Anyone in MSc Data Science and Industrial Biotech?

Hi, I’ll be moving to Newcastle next month for my masters degree in Data Science and Industrial Biotech at Newcastle University. I would love to connect with someone who is starting this masters too. Feel free to contact me.

Need to accept clearing offer but have no reference

Hi everyone, I’m hoping anyone might be able to give me some advice. I received a verbal offer from Newcastle University on Results Day and only have 5 days from receiving the offer to accept it. The problem is that I’m currently waiting for my old school to complete my UCAS reference, and I can’t accept the offer until this has been done.

I also can’t send it without a reference because i’d need permission from Newcastle to do so and i can’t make a new application because my application is now linked to the school.

I’ve already contacted my school about the reference asking them to do it asap, but I’m worried because the deadline is literally tomorrow. I’m also unable to call either my school or Newcastle at the moment because both their phone lines have been closed all weekend. I’ve been trying to complete an enquiry form on the Newcastle website but it hasn’t loaded for 3 days now so i’m losing hope.

Has anyone been in a similar situation or know what I should do? Is there anything I can do to make sure I don’t lose the offer while I’m waiting for my reference?

Any advice would be really appreciated!

Freshers ?

I’m coming to Newcastle Uni in September to do film practices and I’m in a few gcs where they keep pushing these freshers wristbands and club eveny tickets usually on fatsoma. I haven’t bought any because I’ve seen people online say not to get them as they are a waste but I worry that everyone else is actually getting them because that’s what it seems like on the gcs. Is it worth it to get ticketed for the events or just wait and see what my flatmates are doing when I get there ?
Thanks in advance

Clothes and weather

hey guys! i'm going to newcastle for a year as a study abroad student, but i'm from brazil so the weather is very different lol. i was wondering if anyone could tell me how the weather is actually like. i'm also currently deciding what clothes im bringing and what i'll leave at home so knowing what people usually wear to class or to go out would also be really helpful.
