95+ degree (f) Bike Ride

If anyone cares about the Palestinian cause don’t EVER give your money to red rock saloon. During the GOP convention in 2024 zionists met here to discuss their “war” plans on further colonizing the Levant while trying to intimidate Code Pink & other anti war groups of Wisconsin. That’s my rant.

Tree down Beerline Trail still passable.

Just south of Gordon Park. Still passable on grass shoulder.
I reported it on the County Parks website.

First time, biking/scooter parking

Hello all :) this will be my first time attending Shaky Knees. I will be staying near PCM and it looks like the Atlanta belt line is close and goes all the way to Piedmont Park. I was thinking of bringing a bike or electric scooter to travel the beltline to the festival. The map for this year hasn’t been released yet but last year there were two designated locations for securing bikes. Has anyone biked in before? Is it safe to secure bikes at the festival? Obviously I would bring locks but just curious about anyone else’s previous experience.

KK river trail glass

A friend had both front and back tubes pop on her way to working using the KK river trail. Apparently the entire thing is littered with glass. I know the city recently removed the homeless people living in tents near the trail, so maybe they put glass on the trail out of spite?

Anyone have issues with this?

I'm thinking of going there today with a broom, dust pan, and paper bag to clean it up.

DreamBikes earned a customer for life

Went to convert my flat bar to drops (had all the equipment already) and after two quotes for $5xx and $3xx (which included a front derailleur charge, even though the bike is 1x 😂), decided to give them a try and not only did they do it for a good price but were courteous and done way under their estimated timeline.

Def will be back!!

Mass is Tomorrow!

Happy (almost) Friday. Sorry for the late post, but you all know the drill by now. This month we’ll end at Zócalo to admire the new(ish) plaza on Pierce Street and take in some World Cup on the big screen.

- Friday, June 26
- Meet starting at 5:30 p.m. at Red Arrow Park
- Roll out at 6 p.m.
- End point: Zócalo (636 S 6th Street)

Critical Mass is a (fun!) socially-paced ride (about 10 mph or less). We ride to be in community with other bicyclists/skaters/scooterers/etc, provide safety in numbers, and demand safe transportation infrastructure for all.

You are welcome to leave the ride when you’d like, but as a "no drop" ride, we don’t leave anyone behind because of speed. (We may not be able to stop the group in case of mechanical issues, though.)

The starting point at Red Arrow is accessible by transit:
- MCTS lines that come within a few blocks: Green, CN1, 14, 15, 18, 19, 30, 33, 57
- The Hop streetcar (City Hall or Cathedral Square stops)
- There's also a Bublr station at Water and Kilbourn

We hope that over time, folks will make connections with people from their neighborhoods and can organize smaller groups to ride together to the starting point. If anyone is interested in organizing a bike bus from their neighborhood to Red Arrow, let us know!

Selling bikes

Is it allowed to sell bikes on here? A weekly sales thread could be useful to keep things organized.

Otherwise where do you reccomend for selling bikes locally? I don't use Facebook, BTW.

Thanks!

Forgotten Bridges for river trail in Riverwest!

I recently moved away from Milwaukee (so sad). I wanted to do a good deed before I left, but I fear I may have just littered! You know that section of the river trail, West side of river, just South of Kern Park, where there are some informal, flat, wooden bridge like structures to keep you up out of the mud? Well I meant to add some more. And I did make two 8' sections, and I even dropped them off just off the curving trail at the Corner of E Concordia Ave and N Gordon Pl. But I just dropped them and kind of hid them to the side bc I didn't have time or a cart to haul them down to the trail. And then I got caught up in moving and FORGOT about them. Somebody please go install them!!! There were extra square posts lying around the ground at the bike trail, you can just set them on those like the others. Ugh, I am so disappointed in myself. I hope nobody had to clear them out like giant litter or illegal dumping. Bring a cart or friend, one is light enough to carry, the other would be a very sweaty carry all the way to the trail. I hope they are still there. On the right side of the trail as you walk down, just a few tens of yards in, should be visible, I set them just to side of giant dead tree trunk. Peace Bike Friends. https://maps.app.goo.gl/4L8TM7kTcd5n9dKT8
