Exam marks

I just got my Law exam results back — around 50% across the board. Ouch. I genuinely studied hard for them, so it stings a bit.

I’m starting to wonder if this uni marks differently compared to my previous one, because getting 50% on two separate exams feels a little too coincidental. Maybe it’s bell‑curving or some kind of grade‑hurdling. I know that happens sometimes, but I’d really like to hear other people’s experiences.

Weirdly enough, I sometimes feel like I perform better when I don’t study as much.

Given the wrong supplementary exams

Hi all,

A few weeks ago my special consideration was approved for both my units I was not able to make. Upon logging on today at 4pm (the time when the timetable was supposed to come out), I was provided with the wrong supplementary exam for one of the units. I double checked that I had applied for the correct unit.

I am unable to call service connect as their line closes at 4pm sharp and over the weekend. The 'incorrect' exam provided is in the first possible slot (Thursday morning) and I cannot go in person to Service Connect with strict commitments to attend to until Wednesday.

Can anyone assist me in providing suggestions? Thanks a lot!

Lack of academic integrity at MQ

Surely I cannot be the first person to say this but literally everyone is cheating on every online assessment. The staff clearly know and they just aren’t doing anything about it.
Why do their exams have to be on a non-lockdown browser - it was literally just on ilearn? I am appalled by the vast number of students who cheated both next to me and in front of me in this style of exams. So many students cheated it’s not even worth reporting. It’s just fact.

Anyone else tired of AI giving the same generic explanations?

Does anyone else find that AI study tools just give you the same generic summary regardless of what you already know? Would you use something that assessed your knowledge first and only explained what you actually don't understand?

Does the University we go to really impact employability?

I heard that UNSW and USYD have better opportunities than MQ but I've already completed a session here so would it be worth it to transfer? Could anyone tell me the real concrete benefits of attending a GO8 Uni over MQ? Just wondering on people's thoughts

Should I take 4 Law subjects at a time?

I am all out of my flexible units so i only have the choice of taking core or electives. I am planning on taking these subjects next semester:

LAWS2400: Torts

LAWS2500: Equity and Trusts

LAWS3300: Administrative Law

Intellectual Property law

Does anyone have any advice on this that has done the same?

what's a spot at Macquarie you ended up spending way more time at than you planned

a library corner, a cafe, somewhere on campus that just became your default. mine basically became a second home without me deciding it would. where was yours and what made it the spot?

An app that might save your uni life <3

be honest. you wake up, it's week something, you have absolutely no idea what's due, when census date is, or whether you're already cooked for this semester.

you open the student portal to check. it takes 47 years to load. you forget what you were even looking for. you close it.

made an app called WeekWise for exactly this. tells you what teaching week you're in, when your census date is, when your last day to drop is, and lets you track assignments with reminders so you stop finding out about deadlines via anxiety.

UNSW is supported. your full semester calendar loads in one tap. no manual entry.

free on the App Store. Download Now <3

I failed in 2 units in my first semester confused what to do now

I’m an international student and due to visa issues i was already really late for joining the classes missed out on assignments, not blaming everything on situation not playing victim card here. Taking up the responsibility for everything that happened. Took things lightly.
Didn’t really talk to many people in campus, was never sure what was going on faced issues outside of university too
But as this semester is already over i wanna make a comeback from here, any suggestions is welcomed any advice is appreciated. I’m not scared of overload or extra classes or fees for that matter. I just want to know if its common for students to fail units? And if it is common how to make up with it what can be done and how can i make things better from now on. DMs are opened for everyone i would really appreciate any kind of support.

Robert menzie college experinece

Hello, i am an international student considering living at robert menzie college. I don’t like cooking meals too much and i want to live on campus so it seemed like a nice place to stay. It’s also cheaper for me than Dunmore Lang.

I am 22 years old, i am social but not crazy about going out. From time to time it’s fun but definitely not my favorite activity. I am big into sports and i like to travel and do a lot of different stuff, but don’t want to live in a place where it’s parties and loud all the time. Thats why i though robert menzie could be a more quiet place to chill in the evenings after an active day

However, i am not religious and i am not to keen to live in a really christian environment.

Anyone have lived there who can tell me how it was and how much christianity plays a role in the college?

And maybe recomend me other places to live? Doesn’t have to be catered but ideally close to campus and not totally alonr

Business Analytics grads: How long did it take you to land your first job?

It’s been 3 months since I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics. I’ve submitted approximately 250 job applications (all related to my field of study), but I’ve only gotten 1 callback. They said they’d schedule a meeting with me this week, but then they ghosted me.
I’ve also had my resume reviewed and tailored to match the resumes of people I know who are already working in the industry, but I still haven’t had any positive response. Is it just me, or is the business analytics job market really tight atm?
For those who have gone through this, how did you manage it? I’m an international student, so my time is limited. Idk if I can make it before my visa expires.

Student Recruitment Event Support interview

Hi everyone, has anyone interviewed for this role or worked in a similar event support position before? I’d really appreciate any guidance on the kind of questions they usually ask, what the role is like, or anything important I should prepare for. Lowkey stressing a bit, so any help would mean a lot 😭 thanks so much!

Got waiver of unit

I'm a first-year electrical engineering student commencing in this July intake. While enrolling in units, I noticed I couldn't enroll in two recommended courses because they required a prerequisite in the flexible zone. They also told me that after completing the prerequisite, I would need to take two courses in session 3. However, I applied for a waiver for that prerequisite so I could choose two other courses, and the waiver was approved. Now, I’m a bit worried about potential problems with the course. I'm thinking about whether I can handle the course, as ofcourse they think that I am capable of doing the course that’s why they waived it for me I believe. So ,Should I be concerned?
