Mercury not starting after the winter.

Hello. Looking to start this engine and not sure what is going on. Engine sat over the winter. Starter still works but it’s not kicking over to idle. Any help would be great. Thank you.

Hard shudder and won’t go past 3000RPM

I have a 2018 Mercury 90CT outboard on my pontoon. Never gave me an issue. Took it out today and got to about 3000RPM and engine began to shudder and shake and won’t go faster. No engine alarms. I’m thinking it might be water in the gas I always use premium.

Should I remove and replace the fuel filters and drain the tank?

2006 60HP Mercury Adapter Plate Removal

60ELPTEFI. Need help before the big hammer comes out.

I’ve got every fastener out except the socket head and water tube, but the bolt head is going to strip if I keep cranking and this plate won’t budge. Does that need to come out, am I missing something, or time to beat the piss out of it?

Frustrated with Mercury Marine

I purchased a new 2022 Boston Whaler Montauk 150 back in 2022 and the boat came with a 60 hp Mercury engine. I’ve had the boat professionally stored and maintained by a well known Boston Whaler/Mercury dealer. To make a long story short, for the SECOND time since new, the throttle body is warped and in need of replacement. Now I’ve been without the use of my boat all Summer because this part has been on back order from Mercury since at least May. IMO there is no excuse that Mercury is still backordered on this part. It is a 2022 engine for crying out loud, and my Mercury Platinum Warranty doesn’t do a damn bit of good when Mercury doesn’t have the part in stock. I’m completely missing out on my Summer boating season fun and very ticked off, but thank god I’m not somebody who relies on this engine for commercial purposes or I’d be really screwed.

2018 four stroke leaking water?

I’m not sure if water is supposed to come out of the hole in the center. I saw water coming out and took off the cover to see it coming from a hole there. Any insight on as to this should be happening

Help with loud clunking sound under load. Only happens in forward, not reverse

This started after I rented the boat to a Airbnb guest. There’s a chance they used the wrong mixture of gas and oil. I took it to my mechanic. He had someone take the engine apart and replaced a sprocket for $1,900, possibly the front sprocket. The clunking didn’t go away, but it did change sound slightly. The engine has the same power, it can go for 15 minutes no problem. The sound doesn’t happen in reverse which makes me believe that it’s fixable. Please help me figure this out!!! I appreciate it.

Mercury internal external fuel tank

Hello, I have a mercury 5 hp that came with the internal external tank option but I don't have the hook up for the external tank.

Can I just run a quick connect fitting that has a barb on it here?

In pictures online there's a little blue and black piece in-between everything, what is that?

The first picture is what I have, the second picture is the assembly I'm looking for

Thanks guys!

Update: Mercury smartcraft installation

I wanted to update a recent post I made regarding Mercury smartcraft data integration at the helm that I posted here: https://www.reddit.com/r/boating/s/fO9dixfviO

TLDR, smartcraft data is what is fed into Mercury AGI (analog gauge interface, confirmed w Mercury tech support).

I installed a 4 port junction box and a new Mercury smart craft connect that feeds both Bluetooth and data into NMEA2000 backbone.

After installation, I set up the module using Mercury manager app and specified “Mercury” as the engine type in the Raymarine MFD.

I now have Mercury vessel view integrated information on my MFD, including troll control, and am very stoked about all of it. DM me any questions if you’re considering a similar install!

2014 Mercury 60hp

Sorry for the long video, I’ve had this boat for about a year now and it’s been giving me this issue. I’ve thrown countless parts at it and still nothing. In the video you can see it bogs down, keep in mind the throttle was hammered the whole time. If anyone has had this issue please feel free to share the resolution. This motor only has but 100ish hours on it. I would greatly appreciate the help. Thank you

Does anyone know what these wires go to?

Trying to identify these wires, I’m thinking they got to the tachometer? They’re connected to the solenoid assembly.

Edit: 1994 Mercury XRI 200

1969 Mercury Merc 110

I got my smaller one running also. I feel like I'm gonna go down a rabbit hole of trying to repair old outboards. Getting my wrenching need out has been so great.

Prop size?

Got a 14ft smoker craft, wood flooring. Single battery up front with the trolling motor. 6 gallon fuel tank in rear and a 25hp merc 2 stroke. 10 3/8” 13p prop. Only getting 20-21 max. Without anything but what’s described and 2 ores as well as 2 3-4lb seats. Is there something that can change to increase speed?
