The entitlement of some drivers is unbelievable.

This guy decided to stop his SUV directly in front of our car so he could go into the LCBO instead of finding an actual parking spot.
The worst part? When we confronted him about blocking our vehicle, he completely disregarded us and continued walking into the LCBO as if nothing was wrong.
No apology, no attempt to move his vehicle, just complete disregard for everyone else.

Some people really need to learn basic parking etiquette and common courtesy.

Ward 1 Thornhill All-Candidates Meeting – Thoughts on the Candidates

Sharing the video from the Ward 1 meeting. Interesting to compare how everyone answered the questions. Some definitely came across better than others.

MAYOR
🏆 Frank Scarpitti – Pretty clear choice for Mayor. He knows the city, has the experience, and seemed comfortable answering the questions.

❌ Martin Ross – Didn’t really convince me he’s ready to run Markham. Big difference between the two.

REGIONAL COUNCILLORS
🥇 1. Amanda Yeung Collucci – Came across really well. Clear answers, straight to the point, and seemed to know what she was talking about. Has a strong presence and brings a different perspective from some of the longtime politicians. Her business background and council experience are a good combination.

🥈 2. Jack Heath – Solid and steady. Pretty much what you’d expect from someone who’s been around municipal politics for years.

🥉 3. Jim Jones – Knows York Region issues well. His experience definitely shows.

✅ 4. Paul Chiang / Joe Li / Don Hamilton – Honestly, this one’s a toss-up.
Paul Chiang was okay. Nothing particularly memorable.
Joe Li seems to bring everything back to his Swiss waste collection system. Would be nice to hear him talk more about other issues.
Don Hamilton was his usual self. Nothing surprising.

WOULDN’T MAKE THE LIST
❌ Alan Ho – Really didn’t come across well. Seemed to be yelling most of the time, and it was hard to follow what he was saying. Not impressed.
❌ Michael Huang – Even less convincing than Alan Ho. Didn’t seem ready for the job.
❌ Joe Tay – Think he needs more experience before moving into a regional role.

OTHERS
⭐ Richard – Actually spoke pretty well. Seems to have potential, but probably needs more experience in municipal politics.
⭐ Stephen Edgell – Good to see him putting his name forward and participating. Just don’t see him having much of a chance of winning this time.

WARD 1 COUNCILLOR
✅ Keith Irish – Probably going to win again. He’s established in Thornhill, and incumbency helps.

SCHOOL BOARD TRUSTEE
✅ Cindy Hackelberg – Spoke well, seemed knowledgeable, and has a good background. Solid choice.

OVERALL
Interesting meeting. Some candidates clearly know the issues better than others, and some are just better at explaining their positions.

Worth watching the video and making up your own mind.

I’m based in the GTA and have been working on a little project called WashRadar.
The idea came from a simple frustration: when you’re looking for a car wash, Google Maps can tell you where to go, but not necessarily how many cars are waiting or how long the wash might take.
So I built something to help with that.

Check estimated wait times and how many cars may be ahead.
Compare locations by distance and estimated wait.
See estimated queue + wash time.
Help other drivers by reporting the lineup when you’re at a wash.

One thing I want to be transparent about: this is an early public beta. Wait times are estimates, not guaranteed live readings, and the community reporting feature becomes more useful as more drivers participate.
For now, it’s a mobile-friendly website. I’m hoping to bring it to iOS and Android later.
I’m launching in the GTA first and would genuinely love feedback from local drivers.

Long read ahead.

A neighbour has been sending packages to my address for the past couple months, once three boxes at a time. The contents within the boxes are trading cards (searched the sender location, and I personally also collect so I recognize the sender address) and knowing that some products are limited to 3 per household, it’s made me believe that they’re listing my address as a loop hole; have FedEx deliver the packages at my house, then they’ll come by another day and pick up.

First time, the neighbour stopped by and asked for the package. OK, no problem. That was probably mid July?

Second time, it was three separate boxes. Neighbours name, my address. This time my family decided to drop them back to FedEx to deal with. I think the neighbours dad came the next day and asked for the package and we told him we didn’t have them and dropped them to FedEx.

Third time (today) two boxes. We picked up the first box because I also coincidentally bought some cards, the second package came and I opened the door to the postman calling a number. The neighbour had left a note on my door stating that they had wrote the wrong address and to call the number written on a note that was slipped in my front door. While the postman was calling the number, I saw that it was the same deal; neighbours name, my address on the shipping label. The postman (who was calling the neighbour’s number) relayed to me that the neighbour asked to leave the box on our porch since they didn’t have anyone home. I said no.

Now before I sound like an ass hole, I would’ve been fine if the neighbour was honest about it, that they’re buying cards and just want to loophole the system. But after the delivery of three boxes, damn, acting as my house is a PO Box?

What’s the next step? Made it clear to the neighbours we aren’t a concierge service, and I would’ve thought after the letting them know we returned the packages to FedEx, they’d take a hint.

TLDR; neighbour purposefully leaving my address to deliver trading cards to. Total has delivered 6 boxes on 3 separate occasions over the course of a few months.

Edit to add: opening packages that are not addressed to you is illegal, I won’t be opening the packages. As one of my comments suggested, yes these are for Pokémon cards, and yes I also buy them for a personal collection, so to tell the sender to not send to my address would also mean I can’t personally order cards. The neighbour who is doing this is (I assume) at least a high schooler, I’ve only seen them once and that was the time when they picked up the first package.
