The way everyone pronounces 'sociology' in this show

I'm watching Season 3 right now and I'm at the part where Jackie gets a C on an assignment in sociology. I had to pause and rewind after hearing 'sociology' pronounced as so-she-ology instead of so-see-ology a few too many times.

I'm not even complaining, this show is so fun to watch, I just had to make sure someone else noticed this too so I don't feel crazy.

Some of the intentional jokes in this show are really funny too. I love the part where Cole drives to the school after he gets suspended and the girl asks "What are you doing here, I thought you were suspended?" and he responses "Yeah, but not from the parking lot." 😂

With the notable exception of the Walter family, the characters have no siblings 😭

I’m putting Jackie and Richard in a separate category, since their respective sisters have passed away

It’s crazy that the only place with siblings is the Walter household!!

Unless I’m mistaken, Grace, Skylar, Dylan, Erin, Kylie, etc, don’t have siblings or at least none have been mentioned which is pretty odd, since you certainly don’t see an only child in every single household. It’s a bit of a shame, really; having a sibling here or there would have made things feel more lively. But I guess managing a big family takes up all the screen time.

Hot take: Nathan is a narcissist and not a good guy!

Often, I see Nathan described and sweet and sensitive, but I feel like he's a kind of a bad dude!

His relationship with Skylar shows a pretty recognizable pattern of love-bombing, validation-seeking, selfishness, and making his insecurities someone else's problem.

True to narc form, the aggressively lovebombed Skylar and needed constant validation. He publicly cheats (with very little remorse) the first time he gets attention from someone new, instantly replacing his boyfriend with Zach. After realizing Zach played him, he runs back to his old supply (Skylar) and expects him to take him back. Nathan's biggest issue isn't simply cheating. It's the contrast between how intensely he pursues someone when he wants their love and how carelessly he treats them once he has it.

Much like a narcissist, he seems less addicted to a particular person than to the feeling of being wanted... I feel like Skylar gets a lot of hate online, but it's Nathan that's the real villain in this story!

Alex & Cole

I swear Alex has some moments that are pure ragebait. wtf kind of thing to say to someone, let alone your brother, that he will end up on the streets? Who even says that and why would Cole end up on the streets?? I even wanted to laugh because it felt absolutely random. Also, he didn’t even wanted to hear Cole out, just made it all about himself and took it completely out of proportion. Maybe I’ll blame it on the bad writing…

Where does Cole go? S3E1

In the very first scene with cole he walks out of his bedroom only wearing a towel. His body is wet.
So why does he not come out of a bathroom? where does he go? can anyone explain to me where the bathroom is and where he stores his clothes?

Random thoughts on my S1-3 rewatch

 1. I never drank coffee in HS. Is it normal for HS kids to be downing 2-3 cups of coffee a day?! Seems excessive. I think they even drink it black. They’re just grabbing from the coffee pot round the clock??
 2. Erin and Danny- season 2 Erin and Danny had drama because Danny wanted to plan their future together and Erin thought they should live in the moment as they seemed to be heading different directions… but now they are getting married?! Ok then, Erin.

Also Erin continues to have some hostile resentment towards Cole for someone supposedly in love with his twin brother. I mean her being mad last season Danny helped him when he got in a fight at the dance. Now she’s mad her boyfriend, and ex’s twin doesn’t want to talk about the past relationship?! Like why would he. I get that Cole hurt her and that sucked and she can feel some type of way. But he’s still Danny’s twin. She sounded like Richard and mini Richie when she said to Jackie oh well whenever things get real, Cole bails.

 1. I know Alex will end up with Kylie. But I wish she’d chose Dylan because he saw her from the start and is really growing with her as a person. Meanwhile Alex is self proclaimed still in love with Jackie , treated Kylie terrible , and now wants her bc Dylan made her cool. MEH.

