1987 Monte Carlo LS

Hey everyone, I’m 19 and recently got a 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS 2-door with the 4.3L V6, and I’m joining because I’m trying to learn as much as I can about these cars and fix mine up myself. It runs and drives, but I’ve got a pretty long list of things I’m working through: the entire dash isn’t working — fuel gauge, speedometer, odometer, etc. — the dash/interior lights don’t work, the dome light isn’t working, the right turn signal and side marker have intermittent issues (especially after rain), and there’s some wiring that looks like it was previously messed with. I’ve also dealt with stalling and bogging issues in the past that ended up being related to a vacuum leak/sensor issue, and I’m still working through some body damage from an accident. Right now, my biggest focus is figuring out the turn signal/side marker problem and getting the dome light working, since I’d really like to get all the basic electrical stuff sorted out. I’m pretty new to working on cars, but I genuinely enjoy learning and figuring things out, and I just bought my first multimeter so I’m trying to diagnose problems properly instead of just throwing parts at them. Looking forward to learning from everyone and hopefully getting t

Anyone else had problems with gbodyparts.com?

I recently ordered some parts from gbodyparts.com for the first time and have been super disappointed with their service. They sent me the wrong parts twice, which has resulted in delays to repair an El Camino as well as the time and gas to send them back the wrong parts. Anyone else had these issues? Alternatively, can anyone recommend a better supplier? Mikesmonties? Dixie Restoration? I will need to purchase additional parts for a restoration and need better service to meet a deadline. Thanks!

2005 Monte Carlo Lt Crank Sensor

So my car recently stalled one day, and i figured it was a fuel problem (clogged fuel filter/weak fuel pump) because it only started with foot on gas. Got on ramps, it started on a incline which is weird. Drove it off ramps and it ended up stalling 10 min later. Tried to start it again, nothing. Then i Shook the car, it started for a second and ended up cutting off again. Was talking to my dad he said it could be sum stuff in fuel tank clogged up filter. So i ended up calling mobile mechanic to diagnose bc i dont have time to work or diagnose the car like that. He said it was a crank sensor, and labor is 750! Now im no professional mechanic but he talking bout he gotta pull the whole passenger side off. Now i watched sum videos basically took the belt off, crank pulley and a plastic piece off and sensor off and repeat. Me personally i dont think that is worth 750 and the part is 175 i believe so thats pushing 1k+ (including 85 diagnostic fee). Basically i just wanted to see if thats a fair price, right diagnostic, should i still drop the tank/replace fuel filter. Any advice is appreciated. 3.8L v6 btw
