Can it run demanding arcade games ?

Hello,

I'm asking this question here because I can't find an answer anywhere else. Is the Mangmi Air X capable of running games like DoDonPachi Resurrection, Mushihimesama, or KOF XI?

Whenever an arcade game is shown on a YouTube channel (on any console, even ones more powerful than the Mangmi), it’s always an older shoot ’em up or an older version of KOF.

And if so, is it possible to rotate the emulator screen 90 degrees and play using the right stick and the A, B, X, Y buttons instead of the usual controls?

What are ya’lls PSP settings?

I haven’t changed much in the setting besides upscale to 4x to 1080p native resolution. Some games are fine and some have stutters. I of course try to lower resolution first. But curious if I am missing any other settings. I am on Vulkan, low latency unchecked, no frame skip, everything is at its base config except the resolution.

I am also getting a crazy stutter with a specific game, Mega Man Maverick Hunter X, whenever I swap directions left/right. Any fix for that?

Appreciate any help here!

Favourite shooter on the mangmi?

I've been trying out some different games, looking for the best shooter that runs well on the mangmi. Halo was my favourite back on the day but I can't that going unless I stream it.

Call of duty on the PSP is really good but a bit slower than Id like. Any good recommendations? I wanted to run NOVA 3 and modern combat bit I can't get them to go on android 14.

A LITTLE HELP?

so i bought mine months ago and it works well, just changed some emulators and games that came with it.

i chose this because it was advertised as android gaming console and the reason was i wanted to play heartopia, cod:m, and disney speedstorm on it.

my problem is whenever i try to install those three it just gets stuck on whatever percent or it would retry and that process would be on a loop that i'd end up cancelling.

(for reference: i only am using 25G on internal memory and 75G on the TF card, plus i keep the system up to date)

WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM?! 😭

Is Rocknix a viable OS yet?

I don't like how the stock experience feels like a janky Android phone accompanied by an equally-janky launcher, so I gave Gamma OS a try. I like its navigation and UI, and I really like the Daijisho launcher but it's been months since the initial release and there are still some major bugs that haven't been fixed like the audio jack/Bluetooth not working, and the fan needing to be manually enabled and disabled.

I heard about Rocknix and was interested in it since I don't have much of a use for Android and would love to get into Portmaster, but the last two times I tried a nightly build my experience was horrible. I couldn't get any games to launch, RetroArch itself kept freezing and not detecting the Air X's controls, the overall menu/UI experience was painfully laggy and online connectivity was so slow it took me several minutes just to download a single theme.

Is there something I'm doing wrong with Rocknix or is it still not quite ready for the Air X?

Half Life 2?

Has anyone got half life 2 to work? I have followed the guides but I can't get it going. I'm not sure if it's the software or the device.

Help with audio crackling for Mangmi Air X

So I've recently gone and gotten the Mangmi Air X and loaded my ROMs onto it. I've noticed a problem where whenever I play a DS, 3DS, N64, PSP or really anything slightly demanding my audio cracks and it's been getting pretty annoying. Anyone got any setting tweaks I can use to help the audio crackling? (I've also tried headphones to see if the speakers are the problem, they're not)

Face button physical replacement

Has anyone tried physically swapping the ABXY buttons? My daughter is autistic and can't cope with the Nintendo layout. Even though I've swapped the button inputs in the software, she wants the labels to match. From the replacement button set on the Mangmi site, it looks like the A/B and X/Y buttons have the same peg layout, so I should just be able to open the device and swap them around. Has anyone tried this?

Face buttons swapped

I went ahead and swapped the face buttons - they do indeed fit in either slot (A/B and X/Y), and they're not too hard to access once the device is open.

Opening the shell was the hardest part. I couldn't avoid some light scuffing of the shell around the power/volume buttons, and it took a fair bit of force with the pick to get it open.

Once inside everything was very straightforward: the battery and speaker were easy to disconnect, and I didn't have to remove any ribbon cables to access the buttons - nothing fiddly at all, thankfully. The PH00 screws holding the right PCB to the front shell were a different length to the rest of the PH00 screws, but other than that they were all uniform.

Closing up presented one minor niggle in that the four T3 screws that hold the shell together were magnetised and thus repelled my screwdriver, so I had to use angled tweezers to get the screws back in their slots and be careful not to drop the top ones inside the casing in the process.

Otherwise no real surprises - everything was as in the Mangmi teardown video except for a strip of tape over the protective cover around the fan. The whole task took me around half an hour, with a fair bit of that attributable to an abundance of caution.

If anyone wants to repeat the feat, I definitely recommend following the relevant parts of the teardown video (including remembering to remove the MicroSD card before opening the shell, and to disconnect the battery once inside). I used an iFixit Essentials kit for the pick and tweezers, and a Fanttik E1 Max electric screwdriver for the screws. I also used a silicone work pad and the foam insert that came with the Air X's packaging to rest the device on and prevent the face buttons' silicone pad popping out when I put the device down.

Struggling with NDS New Super Mario Bros

Why is my Mangmi Air X having a hard time playing this game? I also have the anbernic rg40xxv and my son has the rg40xxh and these both seem to play it even better somehow. It does a little better when I use single screen layout, but I figured using the hybrid with the small touch screen to the side would be fine for this device.

Magmi air X or Nintendo switch lite?(Pls help me decide and pls read description)

Confused between the Mangmi Air X and the Nintendo Switch Lite. I’m from India, and over here both kind of cost the same. The Switch Lite is maybe a little more expensive, but not by a huge margin. What should I go for?both are affordable.

I already owned a Switch Lite long ago, and personally I found it really good, but I wish to get something a bit more pocketable. Also, the games and the prices of the games were diabolical.

Should I go for the Mangmi Air X this time? Because I love customizing, trying out different ports, and making the device look cool and filled with underrated games. But would it be dumb choosing it over a Switch Lite?

If any Mangmi Air X owners can share their experience with the console and its pros and cons, that would be great. I also want to know which one is more pocketable and has longer battery life between these two.

Has anyone with vanilla firmware tried the Dusk Decomp for Twilight Princess.

It seems like nobody who has a Mangmi can get it to work, but nobody is really mentioning what OS they're using. I can't get it to work on Gamma OS, but I'm curious if this a Gamma OS problem or not.

Others in the server mention it gets the "Failed to Initialize Graphics Backend" when it doesn't support DX12 or Vulkan, but as far as I've seen, this DOES support Vulkan.

If not, I guess it's just a matter on waiting to see if Courage Reborn blows Dusk out of the water.

Charging experience

Hello!

I recently bought an Air X and the one thing I’ve found negative, is the charging duration.

I’m using the box in the image attached (I believe it came with an iPhone 8), which I understand is ideal + the cable that came with the Air X, and I’m really disappointed that it charges SO slowly.

Does anyone have suggestions for a better box / cable?

Button Ghost Input

Has anyone experienced ghost inputs on their device? It only happens when i unlock the screen. The buttons that move by themselves seem to be both joysticks (both "flick" to the upper-right) and the trigger buttons (they get pressed halfway for a millisecond). i can see the inputs happening in the gamepad test too.

Is this fixable? its weird that it just happens when unlocking the screen, so i wonder if it can be fixed.

This happens on the stockos. Flashed and restarted. Still there.

Is there a noticeable difference in performance between the stock OS and Gamma OS?

I think I spent five minutes with the stock OS before flashing Gamma OS on my Air X but it's so annoying having a non-functioning headphone jack and needing to manually set my fan/performance settings. It dawned on me that I could technically just remove the stock launcher and replace it with Daijisho for a similar experience.

What would I be missing out on by going back to the stock OS?
