strong in cybersecurity/IT but also has a good student atmosphere where it’s easier to meet people, make friends, network, and grow professionally.

I just wanted to ask current or past students:

- How’s the social life at Macquarie overall?

- Is it easy to meet people and make friends there?

- What’s the environment/vibe like compared to other unis?

- How are the cybersecurity and IT courses in terms of teaching quality, workload, practical skills, and industry preparation?

- Do you feel the uni has good networking/opportunities for internships or jobs?

- Would you recommend Macquarie or UTS more for someone wanting a strong cybersecurity/security-focused pathway?

Would especially appreciate thoughts from people studying cybersecurity, networking, software, or general IT.

Thanks heaps :)

Any chance for a first-year student to get an office job?

Hi, I’m a first-year student at MQ, but I’m currently 20 years old. I’ve worked some hospitality jobs to cover my living expenses, but then I realized they don’t really provide experience that would help with my future career. They also make me feel super tired. I want to find an office job, even if it’s not related to my major. Is it possible? And what kinds of office jobs are usually open to international first-year students?

Session 2 Unit enrolment

Uhh how accurate is the unit guide? Because I'm a first year student planning my next session and I genuinely cannot see my units being offered for session 2? Has it just not updated yet or what's going on? I followed the recommended course outline aswell, I'm confused as to why the first year units are not showing up

I HATE GROUP ASSIGNMENTS

Currently doing my 2nd assignment for PSYU2236 and its a 10 minute presentation group assignment, however it can't just be a normal presentation, it has to be formatted like a podcast or interview etc idfk. It is purely a group mark, not a chance of an individual mark. My group members and I all agreed on which parts we'd each write for the script.

At this point, only 2 out of 5 of us have written our parts, when 1 member decides to send a script and its purely AI SLOP!! none of our info we had written is in it but the worst part nobody seems to care except me!! I hate the purpose of group assignments so much, its so unfair. I sent a message to the chat asking about where all our info had gone and it seems very AI only to get a response back telling ME to edit it then. I then spent the next 2 hours going through and editing as much as I could so it doesnt seem AI and it actually makes sense, however im in 2 mindsets of

  1. I really don't want to fail this unit since I already failed the 1st assignment so I should just push through and do it
  2. Theres 4 other members and I shouldn't have to do their parts for them just because they don't care

just another rant I'm posting here as I'm sure we're all in the same boat of frustration and stress with these last few weeks before exams. Ive honestly given up with this unit and just accepted I'm going to fail. This is my 2nd group assignment for a presentation, and theyve both ended up this exact way, at least with the first one there was an individual one.

If you are someone who copy and pastes straight from chatgpt into a GROUP ASSIGNMENT, just know your group members do not appreciate your contribution

anyways, what doesnt kill you makes u stronger xx

COGS1000 tutor - should I report weird/humiliating comments?

Hi wondering if anyone knows the tutor I'm referring to without mentioning their name/identity for privacy so please maintain this if you comment. Should I make an anonymous complaint?

This tutor has been very moody, rejects answering questions in a pretty rude way. Has made humiliated students in front of the entire class for 'not knowing' content, or not paying attention for pracs, despite rushing through information. One time they humiliated a student by telling them to leave because they were simply coughing, and went full-on into a 'I have a right to feel safe in my workplace under the law, and so if you are sick please leave' with this very condescending tone. I'm sorry, can students not clear their throat in your class?

Of course, I have no idea about their personal life, or what their job stress is like and that's probably the main driver here, but feel like all students should feel really comfortable asking questions and not feel intimidated into acting a certain way.

When this tutor is not being micro-aggressive, they are very knowledgeable and have lots of valuable experience to share, so I don't want to ensure consequences nor do I want to have to share my feedback to them in person, so whatever I do it would be anonymous.

I have already put feedback in the student survey but wondering if I should take this further... I don't think they should be disciplined for this, maybe just provided some training and clarification on what is/isn't socially appropriate and emotionally regulating themselves when interacting with, yes at times naive students, but ultimately students who just want to learn...

Past Degrees

Hello all,

I am currently a Macquarie University student studying a double degree in Electronics Engineering and Applied Physics. I am interested in applying for a master’s program at Imperial College London after I graduate, but I had a question regarding academic transcripts and previous study.

Before starting my current degree, I was enrolled in another degree program where my academic performance was not as strong. In my current degree, however, I am performing very well. I wanted to ask whether my previous degree would appear on my transcript or be considered when applying for postgraduate study. If so, would it negatively affect my application, even if my current academic performance is strong?

Additionally, if I were to transfer to another university and complete my degree there, would my previous academic record still appear on the transcript for my new degree, or would only the units completed at the new university be shown?

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Has anyone actually used the campus wellbeing services for exam stress?

I am feeling incredibly overwhelmed with the upcoming assessment block and it is seriously starting to affect my sleep. I know the uni has the Student Wellbeing Accessibility team over in the central building, but what is the actual process like to get support? Do they just give you a generic pamphlet on time management, or can they actually help you organize a supplementary exam arrangement?

Thinking of hosting an alumni event of wailing and despair

We'll meet outside the lake at 4 am, bring some lawn chairs, a picnic blanket and some snacks. We will scream in agony at this cruel world.

We will weep together and feed our tears into the lake.

We will look back at our younger, hopeful selves with grief and bitterness.

Hey, remember when you were young and about to go to uni? You thought you'd develop lifelong friendships here and get skills that will help you stand out in the workplace. Oh, how naive you were.

So yeah let's be sad together. Bluetooth speaker might help. We can play MCR and eat a mud cake while sobbing about the job market.

Flexible unit choices?

Heya.

For context, I'm a final year student studying psych and cogs (RIP).

I have my singular (and only) flexible unit for session 2 this year and I'm struggling to find something.

I'm not looking for a bludge unit (marks aren't an issue). Just something break up the medical and pace units I'm doing.

If anyone has a unit they really enjoyed the content of, or something that just felt fun. I would really appreciate any suggestions.

Units with prerequisites are a no go, but I have done comp-1000 as part of my degree.
