3-year degree grad here looking at NID M.Des. I'll have to take a full student loan to fund the 14L fees. For anyone who graduated recently, how painful is the loan repayment on a design salary? Is the starting salary package real or am I gonna be trapped in debt forever? Help a fresher out lol.

I have a bachelors in Product Design(2022 graduate). I have been working since then as a visual designer. But with a few wrong choices in life, I’m not happy with my current role atm. I want a hard reset in my career by doing a design masters in a Govt college here in India itself.

But I have heard from many people with proof that they prefer people who don’t have much design experience so that they give a chance to people who don’t come from design background or are fresh design graduates. So is it a good idea for me to try rn anyways?

I don’t want to go abroad as I don’t want to end up jobless after my degree and then come back to India simply. Can anyone tell me if they know people with a design degree and design experience who were able to crack a govt seat? I don’t want to simply try and find out the hard way..

I am a JEE aspirant and currently preparing PCM, but honestly I am not enjoying engineering that much. I feel like I am mainly doing it because of the IIT tag and pressure.

According to my current prep, I might get a lower branch at a top IIT, but I don't know if spending 4 years in a field I don't like makes sense.

I recently found out about UCEED and IIT B.Des, and design actually seems interesting. I am not a hardcore artist or someone who has been drawing forever, but I like problem-solving, creativity, products, and the idea of mixing technology + design.

My goals are mainly:

• Product Management
• Startups/entrepreneurship
• Strategy/consulting
• Maybe MBA later

People say "don't take B.Des just for IIT tag", which I understand, but I want honest opinions.

Is IIT B.Des actually a good path for someone interested in PM/business roles rather than pure design?

Also:

• How hard is it to shift from B.Des to PM/MBA/consulting?
• Are B.Des students treated equally on IIT campuses?
• Can someone without a design background crack UCEED with proper preparation?

I came across someone saying they are choosing NID Ahmedabad solely for the brand name and do not intend to pursue design as a career.

Personally, I do not believe anyone should choose a college just for its reputation. NID is a design institution, and many passionate aspirants dream of studying there to build a career in design.

Of course, it is their choice, but it does feel unfair to those who genuinely value and aspire to that opportunity.

Choosing a college just because of the 'tag' is the worst thing to exist.

[ ALSOO, the person who's doing this told me PRIVATE COLLEGES hold no value, their degrees are useless and hold no value. What about others who cracked NID but had to join a private clg just because the cutoff was 2 3 ranks ahead of theirs?? Unbelievable right? ]
