New to Magic

Hey all,

Im very new to magic, only just starting to get interested in it especially with the Lord of the rings and hobbit sets really starting my interest. But im a complete noob who knows very little to nothing on the actual game, rules, purpose and how to actually start. If anyone can help id really appreciate any suggestions or support.

Thanks a million 🙏👍

I feel like I’ve started down a stupid and expensive path.

I’ve always loved that on of vintage Magic packs there is a little story excerpt of what the set is about and wanted to collect them in a protective way. I believe I’m headed down a dangerous road. Papa apologized to my wife when I told him he got me back into Magic.

Out of the first and only collector booster I ever got

I never buy collector boosters. I consider them a waste of money and with some of the earlier sets before this, the Collabs were super mad and seemed really money, hungry like Fortnite level themed collabs that just didn’t seem like it belonged in the MTG universe, but I picked up some hobbit stuff and I saw they were running out of collector boosters at my local card shop so for the first time I bought one not a box just one pack and I got this pull out of one pack.

Shelly ink I got the other day

I have always loved the design on Sheoldred, I felt mixing the vibes of Chaos Witch Quelaag with something of H.R. Giger meshed so well. She was always my favorite praetor and I loved the fact we got a super playable version of her in Dominaria United.

Just wanted to share her!

Anyone else have magic ink on them?

The Creator of Slenderman Plays MTG, Hunter Should Invite Him

Eric Knudson AKA Victor Surge plays MTG. He made the original Something Awful posts where Slenderman was formed.

It would be hella cool if he was in an episode of MeatyMagic

Does anyone know what acrylic cases they use for their collector booster boxes?

I’ve got a couple I wanna protect but they’re just rawdogging it in my closet

Prerelease

Hey everyone,

I attended my first prerelease and did ok. First game I got stomped but the guy was super nice and reviewed my deck with me and helped trimmed out like 4 cards and make 1 swap and it worked much better.

That was great.

Next one I wasn’t sure if it was allowed but looking back kinda realizing it might’ve been some fuckery. Round 1 he won using a blue white deck against my red black. No changes to either deck with side board after.

Next round I won and he saw I used a smaug that was strong. We were talking between matches and he knew it was my first prerelease and it seemed very casual but after I won I could tell he was irked. He out loud as he is shuffling for next match is like “am I really going to switch out my deck for a casual prerelease event?” He’s like having this conscious battle out loud to I think make it more funny and make himself feel less embarrassed but sure enough he switches and beats me. Immediately after we shake hands say it was nice to meet you and he he goes “yeah that was cringe sorry man” after we submit the results.

I get that a lot of people use their pulls to build 2 decks with what they have and might switch between games with their next opponent but I wasn’t sure if that’s allowed within the best of 3? Is it cringe or even cheating to switch your entire 40 card deck mid rounds in a best of 3?
