Advice for 2-month solo trip to Madinah during Ramadan 2027 (30M)

As-salamu alaykum,

I am making this post for any insight, recommendations, or advice for a trip I am planning to Madinah during Ramadan of 2027.

The idea is to arrive in Madinah approximately 3-4 weeks before Ramadan starts (mid-January 2027) and travel back home to the US about 3-4 days after Eid.

I am a 30-year-old single Palestinian-American male traveling solo. I speak Arabic relatively fluently but cannot read it. I don’t have a strict budget, but I’m not looking for anything lavish—just comfort, accessibility, and convenience.

The main purpose of this trip is to purify my nafs, deepen my knowledge of my deen, and allow myself time to detox from the Western world and the fitnah surrounding me. I have made up my mind on this journey and understand what I am looking to achieve.

I see many posts recommending staying as close as possible to the Haram, finding a place within walking distance to the masjid, or near local spots like Quba Avenue.

Does anyone have itinerary recommendations or housing advice? I am not sure if I should commit to one spot early, or if I should split it up every two weeks to avoid the risk of a rental not being as advertised. I am flexible and open to staying with a roommate for a few weeks.

For those who have done an extended spiritual stay before Ramadan starts, how did you structure your daily routine to balance study, rest, and prayer without burning out before the holy month actually begins? I intend to regularly visit the masjid for daily salah, and attend lectures. Is there any Masjid that have lectures in English?

JazakAllahu Khayran in advance for any helpful advice!

where can i find a sponsor for Umrah Visa?

salam.

(22F) i am an ex-resident of madinah. my family and i were all born and raised there so it is home for us. we got blacklisted and sent on khurooj under a false allegation after our father passed away. we tried our best to stay but a letter was submitted to the ministry saying that we were illegal residents and got caught in a raid. all of which was untrue. originally, we were told that we are being sent away for just a year. after a year we were told we have been deported for 3 years. after 3 years, we were told its actually 5 years.

the shocking aspect of this is, we were unaware of everything until we tried to apply for a visa and got rejected by the embassy, that is when we found out it was cause we had been blacklisted not for 1, 3, or 5 years. but 10 years.

it has been 5 years since and the thing is we cannot apply for any visa other than umrah.

so my question is can i still find someone to sponsor an umrah visa? and if not, how do i apply for a umrah visa if i dont have a sponsor? what documents would i need? and is there any way to quickly secure it?

i want to go back in any way i can, even if just for umrah.

any suggestions, or advice would be very much appreciated. jazakallahu khayr.

Theft in madinah

السلام عليكم

Help guys, my e-scooter got taken (possibly stolen) from outside Masjid Cuba. this hap during the dhuhr (ظهر) prayer. I saw many cameras that definitely had surveillance over the area in question.

how can i report this, and is there any way for me to retrieve it?

In the event that police took it, can i still get it back?

جزاكم الله هيرًا

Confused about hotel selection in Mecca/Medina

I have a tight budget per person but I cant seem to find a decent hotel within my range.
I can only afford 150 - 250 SAR / night.
The online reviews are so bad for any hotel that falls in this range.
I want to stay for 21 nights and do not wish to decrease the number of planned stay.
I will be travelling with my mother who struggles walking. So she’ll probably need wheelchair support for the first time in her life.
Please suggest value for money decent hotels in mecca and madina.
Our routine would be to go to haram before zuhr and then come back after isha.

Wish to relocate - Small Business / Job

Assalam u Alaikum

I hope all of you are doing well.

Firstly, it is requested that whoever visit Masjid e Nabwi today on this day of Ashura - Please remember me in your prayers.

As the title day, it’s my wish to relocate to Madina and would like to spend rest of my life over there. I’m a senior finance professional and currently resident of another GCC country. I intend to relocate by either Starting a Small business or working at a company.

To be honest, everything is good here in terms of money and lifestyle but I have been to Madina few times and can say there’s no place on earth that’s more peaceful than a city of Madina.

If someone has gone through this process, I’d like to know what is the minimum amount that’d be needed to start a business?

Ashura - the day of duas being accepted

I would like to kindly ask anyone who has a minute to spare on the day of Ashura to make some dua for me.

My father needs a major surgery to be done in the next couple months, please pray it goes smoothly and Allah grants him with the rizq of good health, and for me to be able to get a good job that pays more than 10-15k per month, so I am able to fully cover the cost of my dad’s surgery without him having to rely on anyone else.

Please also pray that I get married to the person I love, for Allah to make him better for me and me better for him, and to help us with our nikkah in a way that pleases Allah, and makes our families happy too, and put barakah in it.

Jazakallah khair, this would mean so much more to me than you could imagine. On the contrary if anyone would want me to make dua for them too, you can totally reach out to me and let me know and I will :)

Ashura - the day impossible duas get accepted

A kind request to everyone praying on Ashura that they pray that just like Allah accepted all impossible seeming duas on this day may he accept my impossible dua too and my husband’s heart melts towards me and we reconcile and build our marriage back with love, peace and righteousness InshaAllah Ameen. Let this nikkah not be broken by anything and may Allah reunite me with my husband in this marriage with sakinah, mawaddah and rahmah and may we be each others partners in this world and the next. Ameen. JazakAllah khayrun!!

online Quran lessons for kids

Assalamu Alaikum, I am a young Saudi female who teaches Quran to children online. I have memorized the entire Quran and have proper knowledge of Tajweed. I will create a special memorization plan for each child based on their ability and learning pace to help them memorize and improve their recitation. The lessons will be through FaceTime or Zoom, and we will discuss with the parent the number of days per week and the time that is most suitable for their child. If you are interested or would like more information, feel free to message me.