 2. Sky is the best and he was way too nice to Nathan this season after last seasons disaster.

 3. Paige is the worst every season. I’d love for them to exit her along with Will and mini Richie.

 4. Can we start a petition to bring back Grace/Isaac ❤️

 5. Katherine is so gorgeous. That’s all I gotta say on that. Edit- how did she have 8 kids while working as a vet for 15 years?!?! What kind of maternity leave does she have in rural Colorado!!

Alright there’s my rant. My friends got tired of me texting them about this so here I am 😂😂

Mac is cringe

And gives off perv vibes. Why are you pushing cole to start racing? Telling him he was born to do this? Wtf bye stranger, stop messing with a kid’s head!

Adults in this show piss me off, except for katherine and George

Idk how Katherine is okay w Jackie and Alex/Cole

Like that whole concept of taking in an orphaned girl and finding her making out with two of my sons is insaaannnneeeee basically back to back. Idk how Katherine did not do an ultimatum. That whole “talk” to the older kids about safe sex is not enough. She needed to be more stern and tell them to go fuck other people 😭 like I agreed w uncle Richard when he wanted to separate the two during the grounding. I cannot imagine seeing one of my son’s with a girl happy and in love, and a couple months later she’s sucking face of another son?!? EWWWW. Hell nah. She would’ve been kicked out. Uncle Richard seems to know how to raise teens, he should take her. Girl bye. You cannot come into my house, play with my kids, and argue with me on how you know better?!? Pls.
And the blame is also on the boys but ultimately they’re my kids. I will ground them at home and school them. Or kick them out.
Overall what I’m saying is idk how Katherine could stomach Jackie switching between the boys and how she was okay w the boys going after Jackie. All three needed a good sit down.

Dylan was right in his request to Alex

Dylan was absolutely right to ask Alex to give Kiley some space and to back off. From Dylan's perspective, he couldn't even go on one date with Kiley, just the two of them, because of Alex's insistence on always tagging along with them everywhere they went. Dylan tried to be sweet and friendly at first about the situation, but he also wanted some time with just his girlfriend. He also saw how rude Alex was to Kiley's friend, and I wonder if Kiley told him that Alex kissed her. I don't blame Dylan at all for asking Alex to give Kiley some space and back off.

Morgan

Anyone else find it curious that “Morgan” is introduced in the S1 Finale—final scene of Will and Hayley, it’s 10 p.m. on their wedding night, Hayley gets a message and ignores it/lies to Will—and then >!!<Morgan isn’t mentioned again for almost two seasons and around a year or so later in the show? And then it’s just casually dropped that Morgan is her ex? And now Hayley moving two time zones away to work with her?>!!<

For Hayley having next to zero screen time this season (not complaining), they sure made this buildup seem rather dramatic, and drawn out. I don’t know what my theory here is, but I find it curious.

Jackie and the community space

I find it weird that she asked people to help get it going, then she makes all the decisions herself. She's the only one who speaks to the councilor. Skylar and Grace are stuck with painting. I've done community projects and it's about everyone learning. Usually the money comes with strings to that effect.

me every time will appears on the screen

Most of the cast in general pmo (the ranch goons, Alex, Cole, the counsellor chick, Richard, Elliot, etc.) but nobody evokes the level of rage that Will does. Why in the world is his plot line in any way necessary. Even in season 3, they're STILL trying to include his nonsense. For a show mainly geared toward high schoolers, why tf do we give a damn about the 25-ish year old older brother who has no importance. The plots of the other brothers beyond Alex and Cole are hella random too, but I guess they're not completely unentertaining so it's fine, and the parents' plot is of course relevant since this is also a family oriented show. But Will?? Please. All he does is whine about NOTHING. The audacity to not even have a cent for your own wedding and get mad when your parents whom have declining funds can't pay for it, the audacity to come up with all these wild plans to alter the Silver Falls ranches and get mad when his own dad shoots that bogus down, the audacity to think we care about his struggles with his fiancee who btw is ridiculously out of his league, and the audacity of the show to STILL make this man have an appearance in season 3. Absolutely not. Like literally every time I see will, my finger religiously smashes the skip button.

