Hey everyone, so this was my second attempt at CAT and honestly I just can't see myself going for a third. I missed SIBM Pune and JBIMS by a pretty small margin which genuinely stings because I felt I was so close, but here I am now with an offer from NMIMS Mumbai for their MBA in Business Analytics and I'm trying to figure out if this is something I should seriously consider or let go.

I have 39 months of work experience as an technical Analyst so I'm not coming in as a fresher and I do wonder if that changes anything, both in terms of what I'd get out of the program and how recruiters would look at me during placements. Would the work experience actually give me an edge on campus or does it not really matter much at NMIMS BA specifically.

What I really want to understand from people who've been through it is how the placements actually look for the BA program, not the brochure numbers but the real picture. What kind of roles come in, which companies visit, and what does an average outcome look like for someone from an analytics background. Also curious about how the academics are structured, whether it's genuinely rigorous or more of a management program with some analytics courses thrown in.

I know NMIMS is a good name overall but I want to make sure I'm not just taking it because I'm tired of the process. Would love honest opinions from current students, alumni or anyone who knows the program well. Is this a decent place to build from or would I be settling? Really appreciate any genuine input, DMs welcome too 🙏

So I've heard from seniors that placement process for business analytics is different from core MBA.

I was hoping they would be same, we would have gotten same opportunities as them.

What other things should one know before entering college?

should I start off-campus placement preparation from Day 1 itself?

How strict are they with attendance? (Proxy or legit reason needed?)

Are there live projects, do they pay well?

Do they even teach core MBA topics like marketing and operations, in depth or is it just coding?

Any chance to get new company for placements?

Can same company for core, be bought for us?

Any chance of combined placements?

Can I have a part time job/internship with the course?

I have offers from both the clgs and this is my last attempt so I will take admission this year itself. Which college would be better ? If anyone of you are studying in any of these clgs please let me know about the actual placement scenario, real avg package and job roles offered.

I’m currently entering my 3rd year of bachelor’s and planning for finance/MBA in the future, but honestly I feel like a below-average candidate academically.

My background:

Around 59% in 10th and 67% in 12th

Current graduation CGPA is around 8.9

Arts background in 12th

Weak in maths, reasoning and aptitude

Preparing for CFA Level 1, but not very confident about clearing it

I’m interested in colleges like NMIMS, Symbiosis and other Tier-2 B-schools for finance/management, but exams like CAT, NMAT and SNAP genuinely worry me because quants is my weakest area.

So realistically:

Can someone who is not very smart academically still crack NMIMS/Symbiosis?

Is it possible even with weak quants and reasoning?

If I perform only average in NMAT/SNAP, do I still have a chance anywhere decent?

Should I first focus on getting work experience before MBA?

How much do 10th/12th marks actually affect admission in Tier-2 colleges?

Need honest advice from people who were in a similar situation or know the reality of MBA admissions.
