CRCA Rankings - Horrible

This last ranking is horrible! How in the world is Michigan ahead of Duke, Alabama, and Columbia?

There must be someone on the committee and politics are being played. They should never have been ranked that high all season. They have won nothing all season

Let's look at some data:

1st race: Michigan V8 loses to Oklahoma and Alabama. Their 2V8 loses to Alabama.

2nd race: Michigan V8 loses to Texas. Michigan 2V8 loses to Texas . Michigan V4 loses to Texas .

3rd race: Michigan V8 loses to UCLA and Rutgers and others. 2V8 loses to Rutgers and others. V4 loses to Rutgers and others.

4th race: Michigan V8 loses every race to Princeton and Syracuse.

5th race: Michigan V8 loses to UCLA again! And then on Day 2...they lose to UCLA a third time! Can't blame early season training anymore. And Ohio State. And Rutgers and Washington and Indiana ALMOST beat them at only a second behind.

Someone explain these rankings and this committee's decision. This really seals to me that the committee plays favorites and is not looking at data.

Hot Take: NIL and Transfer Portal has wrecked march madness

when i first started following cbb in 2022-23, there was so many upsets in the tourney. Princeton made the sweet 16. #9 fau made the final four. # sdsu made the championship. #5 miami made the final four. FDU beat Purdue. Kennesaw almost beat Xavier. Now that transfer portal and NIL stuff means that stuff will never happen again. Cinderella win!=cinderella run

Help choosing between NCAA swimming scholarship offers

Hi all,

I’m a parent from the UK trying to help my daughter make a decision about swimming and studying in the US this year, and I’d really appreciate some honest outside opinions from people who understand NCAA swimming and college life.

She is a high-level competitive swimmer in the UK (on a national performance pathway level) and is currently being recruited by several US universities. She also wants to study Economics.

At the moment, we are considering the following full scholarship offers / strong interest:

·         University of Minnesota

·         Florida Southern College

·         University of the Incarnate Word (UIW)

·         University of Indianapolis

Her priorities are:

·         Competing at the highest possible swimming level and improving towards international standard

·         Studying Economics

·         Good team culture and coaching environment

·         A positive lifestyle adjustment from the UK (weather, campus life, etc.)

·         A university where she will develop rather than just “survive” as an athlete

We are trying to understand:

·         Relative strength of these swim programmes (D1 vs D2 but also actual performance levels)

·         Quality of coaching environments

·         Campus life / safety / culture for international students

·         Weather and general lifestyle differences (north vs south US)

·         Long-term development potential vs immediate competition level

We are slightly torn between:

  • A more elite D1 environment (Minnesota / UIW) vs
  • A potentially better development and lifestyle fit (Florida Southern / others)

We are also trying to balance a few concerns and preferences:

·         Minnesota is extremely strong from a swimming perspective, but we are slightly concerned about the very cold climate and whether that would affect long-term happiness and adjustment from the UK

·         We like the idea of a southern US lifestyle and warmer weather, but we are unsure whether some of the D2 programmes may be strong enough from a performance and development standpoint for her level

·         Ultimately we are trying to find the right balance between elite competition, development, and overall wellbeing

Any honest experiences or insights from swimmers, parents, or students would be massively appreciated — especially anything you wish you had known before committing.

Thanks in advance.

You CAN cut the cord without losing your mind. Here's how I finally did it after 3 years of trying.

I need to tell you something.

For three years, I tried to cut the cord. And for three years, I failed.

Every time I thought I'd found the answer, something went wrong. Buffering during the big game. Channels that worked on Tuesday but vanished by Thursday. Providers that seemed legit until I paid, then disappeared like a ghost.

I went back to cable twice. Twice. Each time telling myself, "At least it works."

But here's the thing about cable – it "works" while quietly robbing you blind. $118 a month. Hidden fees. Blackouts. Channels you never watch. A DVR that feels like it's from 2010.

I felt stuck. Trapped. Like cord-cutting was something other people could do, but not me.

Then, about eight months ago, I tried one more service. Not because I was hopeful – because I was desperate.

That service was IPTVGreat .

And for the first time in three years, something finally worked.

The Moment Everything Changed

I remember the exact moment I knew it was different.

It was a Sunday night. NFL game. My team was playing. I'd had a long week, and all I wanted was to watch football without fighting with technology.

I opened the app on my Firestick. Clicked on the game. Held my breath.

The stream started instantly. Crystal clear. No spinning wheel. No "buffering" message. Just… football.

I watched the entire game. Four quarters. Commercials. Halftime show. Not a single freeze.

I actually laughed out loud. Not because it was funny, but because I couldn't believe it. After three years of frustration, something finally worked the way it was supposed to.

What I Learned Along the Way

Looking back, here's what I wish someone had told me when I started this journey.

Not all IPTV services are the same.

I know that sounds obvious, but hear me out. Some providers invest in good servers. Others rent the cheapest possible setup and hope you don't notice. The difference is night and day.

Start small.

