was applying now a mistake?

maybe overthinking this haha but i’m coming from another university and decided just recently to switch to NAIT pursuing a different diploma in IT Business Analytics, except now i’m reading your stories about people needing to take interviews and waiting for a long time. is it likely i won’t make it into the Fall 2026 intake since I applied so late? Thanks in advance!!

Shop at NAIT

I’m going to nait this fall and I was wondering if I’m allowed to go to the nait shop before school starts to get supplies. Do I need some kind of ID?

Program decision

Hi yall,

My NAIT portal says “Cancelled - Prog Area Decision” but I haven’t received a letter as to why my application was canceled. The program just began doing their acceptances. Anyone have any idea?

Oral piercings at Nait

I’m starting in dental assisting at nait in September. I’m currently reading they don’t like tongue or lip piercings. I have both. Does anyone know if I can just wear clear jewelry/ retainer so the holes don’t close? Thank you!

(I know I might need to take them out but I figured I’d ask here for some personal experiences)

DMS Program- Cancelled – Program Full

I would appreciate a bit of help here with trying to understand why my application was cancelled. This was full message I recevied:

Cancelled – Program Full
This intake has closed as classes for the term have started. Your application has been cancelled. For next steps, please carefully review your e-letter.

To clairfy the program does not start till September so im unsure what this status even means. Is it pertaining to my interview score? The strength of my application in terms of grades? I did reach out to sudent services, but I dont know if ill hear back, they closed my other inquiry with no response.

I am really bummed out and would appreciate any clairty anyone has?

Driver Licence required for [BAST]

Sorry for any inconvenience, everyone, for this being late. I’m currently looking into the Building Automation Systems Technology program and had a quick question regarding the requirements.

I noticed there are industry courses involved and wanted to know if a driver's license is strictly required to complete the program or any associated field placements. I understand that having a license is beneficial for future job opportunities in this industry, but I am specifically asking whether it is a formal prerequisite for graduation. Thanks in advance for your help!

Program Orientation Fall 2026

Hi!! Has anyone missed the SHLS program orientation before? Is it mandatory, and what are the consequences if I can’t make it? I’ll be in Vancouver during that time, so I’m wondering if anyone else has been in this situation.

Also, for past students, what are the best parking lots and locker rentals near the Dental Assisting classes? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

[General] Has anyone received their diploma yet? Has anyone been able to expedite it?

I received an email from NAIT on May 5 saying that physical diplomas (parchments) would be mailed within 10–12 weeks after completing all graduation requirements.

Has anyone already received their diploma, or is everyone still waiting?

I have an employer requesting a copy of my diploma for my employment and TN work authorization in the U.S., so I’m trying to figure out when I can expect mine to arrive.

Also, has anyone ever been able to expedite the mailing of their diploma due to employment or another urgent reason? If so, who did you contact, and were they able to help?

Thanks!

Medical Terminology Timed Assessment

Is the Timed Assessment for Medical Terminology just multiple choice questions?

Or is it like the practice questions where there are fill in the blanks, write definitions, match answers with numbers, etc?

(I know it says it on the page itself I just want to confirm)

Thanks!

MLT parking & locker

I’m looking at buying a parking permit early for the fall because I don’t live anywhere near any kind of public transit. Can any past MLT student tell me which buildings you most went to in your first year? I’m just trying to pick which lot is closest to where the bulk of your classes were? As well as let me know where the best area for a locker is you’d recommend. (Or if you think it’s even worth getting a locker at all). Thank you in advance!

Still Pending Program Decision

I did my interview for MLT in December, and my status is still pending program decision. Is anyone else still pending? Does this this mean I'm going to be rejected, or waitlisted, or do I still have a chance of getting a spot? I'm getting twitchy. Student services just keeps telling me to be patient.

CLXT Dates

Hi everyone,

Would just like some clarification about the dates for the CLXT program. I know clinicals start in January. So from my understanding it would be:

Year 1: September-April
Year 2: January-October

So there would be a 8 month gap before I start my second year?

Please let me know and thanks!

Medical Laboratory Technology - required laptop based question

My SO is going to be attended class for the Medical Laboratory Technology program starting in the fall. The NAIT program system gives a pretty basic breakdown of what is required of the laptop

>Operating System
Minimum Windows 10 (not Windows S version)
Processor
Any 64-bit processor
RAM
Minimum 8 GB of RAM
Network
Minimum 802.11ac (5 Ghz), High-speed Internet
Video
Webcam
Audio
Headset with microphone (or a microphone and speakers)
Free Software Provided
Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams

It also says that Macbooks are discouraged. I understand that there will be Virtual Lab Simulators and LIS (Laboratory Information System) being run. But looking them up, seems like pretty much all are either browser based or have updated to having Mac osx versions.

She is already planning to buy a macbook as her current 12+ year old model is finally having issues. She uses her mac for pretty much everything she does daily, and uses it for her video editing with final cut pro.

So i was curious for anyone that's actually taken the course, can a new macbook make it through? Or, would running Paralells Windows 11 be enough? She does not want a windows laptop, does not want to lug around 2 when on the go, and knows it will end up being discarded/forgotten after the program ends.

Thank you!

MLA Lab footwear recommendations

Im probably just overthinking the whole thing here but I’ve been having trouble trying to find shoes for lab that meet the requirements laid out in program package (see below 👇)

Any recommendations (with links) from previous MLA students would be greatly appreciated!!

Shoes worn in the

laboratory MUST cover the entire foot, have a non-slip sole, low-heel and be nonporous.

Leather or synthetic, fluid impermeable material is required.

Footwear made with canvas, suede, cloth, or mesh will absorb chemical or infectious fluids, therefore,

they are NOT allowed.

MLA Schedule

I will be starting the full-time MLA program in January. For those who have completed it, what was your schedule like? How many days should I expect to be at NAIT and what are the range of start/end times there? I've got 3 kids in school and activities so I'm trying to plan ahead. Thanks!
