Proof of Two Campus Urban Legends

(edit - videos in comments)

Hey all,

I went to State about ten years ago. I have proof that two campus urban legends are real: the Dragon Room and the Penthouse at the top of Swalm. For those unfamiliar:

Dragon Room (do not attempt to go here)
- there are drain tunnels underneath campus that have secret chambers. Some of the tunnels are from the 1800's and run directly under the drill field. If you crawl through these tunnels (I don't recommend) you will eventually reach a chamber with a giant dragon mural on a green background, allegedly created by students in the 70's.

Swalm Penthouse
- the donor who funded Swalm back in the late 90's built a penthouse on the top floor of Swalm, opposite of the President's office in Lee. The donor died shortly after it was built and the internet says it was written out of the plans. It actually was built. It has bedrooms and a glitzy bathroom with a porcelain and gold toliet. It also has a wet bar facing the drill field. It is true that it was used for events and meetings, but it look abandoned when I saw it. No telling if its still there.

I have the proof if anyone is actually interested

State sports podcast recommendations?

The title pretty much says it all. I’m just looking for a good podcast or two that covers the big State sports.

Refunds

I’ve heard many different things about when refunds/disbursements will come. Has anyone gotten theirs yet or know when they will be processed? Signed, a broke student. Thanks.

Kamario Taylor Is Going To Take Over College Football This Season

Just found this video breaking down Kamario Taylor’s film vs Ole Miss, and just wanted to share it with everyone with football season coming up. For an Ole Miss fan to say this much good about our QB says a lot. I’m excited for saturdays this year!

Huge Question about Allen.

I have a class listed in “Allen Administration Building,” Room 21. There’s no “Allen Administration Building” on the campus map. I assume it meant Allen Hall, but from what I can tell there’s only an A21, not a plain room 21. Does Allen Administration Building, 21 mean A21 in Allen Hall or is there another building I don’t know about?

Distance Between Classes

Does anyone know how to get to class on time when they’re on the opposite sides of campus?! I have 10 minutes to get from Harned to get to Hunter Henry to get to Hand, respectively. What?! I’m a freshman in Griffis & am kinda losing my mind. I know I can rely on the central shuttle line to get to all these relatively quickly, but I can’t bank on it always being available at the exact moment I need to ride. Please help!

Maroon Market Hours

I've tried to go into the maroon market at griffis twice and both time it's been locked? I've seen someone go in before so does anyone know why it would be locked? The dining website says open 24 hours

Recent switch to MicroBio, any tips for Orgo I & II?

I recently decided to swap from Clinical Laboratory Sciences to Microbiology because, long story short, the unpaid required internship situation I had lined up wouldn't be able to happen.

I don't mean to get personal, but this past year I've had a multitude of health problems. Gen Chem II alone hit me hard with how much I struggled trying to teach myself. The extent of which was so "bad" my class largely didn't come or would attend Nettles the hour before (I had a language class at that time).

In addition to having stress induced seizures & ADHD, I was also diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that is also stress induced. This really made last year as a transfer a difficult transition despite being a typically change-friendly person.

Anyways, I usually get good grades despite my problems besides the ADHD that impairs my studying. Essentially what I'm asking is: has anyone with terrible ADHD & stress-prone health issues got tips for handling Orgo I & II ? I'm aware they're hard classes and I really just have to go into them and test it. If it helps, I got lucky with a spot in Stokes' class, but any additional help would greatly be appreciated. Unfortunately due to my job hours, tutoring isn't very possible unless it was something unofficial.

making payments while full ride

okay, so, this could be a super stupid question. i'm an upcoming freshman and my tuition is fully covered (i got awarded HELP). do i still need to make payments with my scholarship money? do i do nothing? i just need extra explanation (i'm really bad with finances and i don't understand them very well, so i thought maybe someone here could explain the process!)

most of the stuff through msu on making payments doesn't really explain what to do when you're full ride. thank you for any help you can give me!!

Grad TA Tuition Waiver

Hi there! I’m an incoming PhD student and I am curious as to when our accounts will reflect the tuition waiver. I’m having to take some loan money out to help cover personal expenses and could really use this money asap to move in and not delay anything further. Does anybody know anything? Haha, thanks in advance!

Bus times

Im planning on taking the bus to avoid traffic/having to park somedays. I have to hop on a bus from Mallory Lane, dropped off at the hospital, and picked up to go to Old main.

How much time should I allow before my class?

Best way to hang stuff on dorm walls???

I saw on the housing website that they recommended thumbtacks/pushpins and that command strips aren't allowed, but what else is allowed and good to use that won't damage the walls?????
