reddit.comThinking of moving to Manali with family — need some honest advice
I’ve visited Manali twice and really like the idea of living there for a while with my family.
We’re a family of four — me, my wife and our 4-year-old twins.
I’m not looking for the tourist version of Manali. I’d prefer a simple, independent 2BHK house outside the main city/tourist area, somewhere quieter and closer to nature.
I also have a relatively low budget, and I’m actually okay with a simple lifestyle. I’m not someone who needs Zomato/Blinkit or 10-minute deliveries for everything.
For people who actually live around Manali:
1. What are the biggest practical challenges of living there with two 4-year-old kids, especially during winter?
2. What kind of monthly budget should I realistically expect for a simple 2BHK independent house + normal living expenses for a family of four?
3. Which areas around Manali would you suggest for this kind of lifestyle — quiet, family-friendly, affordable and not too isolated?
Would especially appreciate answers from families who have actually moved here or people who grew up here, rather than people who have only visited.
