Watching Kitchen Nightmares S3 E2.

A Wonderful Life leaves me with mixed feelings. I don't consider it a bad album; on the contrary, it's clear that Mushroomhead put a lot of creativity and intention into this new era. There's a genuine desire to evolve and experiment, but that ambition never fully comes together.

I feel like the album tries to cover too many ideas at once. The addition of new vocalists and the push toward a more cinematic sound sometimes make it feel unfocused. I think the record would have been much stronger if it had been trimmed by about three songs.

Jackie LaPonza is one of the album's greatest strengths, but also one of its most underutilized. Her voice brings a unique atmosphere, and songs like "Where the End Begins" showcase the incredible potential of this era, even though her role ends up being far too limited.

Tracks like "The Flood," "The Heresy," "Where the End Begins," "Carry On," and "11th Hour" represent the album at its best, showing a Mushroomhead capable of creating rich, almost theatrical atmospheres.

My biggest criticism is the lack of cohesion. There are some truly great moments, but they aren't enough to give the album a strong, unified identity. Even so, I have a certain affection for it because you can genuinely feel the artistic ambition behind it. It's not a masterpiece, but it's far from a bad album either—it's a transitional record full of strong ideas that never quite come together into a fully realized whole.

I love old school.

I went to see them Friday night @ Phantom Power in Millerville, PA. It was a great show! I've never seen any iteration of Mushroomhead live sadly but this made up for it.

I wish I had a set list. I can remember most of what they played. Alot off XIII. A few from XX. A few from Savior Sorrow. I was hoping they played more older stuff as that's my favorite era but was happy nonetheless.

They did play Devils be Damned off of Righteous. I tried taking some pics but they didn't turn out at all. My son's buddy got footage though.

I wanted to try to get pics with the band, esp J-Mann and stitch. I was able to get one with Waylon tho. I look like shit in it but that was pretty cool.

The first opener, Deep Within I believe, they were pretty good. Wasn't a big fan of the rappers tho.

So, I’ve been a fan since the late 90’s, got into them at the exact same time with Slipknot, for the same and different reasons….
First show was at Trocodero in Philadelphia 2004….
DIE hard since than…..
Was front of stage times several times for them since, notably Gramercy NYC 2011 and Toads Place New Haven, forget the year, with many memorable shows along the way too….

Tonight, in Hamden, was like being in a time machine back to those days….

The band sounded perfect…..

Super shout out to Dan for going out of his way to give me a Marilyn Manson setlist after shooting the shit with him after the show…

Any and every one who CAN go to this tour, PLEASE GO!!!! It’s everything a fan of Mushroomhead could possibly want from legacy members who genuinely are putting heart and soul into this project….

It needs to keep rolling and becoming something both old school and fresh/exciting!!!!!!

Last time I actually saw Mushroomhead live was summer 2005 in Hartford. So much fun hearing those songs live again. Brought some photos I took from two 2004 shows and a mask I made in high school art class around that same time. I know most of the band is also busy outside this but I hope they come back to New England in the future.
