Busted rim. Hit a large tree limb that had fallen in the road at about 50. Lucky I kept her up but rim’s busted and will need to be replaced.

this sound here is really louder than the engine. maybe it helps finding the problem? THANK YOU ALL!

I went to have a look at an used (5000km) 2022 V7 special.
The motorcycle is in pristine shape. It looks like it just left the showroom.
However, two things threw me off while testriding:

1. the exhaust/headers have very different coloring. I will attach pictures if its possible.
2. the engine makes a really annoying hissing/rattling sound (metallic).

- this sound does not change in frequency/pitch (higher-lower sound)
- it gets louder/quieter depending on the RPM, not the speed.
- it is not the gearbox, because it is there in neutral with high RPM, as well as while riding.
- it is always present (cold/hot engine)
- the sound can be best heard in the standard seating position. if i move my head back/right/left, the sound gets quieter. it is not my helmet btw.
- the motorcycle accelerates fine, no big vibrations, no power "holes", no stuttering.

I have tried the V7 special 2026 and it definitely did not have that sound.

Now the owner will take it to service (after i told him, he heard it too) for a "big" service (valve clearance, etc.)

Does anyone have experience with this and should i avoid buying this beautiful machine? I really dont want this to be part of the "character" because it is so loud you cant hear the beautiful engine itself.

PS: I have two audiofiles. One is original (where its hard to hear), the other is manipulated with EQ to single out the sound: it is best described as "metallic cicadas that dont pause". im sorry its so hard to describe.

I have a 2022 moto guzzi v7 with 3500km on the odo.

I have mistral exhausts on it with db killers.

I have also bought upmap from guareschi and have installed the map for aftermarket exhaust with dbkillers.

It is alot better BUT I have a big hole when under acceleration from 5000 to 6000rpm.

The bikes pulls strong from dead start to 5000rpm, then stutters and barely accelerates until about 6000rpm and then pulls again like crazy from 6000rpm to the rev limiter.

I would think this is normal if it wasn't the fact that after 6000rpm the bike pulls strong again !

Do you have the same on your bike ?

Any help on how to repair this lack of power from 5000 to 6000 is appreciated
