I discovered a collection of moss and small plants in my backyard and decided to create something beautiful by combining them. I’d love some help identifying them.
Not sure if this belongs here or another sub, and will happily repost elsewhere if needed and pointed in the right direction.
I’m trying to dig around into making a moss lawn instead of the very weedy grass mess I have right now. I’ve done some very little looking into it so far, and then realized there was probably a sub somewhere that deals with this sort of thing.
I’m in northern RI, which I believe is zone 2? But I don’t know if there’s a different map for these things than the one I’ve seen years ago, I don’t remember it super clearly.
Any pointers and suggestions and advice would be very welcome!
Update from last post, I now have 3 different species of Clubmoss. I know they are not true mosses but I figure it would still be appreciated. Lycopodiella appressa, commonly known as Southern Bog-clubmoss. Staghorn clubmoss (Lycopodium clavatum). And now Pseudolycopodiella caroliniana, known as slender bog club-moss / Carolina Bog Clubmoss.
Hi all!
I've recently tried setting up some containers with moss under a grow light but have had no luck getting it to grow.
I cut up the grown moss I had and spread it across some wet spaghum moss and placed it under my t5 barrina led grow light and have seen no growth whatsoever any tips or help would be appreciated
Attached is a picture of my setup!
it goes from dry and dead to beautiful and green 50 seconds after you mist it. I LOVE IT! Not the stringy guys I'm pretty sure that's spagnum moss. Also I would like to know if my isopods can munch on it and if I can keep it underwater permanently. If no one knows I'll just test it in a jar. Also how would I go about making as much of this as possible. I NEED MORE!
Live in the PNW so moss is kinda everywhere, but we want to encourage it to grow in our newly laid patio. Filled the gaps w/ a layer of sphagnum moss and some sifted native/ yard soils over sand. All the moss bits are harvested from random parts of our yard. I think 3-4 different varieties.
I know moss is slow growing, anything we can do to help it along?
