It’s time to stop with the “Steph isn’t a PG”

The problem is people are assigning playing styles to position. Meaning point guards pass, shooting guard shoot/score, big man are in the post, etc. Just because somebody isn’t a Magic/Stockton/Zeke/JKidd/Nash pass first point guard, doesn’t mean they aren’t a point guard. Pass first is a playing style. You can have combo guards that play both positions like AI/Jerry West, but Steph has literally been labeled a “point guard” his entire career.

Saying he’s not a point guard simply because he isn’t a pass first point guard is ignorance. Play style has complete irrelevance to “labeled position”. That’s like saying Wemby isn’t a Center because he shoots a lot of 3s. So when people say Steph is a top 1-3 point guard, stop saying “he isn’t a point guard” because he isn’t a “pass first” point guard. He is a scoring point guard and it’s literally that simple. His play style does not dictate his position.

Kyrie Irving while watching his highlights “Yall will never see another player like me… I’m cut from a different cloth.”

Dennis Schroder on the Cavaliers trading him: "I've known for a month. I think the Hornets are a better situation for me because I can play the way I normally play. When you have two legends in your position who bring the ball up the court and play a lot of isolation, then it’s just difficult.”

Tracy McGrady says Westbrook’s 20-20-20 game is the greatest individual performance he’s ever witnessed: “Like, I know Kobe had 81. Bam had 83. I seen Luka hit 70. I seen Donovan Mitchell hit 70...But the 20-20-20, to me, probably the greatest individual performance I’ve seen out of a player.”

TYRESE & STEPH ALMOST HAPPENED! Tyrese Haliburton spoke about his 2020 pre-draft workout with the Golden State Warriors & said he thought they were going to draft him because he had the best workout of his life 👀

TYRESE & STEPH ALMOST HAPPENED! Tyrese Haliburton spoke about his 2020 pre-draft workout with the Golden State Warriors & said he thought they were going to draft him because he had the best workout of his life

“My Golden State workout, that was the best workout of my life. I swear I didn’t miss. Steve [Kerr] stepped into my workout and was like, ‘He needs to do conditioning shooting. We need to see it full court.’ And then I didn’t miss again. I was like, ‘They’re drafting me at 2.’ Then in the interview they were like, ‘We know you fit us perfect. We know you fit us perfect, but we don’t know if we could draft you at 2.’”

Haliburton thought playing next to Steph Curry would’ve been a perfect fit:

“Steph wants to play off ball. That allows me to have the rock, and then I could find him. I’m like, ‘Oh, this could be OD.’”

Golden State then drafted James Wiseman No. 2 overall, while Haliburton went No. 12 to Sacramento. Wiseman has been out of the NBA for two years, while Haliburton is a budding superstar.

Thoughts?
