Engineering Laptop

So I have an old M1 Macbook Air that I've been using for years, and I know that I'm gonna have to get a new laptop at some point for engineering. I'm an incoming freshman and I was wondering if I need to get it before my freshman year or can I get it sometime later? Thanks!

Band??

I’m an ICC transfer going into my junior year at state. For those in band, how have you enjoyed it? Was doing it worth it? And did you take part in both marching and concert band in the fall?

Mold in residence halls

Hi I’m a student at state who has lived in residence halls for 2 years. I’ve seen mold in my room and others. Just curious if anyone else has had the same experience?

Is Sanderson Packed during the Summer?

Hey everyone! I’m planning to start using the Sanderson Center this summer and was wondering how busy it usually gets during summer break.

Is the gym still pretty packed, or is it a lot less crowded than during the regular semester? Also, what are the best times to go if I’m trying to avoid waiting for equipment?

I’m mostly interested in the stair master but any advice about the overall busiest and quietest times would be appreciated. Thanks!

Anybody with a similar schedule?

I plan to attend MSU for Electrical Engineering this fall as a freshmen but with 2 years of community college/dual enrollment done. Is this difficult? I’ve been straight As in HS and at community college, but university straight up scares me with how much people talk about math courses online.

Financial aid (filled out for the wrong year)

I chose the wrong year when applying for my financial aid (2025-2026) I spent all this time wondering why my financial aid package was taking so long and turns out it was my fault…I’m very upset I know there’s no one to blame but me but genuinely am I cooked now? Does this mean no financial aid at all? I went and corrected it today (literally right before fafsa deadline) and when I made a call to the financial aid department I got mixed responses? One saying my financial aid package would be processed the other saying I would need a payment plan until it kicks in (I can’t afford that) has this happened to you guys?should I be scared

Printers

Hi Hello!
I am going to be a Freshman at State and was wondering about the consensus of bringing a printer into the dorms!

I didn't get to ask at orientation because it flew over my head, but if anyone from the sub can give me any answers to these questions it would be greatly appreciated :)

- How much does it cost to use the printers?
- Are all the printers the same cost?
- Is it worth to bring my own for convience? (I'll be @ Griffis and am a CE student)

disability question

(i wasn't sure how to flair this post, so i picked advice as it seems closest)

hello! i am starting at msu in august as a freshman and i'm majoring in biochemistry premed and doing the cursus honorum honors pathway. i'm asking this question to see if anyone has been in a similar situation and knows an answer!

so for context i have suspected endometriosis, which if you don't know is a disease that causes very severe pain. i have textbook symptoms that very much impact my life and it definitely made high school more difficult at times. it also causes me to have severe hip and pelvic pain that can cause mobility issues for several days out of the month. i never tried to seek out accommodations in high school because i was too scared to ask for help for something like that, which made school much more difficult and stressful. i don't want to do that again, especially with a higher workload than i had in high school.

anyways, the issue is, i will not be able to get a formal diagnosis anytime soon because the only way to diagnose this disease is through surgery. i know you need to show documentation to get accommodations through the DRC, so i was wondering if for example a note from my primary doctor (or possible specialist if i'm able to be seen by one soon) saying that this suspected disease negatively impacts my life would be enough documentation.

if anyone could help or give me advice that would be very much appreciated!! thank you!!

Bulldog bundle

I’m an upcoming freshmen going into electrical engineering. I took dual enrollment at a CC so I already have my general ed out the way, I’m wondering do I need the bulldog bundle or is it possible to wait till classes start for me to figure it out. I don’t want to pay an extra 300 if I don’t have to. Or should I just stay in it because it’s engineering and math heavy?

Healthy food to eat here?

Hey, I’m a freshmen and I plan to workout at MSU to get in shape. Since it’s required to have the meal plan, what is the best places I could go to stack up on protein and overall just be healthy during my tenure at the college?

Is the National Recognition Program scholarship guaranteed if you have the award?

Question is in the title, is it a competitive scholarship with the award just being a requirement, or do you get it so long as you have the award, thank you

Parking for night time classes/exams

Is a permit required? I usually park at the old campus book mart, but if I can park a little closer during night time hours that would be great!

Im getting sick of these humble braggers in the ZeeMee gc 🫩

There always has to be someone that will ask a question to the Ask a Counselor forum, but the question has such an obvious answer. Like this one girl was like “Oh I have enough scholarships and enough money to pay my tuition in full but I was told by someone at orientation that I couldn’t“ when that clearly was a question for the finance office. Im not even jealous, like good for you but theres others on here that could be struggling to find ways to pay their tuition. Idk bro i may be over reacting but I see it so much on this app its annoying 💀
