What should I have charge for this job

It was a 18x3’ span and each cover was 6x3’ with hinges and a gas strut
5 hours to install
Took about 15 hrs of welding and cutting
1 days of painting and finish
Material was about $600 and I feel like I majorly undercharged, just wondering what roughly u guys would charge as I just started my business!

Chicagoland Fabricators?

Hi,

I absolutely love this table by JM Szymanski (titled Table No 15), but if you check out its price, it is ridiculously expensive.

The dimensions are: 52'' D  36'' W  13'' H

Material: blackened steel, wax finish

I would love to buy or fabricate a table that is similar in shape to this one but with a much much more affordably price tag. It does not have to be the same size, but I love its shape as well as its material. Any fabricators in Chicagoland able to recreate this and give me a quote on it?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Square to round sheet metal on an angle

Hello.
I am looking for suggestions on how to go about designing this weird square to round adapter that the square end starts off on and angle.

The round is 3 inch and the square is approx 4x4.

I have some SolidWorks experience but I am kinda stuck on how I want to go about to start with this...

I want to design it in 2 halves for laser cutting and brake press bending after.

Any helps?

Career Opportunities

As the title suggests, I am looking to explore career opportunities within the metal fabrication world. I know it’s not something that will happen overnight but want to get into prototype machining/fabrication work. I am coming from 7+ years of healthcare experience and a bachelors in Health Science but looking to give something else I have more of a passion/interest in a go. Already being in some student loan debt I want to try to break into the field/industry without getting into a trade school or technical program. I’m making about $26/hr currently and know this will likely come with some pay cuts but otherwise just lost on how to get started in my new journey. I am mechanically inclined, do all my own automotive work, and not afraid to get my hands dirty. I do have a MiG welder I’ve began self teaching myself on and starting to teach myself CAD with 360 Fushion. Thanks for any help or advice in advance!

Over 1year strong with my BD. I can’t believe I dodged a bullet with this gas prices. It would had definitely taken me out of the business. I can still drive and offer free estimates.

Hi all. Thanks for any help.

I’m looking to fabricate a “high roof” for a van.

Basically same shape as a small boat. Should I do ABS or fiberglass with aluminum frame? I’d love any other ideas. Upside down boat is tempting, but I’d rather learn how to fabricate such a thing.