Don't buy a year upfront. Any provider that pushes a long-term commitment before you've tested them is probably hiding something. IPTVGreat has a 1-month plan for $15. That's what I started with. Low risk. Easy to walk away if it didn't work.

Use the right apps.

TiviMate on Firestick changed everything for me. It's $10 a year for the premium version. Worth every penny. The free version works too, but premium gives you more features.

Be patient with setup.

It took me about 10 minutes to get everything working. That's nothing compared to the hours I wasted on bad services before. Follow the instructions. Take a breath. You'll get there.

What Actually Works

Let me tell you what I've been using for the past eight months.

The channels I actually watch:

  • NFL games every Sunday (no blackouts – still shocked by this)
  • UFC PPVs (included, no extra $80 fee)
  • Premier League on Saturday mornings
  • CNN and Fox News for background noise
  • HBO for Sunday night shows
  • Local channels when I need them

The quality:

I watch in 4K when it's available. Mostly 1080p. Both look great on my TV. No pixelation. No weird artifacts during fast motion.

The VOD library:

Over 100,000 movies and shows. I canceled Netflix and Hulu. Haven't missed them.

The reliability:

Eight months. A few minor hiccups here and there. Nothing that made me miss a game or a show. That's better than cable ever was for me.

The Honest Truth About Downsides

I'm not going to pretend it's perfect.

The channel list is huge. Like, overwhelming. You'll want to spend 15 minutes setting up favorites. Otherwise you'll scroll forever.

The TV guide isn't flawless. Maybe 95% accurate. Major channels are fine. Some niche ones show "no information" occasionally.

You need decent internet. 30-50 Mbps for 4K. I have 100 Mbps and it's smooth. If your connection is slower, stick to HD.

There's a learning curve. It's not as simple as turning on a cable box. But if you can install an app on your phone, you can figure this out.

None of these are dealbreakers for me. But you deserve to know the truth.

What I've Saved

Let me do the math for you.

Before:

  • Cable: $118/month
  • Netflix: $16/month
  • Hulu: $18/month
  • Total: $152/month | $1,824/year

Now:

  • IPTVGreat annual plan: $89.99/year (about $7.50/month)
  • Total: $7.50/month | $90/year

I'm saving over $1,700 every year.

That's not nothing. That's a vacation. A new TV. A year of groceries for a family of four. Real money.

If You're Stuck Like I Was

Here's my advice to anyone who's been trying to cut the cord and keeps running into walls.

Don't give up.

I almost did. Twice. I'm glad I didn't.

Start with a 1-month plan.

$15 is a small price to find out if something works. If it doesn't, you move on. No harm done.

Test it during a live event.

Watch a full game. Not five minutes. The whole thing. That's the real test.

Be patient with yourself.

You're learning something new. It's okay if it takes a few tries to get everything set up the way you want.

Ask for help.

The IPTV community on Reddit is full of people who've been where you are. Most are happy to help.

Final Thoughts

I spent three years feeling stuck. Trapped by cable. Frustrated by bad IPTV services. Convinced that cutting the cord just wasn't for me.

Turns out, I just hadn't found the right service yet.

IPTVGreat isn't perfect. Nothing is. But it's been reliable, affordable, and easy to use for eight months now. That's longer than any other IPTV service has lasted for me.

If you're tired of cable bills. If you're frustrated with sketchy providers. If you've almost given up like I did.

Take a breath. Try one more time.

You might be surprised.

We are trying to spread a story and don’t know how to get in contact with the larger organizations. Does anyone have any tips with how to get in contact with these larger groups? I attached the story to this.

I wanted to pass along a story that is drastically affecting our community, collegiate student athletes and the integrity of Olympic sports. California Baptist University decided to cut the programs on January 2nd based upon the statement "positioning Lancer Athletics more competitively for the future" and "factors including community impact, Title IX, house settlement and available resources." Additionally they just cut a Women’s sport but aren’t making a public statement as they are afraid of the backlash.

The student athletes at California Baptist University have been under direct scrutiny and had repeated reports of having their voices silenced. They have reported that there have been active faculty/staff who have threatened them with eliminating their season and taking away opportunities that these athletes have worked hard to achieve. In one of the links posted below CBU administration reportedly belittles the wrestlers in regards to their peaceful protest.

Our coliliton has raised over 1.2 million in the past 2 months and has spread awareness to thousands of people nationwide. Through-out countless requests for a meeting or connecting CBU administration has repeatedly ignored them. Our fight is simple, as Dr. Ellis (president of CBU) continuingly states, "Everyone has a seat at the table" and we are just wanting that. We are hoping for an opportunity to sit with the administration and show how this decision is monumentally a bad decision from a sport and university standpoint. Our goal is to spread continued awareness of our fight and encourage people to stand saying that this decision is wrong. We need to protect Olympic sports as they are directly under attacl. We have also filed a petition to reform Title IX as the last time it was addressed was when it was released in 1979. Lastly a Lawsuit has been filed against the school for sex-discrimination.

Feel free to check out our instagrams on other ways to share support and help fight for our cause or I would be happy to chat with you