Alex's cruelty to Cole

I cannot get over how unforgivably cruel Alex was toward Cole when he told Cole that if he disappeared and ended up all alone on the streets, no one would care or miss him. That is so cruel to say to your own brother. He was also being a hypocrite since he just kissed another guy's girlfriend, which was the same thing he had gotten mad at Cole He also had no idea why Cole broke up with Jackie- at least Danny realized that Cole was acting off and knew breaking up with Jackie didn't seem like Cole at this point.

Back to Alex, maybe his words to Cole will come back to haunt him and he will be the one all alone. I hope George and Katherine find out what he, Richard, and Elliot all said to Cole and really chew them all out. Alex needs to be held accountable for that and he needs to apologize.

Are there any other diehard Kalex shippers or is it just me?

Hi all, I started watching the show this week and I was fully expecting myself to be swept away with the Cole/Jackie/Alex love triangle but I found myself falling fast and hard for Kiley & Alex.

From what I can see, they don’t seem to be very popular in this fandom which is actually quite disappointing because I honestly think they have some of the best chemistry on the show. I felt the tension so strongly during the S1 bed scene and the S3 fan fixing scene (those looks they give each other make me crazy 😵‍💫)

I completely understand why people like Dylan and Kiley but for me personally, they gave me zero buzz. I’ve always been a slowburn girlie, and from S1 Alex/Kiley just SCREAM friends to lovers slowburn deliciousness.

I do hope I’m not screaming into the void here (because everywhere I go it’s Team Dylan) and find some other like minded shippers! It’s shaping up to be a buzzy as hell S4 for these two, packed with denial, angsty fights, yearning looks (and a big damn kiss?)

I‘d love to know I’m not alone in this!

What does everyone else think of the rodeo guys?

I've just watched ep 3 and those cowboys are such losers. They look like they haven't showered in weeks. I'm glad Alex is standing up for himself. Am I missing something?

The need to pull a Fosters and stop the show from being the Jackie, Cole and Alex show

Yes every child has had lines and some even storylines but not enough, I mean how much screen time has Parker, Jordan and Benny had across all 3 seasons? Even Isaac doesn't get much screen time. I think they need to have storylines for each child maybe even an entire episode about one of them. On top of me just wanting to see more out of this show I also feel bad for the actors who don't get much screen time.

I don't know how many seasons the creators/producers want but if they decide to make this show about the family and not just about Jackie then I think they could get a few more seasons.

I said it when the first season came out that it reminded me of the Fosters and that if they leaned more into that they could be really successful just like the Fosters but it's season 3 and it's still just a romance show with a few side plots and storylines

Let's give some examples of successful shows that didn't focus on the main storyline the whole time. Virgin River a romance show with 7 seasons gives lots of screen time to other characters. TVD was still successful after Nina Dobrev left yeah there were complaints but it still did good. TWD was still successful after Andrew Lincoln left.

I never said I wanted Jackie, Cole or Alex gone or for the show to stop focusing on Jackie's life just that the show can evolve into something more since the Walters are apart of her new life and we've seen her take care of and help the Walter siblings so she could literally still be in those scenes with the other siblings if that's all you care about is seeing Jackie

Dylan and Kylie

I love these two together. I wish they had more scenes in the third season.

I feel like she was marked as Alex's endgame since the first season and they will be together.

But, would he be chasing after her like this if Jackie didn't dump him? He didn't want Kylie until he lost Jackie. And he still got drunk at the party and foolishly got a tattoo because he saw her happy with Cole.

To Dylan, Kylie is it. She's not a consolation prize. He adores her and treats her right. He is a supportive and sweet boyfriend. I hate that she cheated on him. I wish she would pick him!

Facial Expressions???

Where are the facial expressions? Cole's standing there deadpan while Elliot tells him he's not good enough for Jackie. In general there's just no sign that anyone's reacting to what's being said. Awful acting across the board.
