New yet old journey

Hoooooly shit.

So, the first time I listened to Malevolent I had quite shitty headphones and at some point the left one got broken, lucky me.

I still listened, I was way too captivated, also I was used to using just one headphone to keep in the check the surroundings. And you know what? It was GREAT. Loved every second of it.

But now I finally got decent enough headphones and the first thing I wanted to do was honestly relistening the whole podcast. Which I did. And holy fuck, what an INCREDIBLE experience. John's voice sounds all around, Arthur's noises are even more heartbreaking and you can hear all little sound details that make atmosphere even more natural and real

It's like watching a movie in the theatre after seeing it via your tablet. 11/10, highly recommend.

Does anyone else love the end of ep 4?

>!I was hoping they were gonna mess with them with John pretending to be summoned. And the way they talked to eachother before was just priceless.!<

John's a ****** and Arthur is a Dick

Spoiler warning if you arent up to threshold yet,

John's a Writer now. And Arthur is a dickhead about it for some reason..

Why is Arthur such a dickhead about John's writing? I do not get it.

What’s everybody’s thoughts on Following the Flames to Ruin?

I love this episode, we got more Faroe and our main man Oscar back! I’m still suspicious of Callahan and I want to believe it’s Parker but it’s too good to be true. I don’t trust you Harlan. It’s gonna be a very fun conversation if Arthur ever decides to tell Parker that John killed him. I died the laughing at how John reacted to Faroe calling Malevolent Mysteries mindless and I can’t wait to see the kind of tomfoolery the boys are gonna get up get up fucking with the seance. Anybody got a name for the dog and do you guys have a theory following this episode?

where did harlan say arthur would be a hare/rabbit?

i’ve heard that at one point, mr guthrie said that if arthur were an animal, he’d be a hare/rabbit. where was this? a q&a episode? a stream?

i’m also curious if he said anything about the other characters.

Percival character and Arthur’s story about Matt and Mal

Big fan of malevolent, but i have never understood the point of Percival’s character (from ep 29 and 39), and also the significance of the story Arthur tells to him. I feel like every other time Arthur tells a story it relates in some way to the plot but i genuinely don’t get the point of the story he tells Percival or how it fits into the bigger picture. Also ik Percival is like annoying to Arthur and john on purpose, but i just find his sections a slog to listen to 😅😭 does anyone else relate or have any insight on this?

Some exciting News

Hello! I hope this is allowed, if not feel free to let me know! My husband and I announced the name of our babygirl arriving in a couple months and I thought you would all love it. And of course thank you to Harlan for the name inspiration and the amazing podcast that means so much to us! We cannot wait to welcome our little "Lili".

Wait, Arthur’s only like 30 years old?

I’ve honestly been imagining like a seasoned veteran this whole time even though early 30s makes total sense.

S4 spoilers ahead, but I just got to the episode where it comes up that he was too young to fight in WW1 so let’s just say he was 17 by the time the war ended. That’d make him like 33 by the start of the show? Idk, I’ve been imagining like a mid 40s guy this whole time.

Also I just saw some official art of him and gotta say, didn’t imagine him as a brunet either. Basically I’ve just been picturing John Constantine this whole time lol

What happened to Tales From the Dark World?

Exactly what the title asks. We got like 6 episodes and then it ended, does anyone know why? It looks like the site that was supposed to host it is also dead is that why?

Need a new podcast

Im in desperate search for a new podcast to listen too as I have just finished Malevolent (literally top thrree podcasts ive listened too) and am feeling rather empty. The magnus archives, malevolent, old gods of Appalachia, the SCP experience, and the magnus protocol have been the ones ive listened too and I absolutely love them. Looking for one that will last me a while but wish there was more.

Clarification on Kayne

Hello fellow listeners! I've listened to the whole podcast all the way through and re-listened through Intermezzo. I still cannot figure out what Kayne's purpose was in sending John and Arthur to New York to find the Order of the Fallen Star. In "The Order Part II" he calls it a "big test," as if he's testing their compliance. But he already has all the leverage he needs to get them to comply when he sends them to England. He'd already found the Greystone. He didn't need Larson. So when John made the deal to get out of the Dark World, why didn't Kayne just immediately drop them in England to find the Blackstone? Did the Great and Powerful Nyarlathotep really need a side quest to ensure they would do his bidding for the main quest?

That said, I did love the New York arc and I hope we get to spend more time with Noel, Oscar, and Marie in Threshold (the title seems to hint that Noel will be returning?). This question has just been bugging me for quite a while!
