Why do people rave about Flacos Tacos?

This is consistently the worst taco truck I've had in modesto. I just gave their new mchenry location a try, and its the same thing. The meat is way too fatty, a little fat is ok but I was constantly spitting out pieces of fat, the flavor is bland, the seasonings are just not there. So to the people that always mention flacos when someone asks for a taco truck recommendation, what is your reasoning? They're the most expensive and worst tasting tacos in town.

I’m a local, and I’m reaching out today because I want to help tackle a massive problem in our community: the isolation epidemic.
Modern dating apps like Tinder and Hinge focus so much on polished perfection. For those of us living with clinical depression, social anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, or neurodivergence, trying to find connection can feel incredibly high-pressure. We often feel like we have to hide our struggles on a first date out of fear of judgment.
That’s why I want to launch a new, peer-led community project called Imbalanced Hearts.
My goal is to host low-pressure, structured community mixers and speed-dating events right here in town where people can be 100% authentic from minute one. To keep it a completely safe and anxiety-free space, I want to build it around a few strict rules:
🔴 Color-Coded Boundaries: Guests get a Green, Yellow, or Red wristband to instantly signal how much they feel like sharing that day.
🤐 Zero Rejection: We use a "Silent Match" scorecard system. Nobody trades numbers face-to-face, protecting everyone's emotional safety.
🔒 Strict Privacy: A zero-tolerance policy for gossip or sharing members' details outside the circle.
How you can help:
I eventually want to grow this into a formal, free community resource or official nonprofit, but I am not asking for any money. Right now, I am just looking for passionate people to help me build the foundation.
I would love to connect with local mental health advocates, licensed counselors, or quiet local venue owners who might want to volunteer advice or safe spaces to help launch our very first event.

Today is adoption day at the Stanislaus County animal shelter. If you are looking for a dog/puppy to adopt or foster, volunteers will be at the shelter at 11 am-4 pm today. There are dogs/puppies on the euthanasia list for early tomorrow morning. Euthanasia listed dogs fees a usually waived.

Elderly Dog Found

Found this guy early this morning in Turlock. Very friendly. Likely deaf. Vet said he’s chipped (Named Bobac) but wouldn’t give us phone number or address because owner has a security block on it. Vet said owners not responding despite several contact attempts today. Gave him a bath and food/water. He has no issues with out other dogs. Stan county shelter said they would not take him because Turlock is out of their jurisdiction. Please let me know if you can help, we cannot keep him due to already having dogs and having a daycare at the house.

Can anyone help this kitten on McHenry Ave on the side of habit burger?

I dash and I saw the cats paw earlier next to a bush and just assumed a cat was resting. Hours later I came back to keep dashing and I saw it moved a bit and it's a kitten that looks so weak and dirty. It's probably hungry. I got some cold water for it and it immediately started drinking it and I also wet him a bit to cool him down. I cannot take him and don't want to leave it to die but idk what I can do for it. It's right paw looks damaged pretty bad.

Like I said it's at McHenry and Briggs more. It's right on the side by the bushes in between jersey Mike's and Habit Burger.

Update! Cats been rescued

Big haha too you high and mighty people trying to judge me on my last post for not wanting to take it to the vet where I always hear people say they will just kill them . I'm glad someone was able to find people to take care of it and will try to rehome it. And Idc about the people who said I was leaving it to its death and will still talk in this psoy. Yea that's why I got it food and water and posted him.

But yea cats been picked up 👌

LOCAL Serial Cat Abusers

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do research before you try and rehome cats. This situation has been going on for so long, and I'm sad to say it is still actively happening right now. Police reports are being made, people are trying to help the cats, etc. but this guy and his wife are STILL trying to get cats every day. They are all over the valley and bay area and haven't let up. He is torturing these cats, but little can be done because we don't have video evidence of the act itself. We need help with a PI, maybe. No matter how many posts are made on them or how much we personally warn people, he is still manipulating people to get more. Please keep your eyes open for these freaks, and please help in advising others. If you have any info or can help in any way, please reach out.

Costco Gas today

Thank you Costco $4.89 sounds good to me.

It was the first time I got to fill up for under $50 😂 stupid but made me happy.

They don’t take cash so they don’t charge extra for debit or credit.

$4.89 reg/$5.09 premium Riverbank location.

And diesel is $5.69

Citi bank or Costco credit card members 5% back approx $.23-26 cents off also according to gas testing and professionals Costco gas is better for your car compared to many others.

Tree name identification help!

Hoi! I’ve been wanting to know the name of that tree you see around dry creek trails. It’s my fav tree I don’t know the name of it.

The trunk looks like it was painted with different shades of white gray and tans. Mainly white and it’s really large. If you slowly remove bark it becomes a different color of the shades. It has dark leaves. They’re extremely large! I’ve spent an hour looking for the name online. But no luck

Greetings from Finland!

I recently found out that there's a street called 'Pirinen Lane' in Modesto and I have a reason to believe the name might be connected to my family somehow. Does anyone have any information on why It's called that? It's a fairly obscure family name in Finland and it's kinda wild to run into it in California.
