Orientation

Is orientation mandatory? I’m working full time right up until September 1st. I’m familiar with the campus and where my program is - but my program does have an hour and a half blocked off that day. Just wondering if I need to try and switch a shift.

NAIT is actively scamming ppl ATP

(This screenshot was taken 10 minutes ago)
I applied to the online Software Development course on July 5th and was immediately put on a waitlist after it was processed. Okay… I understand they need a reasonably large buffer incase a lot of people drop the class, but even as of TODAY they are still ACTIVELY accepting applications into the program that starts on Sep 1st. They are selling false hope. Nobody that applies now has an iota of a chance to get in. I probably don’t and it was over a month ago. They charge $115 for false hope.

They should absolutely close the applications for it, it’s ridiculous it’s not closed. They are just taking $115 from you even though there’s no reasonable chance of you getting in.

That’s all.

BBA in-person exams

Starting this fall semester, all final exams in the JSSR programs are in-person regardless of delivery method. I've been strictly online through my first year and was wondering if someone can give me some insight on how exams are typically administered in person? Is it still through brightspace and honorlock, but just taken in a physical classroom with others? Or is it instructor dependent?

I have pretty bad test anxiety, so taking exams from home has been a god-send. But the more information I have, the better I can prepare myself when exam time comes.

Tiution

I overpaid my tuition for the fall term of 2026. I was afraid that my grant wouldn’t go through before the tuition deadline, so I decided to pay the owing amount myself. The grant eventually went through, and I have an excessive amount that is now student credit. Does anyone know how I can get this refunded?

Enrollment error, What do I do now?

So basically I enrolled in 3 classes and the school confirmed my full time Status. Student loan is approved and funding is due soon, everything looks good.

However today I just received an email that apparently there was a site error? And I wasn't supposed to have been able to enroll in one of the classes. So they decided to just unenroll me. And switch me to a waitlist.

Which means now I assume I'll drop to part time. But with it being so close to start date is my student loan still going to go through?

And if not should I just cancel it and reapply?

Or should I just wait and see if I get in this class and remain in full time?

If you had a similar experience, can someone provide some advice? Thank you.

NAIT Architectural Technologies grads — how are you doing after graduation?

For those who graduated from NAIT AT:

  • How long did it take you to find your first job?
  • Are you working in architecture/architectural technology, or did you end up going into construction, estimating, BIM, project coordination, etc.?
  • What was your starting salary?
  • What are you making now, and how many years of experience do you have?
  • Did you find it difficult to get your first job?
  • Did having Revit/AutoCAD experience or a strong portfolio make a big difference?
  • Did you stay in Calgary or move somewhere else?
  • If you could go back to your time at SAIT, what would you do differently to make yourself more employable?

I’m especially interested in hearing from people who graduated within the last 5–10 years, since I’m trying to get a realistic idea of what the career path looks like after AT.

Any experiences—good or bad—would be really appreciated!

Health & Life Science Interview Advice

I'm planning to apply this fall and I'm just really anxious and scared about the interview and I would deeply appreciate any advice I'm given and I'm already aware about practicing mmi questions but I don't think I'm even preparing myself correctly like are the questions situational about the program?😭 Because I saw in the website that its almost 2 hours which makes me so anxious like how many questions are there to stay for 2 hours and how hard is it? I'm really open to any advice especially on how I should answer the questions 🙏😞

MLT & MLA Laptop

MLT and MLA students! What laptops are we getting/ using? I tried looking in all the information that was sent to us (i’m in MLT) and I couldn’t see anywhere about laptop recommendations. I have a Macbook Air that i’m comfortable with, but if I have to get a Windows laptop I suppose i’d have to.

Funding for ANPH 100 + ITMS 100 prerequisites?

Hi everyone! I’m hoping someone who has taken the NAIT Medical Laboratory Assistant program or completed the prerequisites can help me.
I need to take ANPH 100 (Anatomy & Physiology) and ITMS 100 (Medical Terminology) before I can apply for the Medical Laboratory Assistant program at NAIT. The two courses together are around $1,550, which I unfortunately can’t afford right now.
Since they’re Continuing Education/non-credit courses, I’m having trouble figuring out whether Alberta Student Aid, Foundational Learning Assistance, Alberta Works, NAIT funding, or any other grants/programs can cover them.
Has anyone successfully gotten funding to pay for these courses? If so, what funding did you use and how did you apply?
I’d really appreciate any advice, especially from anyone in Alberta/Edmonton who has been in the same situation. Thank you!

Still on waitlist

You pay $115 to have absolutely no clue where you are on the waitlist, so you just anxiously anticipate a call or an email everyday. Am I wasting my time or not? I just wish I could have a definitive answer. Shit blows dude

Period 1 Welding apprenticeship

I am wondering if I have to buy the supplies from the shop.nait.ca website or if I can buy my own supplies? I know I will probably buy the textbook from the shop but what about the face shield and gloves? Can I buy a welding helmet instead? and similar gloves? Or do I have to buy everything from NAIT themselves?

I know it’s probably a stupid question, I just want to make sure I am ready because it’s my first year!

Is a laptop really needed if i have a desktop?

i’m starting architectural technology soon and have been looking at gaming laptops to get for the courses, but a family member who went to nait recently claims that i won’t necessarily need a laptop that can run all the programs since i have a desktop at home that can do the same, plus classrooms have computers you can use, and says i should just be able to get by with a laptop for note taking

is this true? should i save myself some money by getting a cheaper laptop any help is really appreciated

Paid my tuition but now I get an email saying I have an outstanding charge..

Currently freaking out because the payment deadline is in 2 days and I thought I had this taken care of. I paid my tuition of $5555 on July 23rd, and got confirmation that it was received. Yesterday I got an email saying I have an outstanding charge. On my student portal it says I owe $6000, but when I go to PayMyTuition it shows my outstanding balance is $0 and therefore I have no option to send a payment. Obviously I'd prefer to reach out to Nait about this but their chat is closed and phone is at maximum queue, so now I have to wait 5 days for an email which is past the deadline.

I really don't want to lose my seat. Is this a glitch? Did this happen to anyone else?
