Live by Park Lawn, looking for my options to play indoor basketball. Weeknights after 5pm is my ideal slot as a 9-5'er, and weekends I'd go during the morning or afternoon. I'm okay with just shootaround and light/casual pick-up, suitable for a late 30s person haha.

And no I don't live at 88/90 Park Lawn unfortunately, wish I had known they have their own indoor court wow.

I am okay to go as far as UTM, but I imagine it's probably insanely busy. I used to play there back in the day, and it could get ridic busy.

My $1000 bike (Kona Dew Plus) was stolen today from the Mimico Go bike parking.

I spoke to the Go worker at the station and he mentioned I am the second person in the past week to come up to him during his shift and mention their bike is gone..

- Please be careful when leaving your bikes (especially if they are expensive) at the station

- Note that there are no cameras facing the drop off area..

This is a long shot, but if anyone sees a black Kona Dew around the neighbourhood, please let me know. Picture attached

Our board members and community neighbours attended the Mimico Train Station pop-up event to see the new vision of the (old) train station located at Royal York Rd and Judson St. Thank you u/cllrambermorley for putting this info session together.

Mapping storm drains leading into Mimico Creek

Using City of Toronto Open Data, we mapped where Etobicoke’s stormwater grates are and how they drain into Mimico Creek and, from there, Lake Ontario. It’s far from perfect, but it should help make clear just how large the area is (including stretches of the 427 and Gardiner).

Every time it rains, whatever’s on the road has to go somewhere. Across a wide stretch of Etobicoke, that somewhere is Mimico Creek.

We mapped it: thousands of street drains (marked green) flow, untreated, into the creek through about 100 outfalls — and from there, straight into Lake Ontario. No filter. No treatment plant. A grate on a street kilometres away is the start of a pipe that ends at our shoreline.

June’s diesel spill made that impossible to ignore: you could see it on the water and smell it from far. We will request a copy of the report regarding that spill and share it once we have it. In the meantime feel free to learn about Mimico Creek watershed on the TRCA page.

Councillor Amber Morley introduced a motion calling on the Province, Metrolinx, and the City of Toronto to establish a formal working group to advance the long-planned Park Lawn GO Station and other transit improvements in Humber Bay Shores. With the redevelopment of the former Christie’s site now on hold, the future of the GO station has become uncertain, despite years of planning and collaboration. The motion recognizes what residents have been saying for years now, that South Etobicoke’s rapid growth has outpaced its transit infrastructure. It seeks to ensure all levels of government continue working together to deliver the transportation improvements the community has been waiting for.

TTC targets illegal passing of streetcars with camera pilot project

The next phase of the TTC’s ongoing program to improve safety for customers launched on Monday, July 20, with a nine-month test of cameras that will catch road users who illegally pass open streetcar doors.

Four streetcars equipped with technology from B.C.-based Gatekeeper Systems will roll out on five mixed-traffic routes (501 Queen, 506 Carlton, 504 King, 511 Bathurst, and 505 Dundas). During the pilot, the cameras will measure how often illegal streetcar passing occurs and test the technology’s reliability for future automated enforcement. Tickets will not yet be issued.

Basement Flooding Protection Subsidy Program

The City has made enhancements to its Basement Flooding Protection Subsidy Program, effective May 1st.

The expanded program offers homeowners of single-family, duplex, triplex and fourplex properties up to a maximum of $6,650 in subsidies to help pay for eligible flood-protection work.

This includes a new subsidy of up to $500 towards a Home Plumbing Assessment. Learn tips to help protect your home and what supports are available here.

The West Toronto Ontario Health Team (OHT) has just launched a new Heatwave Registry for summer 2026 as part of their Climate & Health strategy.

• Community members that register will receive a phone call from a volunteer on days with extreme heat and/or air quality warnings.
• Volunteers will check to see if the individual has what they need to stay cool, offer information about nearby cooling centres, and facilitate connections to local health services as required.
• If effective, this should reduce the risk of extreme heat and prevent avoidable hospitalizations in the process.
