SSS Attorney Conversation Today
Hi everyone- I spoke to a Slater attorney by phone today. I left a voicemail on Friday after months of no response to several emails sent to SSS, since we all as their clients got the letter regarding the pause in payment/audit in August. I’ll start by saying things do not sound good and I was provided no real hope or timeline. It was shared that they don’t even know who is being audited (which is very scary!). They were told (by BrownGreer) months ago that they have all SSS client complete files and are working them against what “info” they have been provided with as Claims Administrators. She shared at this point, the money hold up is with BrownGreer and the attorneys were shocked that they even notified of an audit so last minute after they had already rolled out the Exhibit A’s notifying clients of their settlement awards. She said the lead attorneys continue to communicate with BrownGreer that they need to release the funds for any SsS clients that have been cleared by BG thus far but the lead attorneys have been unsuccessful in getting an answer to that or a timeline. They’ve even offered to provide more client Information if BrownGreer needed it to assist with the audit, and BrownGreer declined that offer. I asked if I needed to do anything and I was told there was nothing for me to do as a client at this point. The attorney also said they chose not provide weekly updates because they don’t have anything to report, and they didn’t want any us to always “think about everything that happened to us as victims every single week” but would do so as soon as they hear of the audit being completed or the release of funds has taken place so Archer can start contacting clients to set up payment. Sorry guys, I wish this was better news. But I almost wish I hadn’t even bothered to call.
