EHV Transfer letter recevied 3 months ago. No actual offer yet. No TBRA offer. Early Recert requested. WTAF?
Am I in the majority as a (soon to lack funding) EHV holder who received a letter saying a developemnt was selected many months ago and then nothing else? I have a NYLAG assistant helping and he says many clients are in the same spot. This is absoultely killing my drive to work on and invest myself in my current area (which I love and am very invested in) with a small disabled child and no sense of what's going on. I can't commit to longer term jobs if I'm about to live an hour away. We need clarity.
I need know our options
Long story short- once the pandemic happened, our household own about 47k back up rent but we did get rent assistance which took off about 20k off the debt but even after the debt slowly increased more and more because my mom was the only paying rent and couldn’t really keep up. Also didn’t help the rent increase after the pandemic.
Now we have been letters about how much we owe and that we have to paid it back unless we want to get evicted. My mom and second older sister had already went to office to talk about the rent and debt and resigning the lease.
We weren’t able to lower the rent but they did say if we started paying rent and some of the debt that we don’t have to worried about it. This wasn’t written contract but verbal communication to us.
Even tho just last month we paid the rent and some of debt ($600) we are still getting the letters which is stressing me out so much because they still can kick us out if they want to.
I was talking to my sister and telling her she should go to the office and ask for written contract (repayment agreement) which she told me there is no need because they said we started paying rent and some of the debt that we don’t have to worried about it.
I don’t know what to do? Maybe try to get rent assistance. my mom would have to do it bcz she is household head but she just procrastinate calling
Got a offer after choose whole Borough
Hi everyone! I just wanted to share my experience and ask for some advice.
I recently emailed NYCHA and asked to change my waitlist preference from a specific development to the entire borough. Surprisingly, it only took about a week before I received an offer for Woodside Houses, and I’ve now accepted the apartment.
I wanted to ask anyone who lives there or is familiar with the development: How is Woodside Houses overall, especially in terms of safety, noise, and the environment inside the buildings?
I visited the apartment twice. The area outside seemed pretty safe and clean, and I actually like the apartment itself. My only concern is the common areas inside the building. There was a noticeable urine smell near the entrance/hallway, and on my second visit I saw someone hanging out in the stairwell, which made me a little uncomfortable.
I’d really appreciate hearing from current or former residents. Is it generally quiet? Do you feel safe coming home at night? Are people hanging out in the stairwells or hallways a common issue?
Emergency section 8 transfer voucher
I have a history of domestic violence with my child’s father. He recently found out where I live and he’s been threatening to come to my house. I did call the police and I have a police report. Would that be enough to request an emergency transfer? I don’t feel safe with him, knowing where I live. I applied for the transfer. I’m not sure if they’re gonna approve it and if they do approve it I just wanna know how long does it usually take to get the new voucher?
