Something I noticed while reading the steam page

While looking at some screenshots shown on the steam page, I noticed that there are alternative colors to both Mina & her weapon of choice. This leads me to believe that maybe different weapon colors will give Mina different abilities depending on the color you choose? At least that's what I'm personally hoping.

Is anyone else going to turn off bone loss the second you start a new game?

I wasn't going to pick this up until the assist mode announcement dropped. I absolutely hate corpse run mechanics. I wouldn't be opposed to turning on the extra checkpoints too. I doubt that I'd use anything else on a first playthrough though.

With less than two weeks to go, what do you think will be the fate of YCG? How many copies will Mina realistically sell?

Now that we have impressions from the first few hours, and we’ve seen the YCG marketing machine spin up, what do you think will happen? How will the game do? Will the studio survive?

I heard this game has a no damage option, I hope that disables achievements if you have it on

Don’t know about other people but for some that like competing and sharing achievements with each other things like this can ruin that competition and comparisons

Me when reading there are lots of difficulty sliders:

So unlike most sweaty gamers, I HATE having to retry hundreds of times on the same boss fight or section and see absolutely no point in all the pain just for 5 seconds of dopamine.

I was kinda curious about Mina, but upon reading its another souls-adjacent retryfest really turned me off. that is until I read that there is an amazingly big suite of accessibility settings and difficulty options.

I am getting a little old now and just do not have the patience nor time for extremely difficult games like Hollow Knight and Elden Ring. I adore both said games dearly for everything they do but the difficulty is an extreme dealbreaker for me. I'm glad Mina is at least going to be engaging for me because I'm not hardstuck on hard bosses for hours.

Say what you will about the difficulty sliders, I may play this game day one solely because they exist. Just great to have a fun, engaging exploration and combat game like ER but with being able to actually progress without insane amounts of frustration and retries.

Best Zeldalike to wait for Mina ?

I just finished Pipistrello and I'm looking for another S-tier Zeldalike to dive into until May 29th

Already played :

Death's Door ( S-tier)

Crypt Custodian ( S-tier)

Mini shoot (S-tier)

Unsighted (A+ tier)

I was rather impressed with the level of quality and polish they poured into Pipistrello, and I have great expectations for Mina, so hit me up with your favourites that could be mine !

Spoiler-Free Preview Roundup

Just a moment ago the preview embargo lifted and critics were able to talk about their experience with the first 6-8 hours of the game. These previews show quite a lot of the game, so if you want to stay spoiler-free I would advise against watching them.

Here's a brief summary of everyone's overall thoughts about the game:

  • The game is very difficult.
  • The world and level design is extremely intricate and deceptively ambitious, much more so than the demo let on. Exploration is a massive highlight.
  • There are a vast variety of weapons, sidearms, and trinkets which are all fun to experiment with.
  • There are many, many surprises whether it be NPCs, collectibles, quests, secret bosses, etc.
  • The game is very reminiscent of soulsborne games in much more ways than just the spark you lose upon death.
  • There are an insane amount of accessibility options (over 100!), however some of them disable achievements.

Overall, the previews are very positive. Full reviews are coming May 27. (2 days before release)

PS5 or Switch?

I'm debating between the two versions for my survey. Anyone know if the PS5 version will leverage the power of the system? Maybe it won't matter much for the game? If not, the portability of the Switch version is appealing.
