my “ultra-vanilla” base

i’ve been playing minecraft for over 14 years now, but i never really got into making survival worlds until about 8 years ago. i’m sure a lot of people relate to this, but i’ve struggled a lot in the past with keeping momentum in my many past worlds.

i would always have a vision in my head that was too grand for me to ever realistically finish. many large builds i would be inspired to make required either plenty of grinding or exploiting game mechanics to build farms.

after many dissatisfied attempts at trying to play the game this way, i had a realization: i wasn’t actually playing the game the way i felt like it should be played.

about a year ago, i decided to start a new world (when the copper age released), and i gave myself a few guidelines to keep myself immersed in the world:

1. no coordinates

i used to always rely on coords when building/exploring, and its very common to see others use it too (it’s even a setting in the vanilla game). however, always having a location tracker in game felt a little too convenient for me and prevented me from being fully immersed in the world.

as a result, i turned it off and have stuck to using lodestones as an alternative, which are surprisingly handy!

2. no (exploitative) farms

any farms i’d have to look up a tutorial for wont be in my world. if i want to make a farm, i’ll need to figure it out myself. that means no iron farm, but i’ve managed pretty well (caves are literally everywhere people!!). i would say also no gold farm, but im on bedrock so i can’t build above the nether roof anyways (which #hottake should be the same for java too!!)

i also wont build a trading hall (villagers rights!!). honestly i think players should be discouraged from doing that, but villager mechanics desperately need a rework anyways

i understand why people need to make crazy farms for their mega builds, but i find gathering these resources by hand to be far more immersive and meaningful.

i should clarify this doesn’t mean “no automatic farms.” i do have an automatic honeycomb farm and temporary egg farm, but they’re small in scale and i was able to construct them without a tutorial

3. pace yourself

progression in minecraft is ankle deep, and i do wish it had more depth, but that’s a whole other tangent. i only upgraded my equipment once i got sick of replacing my current tools and armor.

staying in the early game longer gave me plenty of time to plan out my world as well, which i never properly did in previous worlds.

4. no going to the end (yet)

this is a bit of an extension of the last rule, but i don’t want to go to the end right now for a few reasons:

first, i want to build/traverse my base without the need for elytras or shulker boxes. i dont want to obtain them until its necessary.

more importantly, i dont think the end is worth exploring in its current state. i’m holding out for an end update because, quite frankly, its an incomplete dimension. i dont care if it takes years, im not going to the end until i have a better reason to.

———

these aren’t hard set rules, but since putting more thought into how i play, i’ve haven’t put this world down! i’ve been playing for a year straight and still continue to think of cool ideas i can add to it. if you feel like you can’t stay engaged with the game past the “2 week” phase, i really reccomend trying this out

Friendly building realm looking for members!!

Interested in learning how to be a better builder? Getting bored of vanilla Minecraft and looking for something new? Are you already a good builder looking for new palettes to play with? Looking for a friendly community to play with? Hiii, my name is Frosty and I’m the owner of a small, modded 18+ building realm! With several new wood types, stone types, mobs, bosses, biomes, and so much more, you’d never get bored!

For those interested in joining, I want the builds in this realm to look good. Nevertheless, if you’re not the best builder and still want to join, I’m more than happy to help you improve your skills through building! You just gotta be open to criticism, as this world is my forever realm and, to be frank, I don’t want it looking like shit. If you’re looking to improve, this is the place for you!

Beyond that, I do have a few stipulations. I wanna keep this realm 18+, so no kiddos allowed. Secondly, we are LGBTQ+ and 🍃 friendly over here! Finally, if you’re gonna join and then disappear, please don’t join. I want active members here!

I know that seems like a lot, but to be honest we are a very chill realm! It really boils down to the builds looking good, improving your building skills, maintaining a friendly and accepting environment, and fostering a friendly community!

If you have any questions or are interested in joining, you can dm me either here or on discord, my username is sillybillyeveresto. Hope to hear from you soon!

Quad Creeper farm

The rates are ~4,340 (~68 stacks) per hour and uses chunks and block path finding. Each farm is 6 layers high (max for 4 chunk base).

My storage house

Each 9 block uses the standard copper golem sorting. I have enough for 1 chest for every Minecraft block (expanded in anticipation of the new drop).

Why doesn't Minecraft Bedrock have a reverting feature to older versions?

I Don't like the new versions, I know I can revert to older versions through websites, but this method is not smooth and is not official. Adding a feature to switch between versions, like Java, would be great, especially for the old Minecraft Bedrock versions when it was called PE. It was really interesting and playable, especially versions 0.15 and 1.0.0.

Best way to get Emeralds by trading?

I know this has been asked thousands of times but I can't find anything lesser than a year ago. They might be outdated and stuff. So I started a small villager prison trading area and my librarians have protection IV Unbreaking III, Feather falling IV, and still searching for mending. Although my way of only getting emeralds is mining the trees nearby and just making sticks. I'm in progress of my sugarcane farm that doesn't INVOLVE redstone so if you recommend anything for that i guess just drop it down.

For my progress-

- Full diamond armor

- Diamond tools

- 1%progress to the nether (I already have the portal)

- Started playing this game 1.4 months ago although I have very much knowledge due to how much I watch videos about it

- DOES NOT have any enchantments on armor lately (due to low emerald production)

What I need

- I want someone to tell me what's the most efficient way of trading to get more emeralds cuz I just mine trees out of it.

- a nice way to move villagers on a 2nd floor or something

- a good farm of sticks/any item you recommend me to trade with villagers

I hope alot of experts see this thank you.

Rarity Comparison

So I'm apart of a server with an economy, really just meaning that there are stores, and in the server is a store/library that sells swift sneak for 5 diamond blocks and i'm currently selling 1 netherite ingot for 12 diamonds, so i'm just wondering if i should raise my prices.

Has mojang ever said anything about letting people other than the owner download a realm world ?

This seems like an obvious feature to add so that way if the owner loses interest other people can keep going.

Why are Java players so misinformed?

Honestly, I don't care if anyone prefers Java to Bedrock and vice versa. It's a huge open-ended sandbox game with millions of players. So naturally people are going to gravitate or favor different versions, platforms, and features.

But what does bother me, is just how misinformed Java players are when it comes to Bedrock.

I feel like I constantly see "Bedrock can't use shaders" or "you have to pay for data packs/add-ons". Which is just straight up not true, dude.

There's a huge and vibrant community of modders and creators that have been supporting this game for years. I mean, BetterRTX, Better on Bedrock, Bedrock Tweaks, and PrizmaVisuals are super well known and easy to download/install.

I really really prefer Bedrock over Java

Maybe I am a bit biased since I grew up with pocket edition but having tried both versions in PC, Bedrock feels more welcoming. Maybe its the menu? Feels more intuitive and especially the lighting. I know they use different engines and when I loaded into Java it kinda felt dull. Bedrock feels more warmer

I grew up with Bedrock (pocket edition technically) and its really special to me as someone who grew up not having a PC and when my first PC sucked so it ran Java so bad compared to Bedrock
