Beware KQI

I purchased a NIU KQI Air electric scooter and have had nothing but problems since day one. Within less than a month the control panel displayed an Error 7 while I was riding, leaving me stranded on my way to work. The power button works intermittently and the ride modes do not function at all.

I contacted NIU support and formally requested a return under their own published return policy, which covers defective products. They declined, sent the scooter back to me after repairs without my consent, and then stopped responding to my emails entirely. I have since initiated a chargeback with my credit card company and am returning the scooter to sender.

The product is poorly made and the customer service is worse. If you are considering a NIU scooter, I would strongly encourage you to look elsewhere.

No GPS Signal since 59 days

Hello, I bought a used NQiX 500 a few weeks ago. Since the purchase, the app has been stuck showing the old location without any updates. I already tried restarting the ECU via the app, and I contacted the dealership where the scooter had its last two inspections (it currently has 4,800 km on it).

The workshop told me that the previous owner had the ECU replaced. They sent an email to NIU support about the issue, but haven't received a response yet!

(On a side note: NIU's support is a joke anyway. When I had my old NGT, I subscribed to the app, canceled it 2 days later, and they never refunded my money. They just opened a case and closed it weeks later without any reply...!)

The scooter is practically brand new (from July 2025). Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this GPS issue? It's super frustrating that the anti-theft feature doesn't work at all.

Unpair.... Someone's gotta know something...

I have searched this sub thoroughly.

I bought KQi3 Pro 3rd hand (yes, third) Runs great, 32km/h, gets me to and from work, that's all I need.

Is there a factory reset or force unpair? I just want to be able to lock it, go in a store, buy smokes/drinks/snacks/whatever...

Before you ask: no, I do not have proof of purchase. I do not know or have contact with its original owner, neither does the guy I bought it from. No, it's not stolen. Yes, I have tried contacting support, but they don't answer. Yes, I have tried contacting the local shop, but they don't answer phone calls, emails, or even open for more than 5 hours a day, while I'm at work. They're also on the complete opposite end of my city.

Somebody has to have some sort of answer, somewhere.... please

Is it normal for my NIU KQI 2 Pro scooter to not have any brakes after I plug it in

After I plug in my scooter and charge it and take it out, I go around 17mph and press the brakes and it doesn’t brake. This is really unsafe. The brakes do eventually kick back in but it’s after like 2 times of me braking like that. My brakes should be all tightened and good

NIU KQi 300X charger LED not lighting up, even when disconnected from scooter.

This scooter was bought only a few weeks after release date. Noticed today when I plugged it in the app was showing it as not charging, and going down over time. So I bound and then unbound it. Checked for firmware update, and so on. Nothing.

Diff outlets, checked the connections for obstructions. The scooter has 400 km on it and well taken care of. Kept inside my apartment and never ridden in rain or any extreme heat or cold. I thought maybe the charger LED was dead and the charger may have been fine.

So obviously the next step was plugging it in without being plugged into the scooter. No LED, no red, no green. Nothing. So I am assuming the charger itself is dead. I'll do a volt check later when I dig my meter out. Just hoping it isn't the charger since they are pricey and it's in mint condition.

Any ideas I can try in the meantime? Oddly the scooter shows 4 full bars in the app, and still at 81 percent down from 83 since I first plugged it in. So I can get a decent ride out of it still while I wait for a new charger.

Or can these be reset somehow? LIke by leaving them plugged in for a certain amount of time if they have been idle for a while? We had a long cold winter and I only charged my scooter twice. Didn't drive it tho, not in winter(Atlantic Canada).

Weird noise from the motor (MQI GT)

Anyone knows where that sound comes from ? All the bolts are tight and nothing is loose. When i start the scooter i have huge rattling all over the scooter….. loss of power at the start like sth is blocking it. If I stay at the gas until full throttle and force to move the scooter after some kilometres and the initial rolling noise goes away.

Stem wire

I have an KQi3 that I rode twice and stopped working.

I already checked the cable connection inside the handle and power button, and tried charging over 2hrs.

The customer service suggested to check the power cable inside the stem.

They are keep saying to open the quick-release, but my model doesn't have that.

Does anyone know how to open it?

Is my battery already compromised?

Hello everyone. I purchased a KQi3 Max scooter from a college student graduating from a local college yesterday. He put it into service (according to the NIU app) in January of last year. When I bought it, the battery health page reflected only 44 charging cycles, and the “remaining health” was at 13 Ah, which should reflect virtually 100% battery health - right?

However, after fully charging the scooter and taking it for a roughly 1 mile neighborhood ride, the battery last 10% of its charge. Even with a real-world range of 20-25 miles for the KQi3 Max, that doesn’t seem right. Is there any other diagnostic check that I can do to tell me if the battery is compromised? With only 44 charge cycles and the “remaining health” at 13 Ah, this battery should have lots of life left…right? To be clear, the scooter seems to accelerate and ride well - it just seems that the battery draw was too much for a short ride around the block.

Also - since the scooter has been in service for less than two years, do I have any kind of warranty coverage?

Any suggestions of what other things I could check to explain this rapid battery draw would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
