Thinking about selling Evo X MR with SST transmission issues

I have a 2014 Evo X MR and it's been my daily for almost 113,000 miles.

About a week ago the car started skipping gears and then eventually went limp. Error codes indicate a shift fork 1 issue and others that might be a result of it. So it looks like I will need to rebuild the trans.

I priced things out with Jacks Transmissions and Kozmic to upgrade the forks and replace the original clutches, as well as RRE to pull the trans. All in we're looking at about $7k unless more issues are found. While I love my Evo, I feel like that money could be better utilized elsewhere. I've owned it for almost 12 years, and I'm in a much different space in my life. I know selling it 'as is' could net very little, but I'm also hesitant to pour more into this car.

Thoughts on what you would advise or do if you were in my situation? Or how much I could potentially sell this for 'as is'?

Evo 8 no start, rich afr

Hello, I just got my evo 8 back from the shop a few hours ago, he put in a built head, s2 cams, injectors and intake, and tuned me on SD and e85. Ran great for a few hours but my afr started reading 8 at idle and idle overall is rough, either bogging down or running a bit high. Now the car won’t start at all, the fuel pump will prime but no crank whatsoever. Pretty concerned and if anyone has any idea as to what is wrong I would appreciate the input.

2001 Evo 7

Over the months, I’ve been doing bits and pieces. Need some work done on the engine lifters and some bits of interior trims and it’ll be done 100%.

Coolant going down to LOW mark of tank in just 6 months normal?

I brought my car to Automotive Excellence in Huntington Beach, CA last December because my radiator was leaking badly, and I didn’t have much choice but to have it repaired to avoid damaging the engine.
They charged me about $1,000 to install aftermarket Torque Solutions silicone radiator hoses. I specifically asked for OEM rubber hoses, but they told me those would cost even more. At the time, I checked with several other shops, and most quoted between $400 and $600 for the same type of repair. Although I felt the price was very high, Automotive Excellence had excellent reviews, so I decided to trust them and hoped the work would be done properly.
Fast forward about six months, and I’ve noticed the coolant level in the overflow reservoir has gradually dropped to nearly the “Low” mark. I’ve been checking it regularly over the past several months and have seen it slowly decrease over time. I also noticed dried coolant residue around the T-valve cap connector.
I brought the car back to Automotive Excellence and explained my concerns. They inspected it and told me there were no leaks. When I pointed out that the coolant level keeps dropping and showed them the coolant residue, they said it was normal because coolant evaporates over time, and that the residue was likely caused by opening the cap.
The problem is, I’ve never opened that cap.
Is this actually normal on an Evo X? I’m asking because I’m frustrated and honestly don’t believe this is normal. At the same time, I want to give the shop the benefit of the doubt before I jump to conclusions or take any further action.
Thank you very much for any advice or insight.

Northern Virginia Evo Shop to keep my rally car in top condition

Pic for attention

Currently my car is stored in NJ and am planning to move it to VA.

I'm looking for a shop that can work on the car (pre-rallly and post-rally prep) and also any damages that happen during the rally.

In addition to that, be able to spare 2-3 people during the rally week. Usually Wed-Sunday. This will be a paid gig and Lodging and food will be covered.

Any leads?

Car shuts off after ~10 seconds with brand new ignition coils but stays running with old coils?

Has anyone experienced this before?

I have a 2003 Mitsubishi Evolution 8.
My mechanic diagnosed an ignition coil issue after the car developed severe misfiring, rough idle, and shaking both at idle and while driving. Various diagnostic tests pointed towards a faulty genuine OEM ignition coil.

We’ve tried multiple sets of coils:

* Brand new OEX aftermarket coils: Engine starts and runs perfectly smooth, but shuts itself off after about 10 seconds every time.

* Brand new NGK aftermarket coils: Exactly the same result as the OEX coils.

* Second hand GOSS coils: They pass a resistance test and the car runs smoothly for around 5 minutes, then gradually starts shaking and misfiring again.

* Second Hand Genuine OEM Mitsubishi coils: Same as the GOSS coils- they test fine on resistance, run smoothly for around 5 minutes, then the misfiring and shaking return.

resistance test: all show up as good resistance except 1 of my genuine OEM ignition coil

So both the GOSS and genuine OEM coils test within spec, but neither actually fixes the issue. The aftermarket OEX and NGK coils make the engine run perfectly but then it consistently stalls after about 10 seconds.

Has anyone seen this happen before or have any idea what could cause this? Is there something else that could be causing the coils to behave this way, or something that should be checked before replacing more parts?
Already done a leakdown test, checked for vaccum leak and replaced spark plugs, ignition coil leads

I’m open to any suggestions at this point because this one has everyone scratching their heads.

Has anyone experienced this before or have any idea why brand new aftermarket coils would make the engine run smoothly but then consistently stall after about 10 seconds, while the old coils keep it running (albeit poorly)?

Volk TE37 SAGA S-Plus 18x9.5 +22

I have an Evo 9 and a friend of mine has Volk TE37 SAGA S-Plus 18x9.5 +22 offset and is willing to hook me up with the set since he sold the car they were on. I am on BC coilovers and really wanna use the wheels, is this generally an easy bolt on or do I have to roll the fenders I tried looking it up and I have heard that I will have to roll from some people and others swearing I wont. Does anyone have this set up on their car and if so what was installation and daily living with them? Thanks in advance. I'm currently on the stock SE BBS
