Another sunset mani

Maybe the hardest time I’ve ever had photographing a polish! The glow is almost metallic and my phone camera wasn’t happy!

Next batch of PBE manis

Bonus pic of hubby’s birthday cake made by a friend (kids were in same grade in elementary school). We had a lovely dinner out with 2 dear friends. My daughter and I are going to pick up her birthday cake and sushi for dinner.

Beach mani

The blue is Stella Chroma A Blue Footed What? stamped with Hit the Bottle Jack Frosting and What’s Up Nails Blanc My Mind. Stamping plate was Maniology m704.

The sandy nails are Holo Taco Beach Please over a coat of Bluebird Creamy Nougat Center. My SO bought the stickers last year so I was glad to get another use out of them.

Chanel Reveuse

My birthday is coming up, and this polish reminds me of my birthstone, peridot. I don’t have Chanel Peridot but this is truer to the actual gemstone anyway.

Chanel comparison - Rouge Noir vs. Vamp

After years of gathering dupes and near dupes of Rouge Noir, I finally got the real thing, and it does not disappoint. First photo is Rouge Noir, purchased very recently. In 2023, Chanel renumbered Rouge Noir from 18 to 155; mine is 155. (Other shades were also renumbered - Pirate went from 08 to 151).

Second photo is Vamp, shimmer version. From what I gather, in 2003, Chanel added shimmer to the original non-shimmery Vamp. The shimmer version became Vamp, and the non-shimmer version became Rouge Noir. Both were numbered 18 (so confusing) till around 2016 when Vamp was discontinued. I think my bottle is from around 2013. I didn’t even know it would have shimmer when I got it.

I prefer Rouge Noir!

I am so sad about fall collections

I remember when OPI and China Glaze did something interesting things. I get that OPI's collection is bringing back some fan favorites, but to me it isn't a fall collection at all. Over half the polishes are nudes. And China Glazes new bottles are so ugly and generic. I alsO was going through my China Glaze collection and the old bottles look so nice, so I know that's part of it. I'm just so disappointed. Do they do nice winter collections anymore? I've been out of the loop for awhile now.

Stepping out of my comfort zone

Wanted to try something bright for August and felt inspired by u/wellflouredhands recent orange manis.

Sally Hansen Sun Sheen with an accent of Holo Taco Coin Toss.

Cracked Polish Va-cay

I love purple, but don’t wear it a lot. I really like this one I acquired recently.

NOTWeeks from LA Colors

Ya'll I've been struggling... you may remember that I've had a few bad nail breaks (this spring and last summer), and finally saw dermatology in June. Well, long story short, she doesn't know what it is, either, and wants to pass me on to yet another specialist. I'm waiting to hear back from specialist 1, after which I'll go to my primary and ask for his feedback. I'd rather not add specialist 4 to the calendar (nor my financial burdens) this year if I can help it, and I kind of think specialist 1's area is where the ticket is at. Anyway, I won't bore you with more details than I already have here (sorry - I just know ya'll know how much joy nails bring, and it's been a big SUCK not only not getting to enjoy painting mine, but being, well, ashamed of them).

  1. First up, last week I celebrated the rule out of one thing by eagerly trying LA Colors Color Mania Fandom. I had picked this up right about the time I saw the derm, as a celebration of prayerfully discovering what these nail issues are all about and righting what wrongs there are to heal. So, to celebrate the first rule out achievement, I put this lovely lady on. I think this was just 2 coats? I used an Ella + Milla base coat and an Olive & June QDTC (both brands are free of multiple harsh ingredients, and I picked those up several months ago when that nail broke off again). I took the polish off Sunday. It's the pinky purple my heart has been craving every summer! It's got a very subtle shimmer that makes it pull off almost as a creme but with that extra special spark.
  2. Bonus kitteh beans. (Isn't he just the precious little cupcake?!)
  3. Last night, I put on LA Colors Color Mania Lyrical, which I picked up at WM last week for a boost (along with 2 others 🤫). I thought I had something similar in my collection, and I found on my swatch sticks I do... well, did. My ChG Turned Up Turquoise looks pretty close to this on the swatch stick, but sadly by bottle has turned a definite chlorine pool blue. Well, I guess at least it means I didn't waste the $2.24 on this! 😁 This is 3 coats, and she stuns.
  4. In the outdoor lighting she just glows!
  5. And LOOK - she's a match to our fencer. 😂

On the 2nd mani, I figured I'd throw caution to the wind and use my forever base/top coat duo: Sally Hansen Miracle Cure base and Seche Vite QDTC. We'll see what happens. Maybe that'll solve all these nail problems (please, Lord, please!!!)

If you made it through all of this, God bless you. And even if you didn't, God bless you anyway because you're a nail fanatic too and you are awesome. 🥰

Have a beautiful day, NBers!

Blessings,
C

NOTD :)

It's been a while since I posted a NOTD. My pinkie had an accident with the laundry basket 😢

This is Sassy Sauce "Irish Goodbye", which is just lovely.

I only found out what an "Irish Goodbye" is last year, lol. I have a large Irish Catholic family and we all take a zillion years to say goodbye. I thought it meant an extended goodbye, but apparently that's just a Midwestern thing.

Apparently it's when you up and disappear, which I have only done when out barhopping with friends and was over it and didn't feel like going to the next destination. And that was like 20 years ago, lol.

This was a PBE overpour. I'm really glad I ordered it!

Back in the saddle

EdM Sunset Over the Bay

I was pretty happy with my first attempt at a glass Bead mani until I topped it with DRK Seal Glaze. So many bubbles 😡. Not going to time to start over so I’ll just have to hope no one notices.

PPU/HHC this month?

Anyone ordering? I have almost talked myself out of PPU—we’ll see. I have probably also talked myself out of HHC even though Pahlish’s reinterpretation of China Glaze Zombie Zest is really cool.

Neon leopard

Used the Dipping Dots yellow and green. The green was super sheer, I layered it over white. Middle finger has a break I couldn't cover.
