How many days does the admission department take to respond

I received my conditional offer letter within a day I fulfilled the conditions and wrote them back with the documents but I’ve not heard from them ever since it’s been around 6 days .

I got back from other universities but I’m waiting for mac cause it’s my 1st priority. I need to start my visa process asap.

Attendance

Hello,

One of my unit requires 10 out of the 13 weeks tutorial attendance, what will happen if i go below 10? And also there is a marking rubric for active participation but its non-graded expectation. What does it mean? If I won’t meet this requirement am i gonna fail or will they mark me harsher?
Thanks in advance!

Session 3 elective units

I was wondering if anyone can answer my question.. would I be allowed to take 1 unit ( elective unit) in session 3 to lower my study load in session 1 2027? I’m a psych student and was just wondering as my third year core units are going to get a bit harder and 1 less unit would probably ease my stress ( also preferably units that don’t cost 2k)

Finance vs applied finance - What’s the difference?

I’ve been planning to study the bachelors of applied finance for 2027, however was told if you aren’t trying to get into IB it’s not worth it? My interest in the finance sector is around asset management and financial planning. To any graduates or current students of these programs, what are the key differences between the two?

Regarding degree

I am going to apply to macquire for my bachelors but I’m not sure what to choose. I’m a commerce student and had Business Accounting and Economics in Alevels. I prefer something more business based supported by economics and accounting. (I’m an international student) I could really use some help if y’all could tell me degrees that might be high in demand all over the world with good pay prospects

FAMOUS?

Guys, I would like to wholeheartedly announce that I am now officially famous in the Macquarie Uni community…

Forget graduating. Forget getting a job. This is my crowning achievement! 👑🏆🥇

Thank you r/MacUni for bringing me joy during these rough exam times.

I will not be taking any questions at this time as I adjust to life in the public eye.

Trying to figure out what young Australians actually want from a money app

I'm currently at Uni and trying to build a small app called Larna. It's just me at the moment. It connects to your bank through Australia's open banking system, sorts your spending automatically, and tries to tell you something useful about it. No manual entry, no spreadsheets.

Before I build any more of it I want to know what people actually need instead of being stuck with what I assume they need. I've. tried to put together a short survey its under 5 minutes, anonymous, no bank details, nothing to sign up for.

What I'm hoping to learn: what your bank's app already does well, where it falls short, and which features are worth building versus which ones sound good and would never get used. Honest answers help me far more than encouraging ones. If something on the list sounds pointless, say so.

These answers go straight into what gets built. It'll be free for uni students. Please let me know if you have any feedback for the survey as well.

Also happy to post a summary of the results back here once responses are in.

No friends at uni

I don’t know if I’m the problem or what.. but I’m in my second year at uni studying psych and I have made 0 friends the entire time I’ve been at this uni, sure I’ve added people after we’ve done group work and stuff but after that’s all done i don’t end up speaking to any of them at all.. I’m not very much a social butterfly but it does sadden me when I walk around campus and see groups of friends enjoying their time.. anyone relate? (19f)

Can i withdraw without penalty rn?

Maybe a silly question but estudent and the Macquarie calendar are really confusing. I wanna withdraw from a unit right now even though it’s week 3, can i do that and not have to pay for the class still?

Has anyone else encountered a "thinks is intelligent but really is just waffling" student in their lectures yet? Not sure how to go about it or if the unit team can talk to them about disrupting lectures.

I won't disclose what class or which student it is, but it's an online lecture I'm enrolled in, and since week 1, there's this 1 student who always has to say their opinion no matter what and remind everyone they're doing psych in addition to this current course. They don't contribute anything insightful to the discussions in the lecture, and just try to use too many technical terms to make their answer seem "smart". Idk if I'm just being a snowflake cause I'm watching it from home and not there in person which is probably 10x more annoying for the students there, BUT, I'm finding they're disrupting the lecture. The last 3 weeks, they've had something to say, both somewhat in relation to the unit, and also not.

The first week, he tattled to the lecturer that the guy who answered the question before him was on his phone using instagram, and the lecturer full said to him it's not up to us to be monitoring what other students are using their lecture time for. This week, they had another discussion in person and after 2 people gave an answer, this person has the nerve to not only contribute with nothing related to the topic, but then called out another student by name who had apparently airdropped them something. Like dude, no one cares, people airdrop crap all the time, disable it if you're gonna disrupt the class.

Just not sure if I'm allowed to say anything to the unit team and disclose that this student is being disruptive, I swear you can hear everyone sigh when they begin their answer. I thought they would stop after week 1 and were just excited, but it just seems like they're there to prove something to no one who cares.

Juris Doctor

I’ve just started the JD this month and already considering switching to a different uni. I like Macquarie in general but really frustrated at their approach to tutorials and also requiring hand written exams. But maybe this is the case at all law schools now? Can anyone comment on whether UTS or others offer recorded tutorials and typed exams?

Session 3 classes

I’m thinking of doing a singular unit in session 3. Is it manageable? also how do they do lectures and tutorials opposed to traditional sem 1 and 2. (i’m doing session 3 cuz i dont meet pre requisite yet)

Horrible New Parking Meters Talavera RD

The new $5 per hour no daily cap parking on Talavera Rd has ruined my day.

If it's ruined yours too, leave a complaint.

cityofryde@ryde.nsw.gov.au

Not sure it will do anything, but it's definitely nice to waste Ryde council's time reading complaints. In order to win back time stolen from us.

Thanks

Cyber Security Minor rejected because I already completed COMP2310

Hi everyone,

I’m a 3rd-year Software Engineering student. I recently applied to add the Cyber Security Minor, based on the 2026 minor specifications. Based on the 2026 minor requirements for Cyber Security, I’m doing the Cryptography unit as part of my plan and already done Comp2310 Digital Forensic.

My application was rejected because I had already completed COMP2310 as part of my Flexible Zone. Service Connect said:

“COMP2310 in your Flexible Zone (and this unit cannot be allocated to the 2024 Cyber Security Minor)”

They also said that because COMP2310 has already been used in my study plan, there isn't enough space to add additional units for the minor.

The confusing part is that I applied based on the 2026 Cyber Security Minor specifications, not the 2024 version.

So I’m wondering:

  1. Has anyone successfully added the Cyber Security Minor under the 2026 requirements after already completing COMP2310?

  2. Does anyone know whether COMP2310 can count toward the 2026 Cyber Security Minor?

  3. As I still have Flexible Zone units remaining, is there any way to use those remaining units to complete the Cyber Security Minor?

  4. Has anyone been in a similar situation where they had already completed a unit that was required for a minor?

Thanks!
