Text Layers let you quickly add brand names, labels, technical markings, & other writing to your Texture Projects. Add them from the Vector dropdown in the Layers menu (3D Text or Decal Text), then customize settings with the built-in tools.

🎉 Introducing Marmoset Toolbag 5.03 | Scatter Layers, Text Layers, SpaceMouse Support, IES Light Profiles, & more...

We’re excited to announce the official release of Marmoset Toolbag 5.03, a free update available for all Toolbag 5 users that introduces brand-new features and significant improvements to Toolbag's baking, texturing, and rendering systems. Below is a complete list of the new additions and upgrades. 

Texturing & Painting

  • Scatter Layer: Spread randomized elements on a mesh’s surface
  • Text Layer: Add text markings in Texture Projects
  • Pause Tiles: Pause or temporarily disable certain UDIM/MTS tiles
  • Vector Import: Import vector layer content in Texture Projects
  • Layer Caching: Improve performance ~2.5x when working with complex Texture Projects

Rendering

  • IES & Light Units: Load IES profiles to add interesting shapes and realistic light falloff
  • Physical Light Units: New mode to define light brightness in real-world units
  • Procedural Sky Improvements: New Tint, Sun Scale, Sky Color settings, and custom Backdrops support
  • Motion Blur Preview: Preview motion blur in the viewport without rendering

Baking

  • Cage Distance Limiting: Define a maximum ray distance for baking
  • Curvature Improvements: Bakes are now more accurate & produce fewer artifacts

UI & Misc

  • SpaceMouse Support: Navigate the viewport and adjust cameras using SpaceMouse
  • Multi-Select & Edit Materials: Batch select & edit materials to speed up material visualization
  • Numerous bug fixes and misc. quality-of-life improvements
