Watch, Wrist: Navigators

A decade ago I was issued this watch while conducting Counter Drug & Alien Migrant Interdiction Operations. I wore it every day and beat the absolute breaks off it, mostly out on the boats. After I transferred from that job I threw it in my night stand until I found it recently.

I cleaned her up, replaced the battery, threw some polywatch on it, and got a RWB strap for this weekend. Good to go.

Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸

Steel Bracelet?

I own a Marathon MSAR Quartz on the rubber strap, and I've been thinking about switching to the OEM stainless steel bracelet.

The problem is that the OEM bracelet is pretty expensive. Are there any good alternatives that fit the 36mm MSAR? Or is the OEM bracelet really worth the price?

I'd love to hear your experiences and recommendations. Thanks!

No more "US Government" markings for the public?

41mm GSAR with \"US Government\" marking

Got this in a note from Marathon CS today via email:

"We have discontinued the sale of US Gov dial watches to the general public (civilian market). These timepieces are now reserved exclusively for use by the United States Government."

Bummer! The USG marking on some models was made them kinda cool.

Are the USG marked versions a specific SKU?

My 6yr old MSAR

This has been my most worn watch over the last 6yrs. But I broke the spring bar for the micro adjust and the shouldered spring bars I was using for the case wiggled around a bit so I decided to get new spring bars all the way around (case and 2 in the clasp), and got sholderless spring bars for the case and now it feels rock solid like the day I got it

Best NATO for a GSAR

I'm sure this is a terrible question, and sorry in advance.

Looking for a really solid option for a NATO for my GSAR. My starting point would probably be the one that Marathon sells, but I figured I would ask around a little bit first.

I really like the look of the Erika's MN straps, but I'm a little concerned about the stretchiness of them. I actually want something that's not stretchy, and just gives a straight up solid experience. I've had cordura and sailcloth straps before which I really liked, but they were not NATO style.

Pretty much the only other requirement, is that I don't want something that's made in China. Doesn't have to be outrageously exotic, but I do want something high quality. Solid black, or maybe just a little bit of a subdued pattern.

Side question -- is there such thing as a quick release, shoulderless spring bar? I absolutely love how solid the attachment is between the bracelet and the watch, in the spring bars are sturdy as hell. But it's kind of annoying to deal with them if I feel like changing between the bracelet and the straps. Maybe that's just the cost of doing business, but it would be nice for something that's a little simpler. Just curious

First Marathon watch!

Currently have it on a grey single pass nato.

Any recommendations for decent nato straps to lift it off the wrist?

41mm GSAR Anthracite

I have the GSAR 41mm Anthracite brand new. Unfortunately, I think it's a bit too small for me.

Anyone looking to trade?

I absolutely love the watch, beautiful in all lighting and angles, but I think it is a bit too small for my liking

Lots of pictures of pristine watches on this sub. Anyone have a picture of a Marathon that is beat to shit?

Curious to see how they wear over time.
