NVH engineer here ! We all know the EQS is quieter than a Model Y Juniper, but do you know "how quieter" ?

Hi /r/mercedes_benz, I have been in the NVH automotive industry for 15 years, being very passionate about this topic, I thought I'd share a report I've made, that explains in some detail why the EQS appears quieter than the Model Y Juniper. I'll post more details in the comments, I hope you enjoy this kind of analysis !

EQS 580 trouble connecting to mercedes me

Just got a 22 EQS 580 today, I’m having trouble connecting to the Mercedes App,

It keeps saying An error has occurred, Please try again.

Tried signing in with VIN, it works but I just see the cars and not a single feature.

For the QR Code I made a new account, Uninstalled and Reinstalled, nothing seems to be working.

Dealer made the mercedes me account for me as well last week

Also which air freshener is the best to put in the glovebox.

Any suggestions?

Any help would be appreciated!

EQS SUV ride quality vs Kia EV9

How does the ride quality in the EQS with the air suspension compare to the Kia EV9. All the reviews I see for EV9 say its very smooth. I test drove the EQS and it was very smooth drive but I didn't think it was a whole lot different then a soft spring suspension. If anyone has driven both Id love to hear your thoughts.

Moving on...

I'm gearing up to get rid of my 580 EQS SUV.

...going for the Escalade IQ.

The EQS has been nice, and maybe even fun to drive. But I miss seeing the speedometer!

I drive way too fast to be in the dark on exactly how fast I am driving.

Moreover, I am tired of the car telling me that it can't see my eyes.

Tired if the hissing seat coolers.

Tired of the shitty MB Service Department.

Tired of the glare from the hyperscreen.

Tired of the crappy center console.

Tired if the f'd up cup holders.

Tired of the driver-side door handles that won't pop open.

Tired of not being able to play video on that HUGE screen.

Tired of the crappy roadside assistance.

From SVR to EQS - My journey from a 600HP Supercharged V8 to thou shall not be named Mercedes EV - BUT BEWARE soulless phones with wheels

Let me start by saying I get it. I've spent my whole life loving the sound and the shove of a real engine. The supercharged V8 in my Range Rover Sport SVR had a soul — the way it cleared its throat on a cold start, the way it pushed you into the seat when you got into it. I genuinely thought I'd never own an EV in my life. Not seriously.

Then I drove a Mercedes EQS.

I'm still not 100% sold, I'll be honest. There's something an electric motor will never give you that a blown V8 does, and I'd be lying if I said I won't miss it. But here's where my brain broke: EQS sedans that stickered at $130K new are going for around $45K with two or three years on them. Forty-five grand. For a six-figure car. No oil, no gas, basically just tires and brakes.

Sit with that for a second. Why would anyone NOT switch at that price?

So I did. Sold the SVR. Going EQS. Yes, I'm giving up the feel — but at that kind of delta, it's a small trade-off in the end.

Before the comments roll in: this is NOT me saying every EV is the move. Tesla and Cadillac are a completely different animal to me. Those don't feel like cars — they feel like a phone with wheels. Soulless devices. The EQS still feels like a Mercedes, and honestly that distinction is the only reason I could pull the trigger. And icing ont he cake I would rather drive a Alpina B7 to a AMG GT - never a fan of Mercedes but hey people (Mercedes) can change

Anyone else cross over from the gas side and not regret it? Or am I about to?

Should I purchase my 2024 EQS 450+ SUV at end of lease ?

I have 18k miles on my leased 2024 EQS SUV - 3 Rows , Metallic Green, Exclusive trim. My residual with MBFS says 69k buyout price. Dealer is offering to @buy from MBFS and sell to me “ for $60k.

We like the car and I’ve had no real issues with it in the 23 months of lease , other than a couple of software updates for the infotainment system.

Just want to understand whether this is a good deal or not ?

Door handles of the damned

I bought my Mercedes EQS a little less than a year ago — 2022 450+ — off of CPO from a dealership. It's been a pretty good experience, nice and chill no real issues.

Until recently, when the door started thumping and making strange noises and the driver's door handle started staying stuck out, or staying stuck in. I thought, "Hey, no problem. This is why we did CPO and got that CPO warranty."

The service tech today said I was going to be out almost $2,600 because the CPO warranty didn't cover the repairs to the door and handle.

Which, I'm sorry, my mind is just blown that the mechanisms in the car designed to make the door a door aren't covered by a warranty. We're not talking about a cosmetic piece, or something that is subjected to abnormal wear and tear — we're talking about the actuators, switches and other electrical components that make it a DOOR.

Has anyone ever run into this before or have a way of negotiating around it, or am I just well and truly screwed? I knew that when things went wrong with a Mercedes it would be pricey, which is exactly why I went for the CPO and then the extended warranty beyond that.

But a DOOR???

EQS too polite for NJ/NY drivers

Does anyone else get frustrated with Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC in heavy traffic?
I love the system overall, but even on the one car length following distance it leaves enough room that impatient (often bmw) drivers constantly cut into the gap. I can see it coming a mile away.
The frustrating part is the timing. The car ahead speeds up, DISTRONIC starts accelerating to close the gap, and that’s the exact moment someone cuts in. The system then brakes abruptly because there’s suddenly a new bumper in front of me.
As a human driver, I’d simply anticipate the merge and ease off the accelerator. Instead, I find myself turning DISTRONIC off and following a little closer just to discourage people from cutting in, which defeats the whole purpose. I’ve tried bringing the speed set lower to possibly decrease the urgency to speed up (I.e. in 45 mile an hour traffic but on a 75 mph highway bringing the set speed closer to 45 miles an hour so the car isn’t trying to get back up in 75 so quickly.) and I’ve also tried different settings like comfort and economy to see if it will react less aggressively. But none of that seems to change the scenario.
Am I the only one who wishes the one car length following distance was just a bit shorter?
