Traktor "standalone" update.

Back from boomtown where this lil thing performed really well. Unexpected update.... I've managed to build what I call "performance view" for traktor so it's starting to really feel like a standalone. If anyone wants a link to the installer lemme know. It's totally vibe coded and your milage may vary but it seems to work really well so far!

EDIT:
Here's the link to the installer. It's gonna ask for terminal access, and you have to authenticate to install. This was done on a Mac, so im assuming mac only. It should then find all the versions of Traktor on your computer. PLEASE DO NOT INSTALL THIS IN YOUR CURRENT WORKING VERSION OF TRAKTOR. This is untested outside of my computer, so I don't wanna wreck anyone's setup. Read the README file. Again, im not a coder. This was entirely put together with ChatGPT. It works really well for me, but your mileage may vary. Hopefully someone finds it useful!

Anyone else get filled with dread every time they have to use an NI product?

I have so many pieces of ni hardware but every single time I turn one on it will inevitably be the entire evening of doing my own tech support to get it working as intended. Anyone else share this issue? It’s so bad for me personally that I just don’t turn any of of my NI equipment on anymore

What are your favorite Kontakt instruments/libraries because of their UI?

Hi friends :) I'm a composer whose been bit by the coding bug and all I want to do is make a cute or funny looking instrument that actually has real value. I'm thinking of a frog slider to move a HP filter or sparkles to turn on reverb. Just adding whimsy to whatever I make for me and my friends. I'm very new to building instruments though and wanted to see what features you all appreciate in an instrument/library or if you have any favorite looking plugins!

I built a free open-source VST3 that gives timing and pattern feedback while you practice finger drumming

Hey everyone,

I built Groove Tutor because I wanted a practice tool that could compare my finger drumming

against a MIDI groove while I still played through my normal drum instrument.

It is a silent VST3 for Ableton Live on Windows. You import a target MIDI pattern, play along,

and it shows whether you are rushing or dragging as well as missed, extra, and wrong drum hits.

It does not make sound or route MIDI; your drum instrument stays on a separate track.

The first public beta is free and fully open source. It is currently tested on Windows 11,

Ableton Live 12 Intro, and a Maschine Mikro MK3. Other Windows setups may work, but I have not

tested them yet.

I am mainly trying to find out whether other people have wanted something like this too. If you

try it, I would genuinely appreciate feedback about what is useful, confusing, or missing.

GitHub/download: https://github.com/jonasschaare123-bit/groove-tutor/releases/tag/v0.1.0-beta.1

The Windows build is unsigned, so the repository includes installation instructions and a

SHA-256 checksum. There is no telemetry or account system.

Calibration Traktor Scratch Failed

I’ve been using this setup for a long while and now all of a sudden I can’t calibrate anything. I’ve tried multiple records and needle but nothing works, the sound is distorted. Before this problem occurred I often noticed the fact that the music stopped for a few seconds. I don’t know what is the reason of this problem, I think it might be a traktor scratch problem, because the program works, I would need some help to figure out a way to fix it.

Bought used gear I didn’t understand, need help

I’m a noob, made noob mistakes. I picked up a used Maschine Mikro MKII on Reverb. Only realized after the fact that it needs the accompanying software. I reached out to the seller, but they didn’t have a license to transfer me, so I guess I’m kind of screwed now.

I found an installer for the software (Maschine 2), but it still asks me for a license. Trouble with that is, there’s nowhere to even buy a license for this old software.

I filed a support ticket with NI, but that’s going to take a few days apparently. I was curious if anybody here knows a way I could solve this problem. Thanks.

Is it ok to show off a little 11 years after buying my first NI piece. Wish my job left me more time to produce though..Also looking for a good tutorial on synthwave.

Guitar Rig 3?

I've found some old DAW projects that are set up with Guitar Rig 3.

I own Guitar Rig 7.

Is there any way I can get ahold of Guitar Rig 3 from my account with Native Instruments so these tracks don't sound like banjos?

Is $998 a fair price for a Vapor Gray S49 MK2 limited edition?

I’ve been keeping an eye out for an S49 MK2 and came across this limited-edition Vapor Gray version on Reverb (#204 out of 500).

The seller says the keyboard itself is near-mint and includes the License Transfer ID, though the box has some wear.

Given how rare the Vapor Gray edition is, do you think $998 is a reasonable price for it, or is that a bit steep? Here is the listing I’m looking at: https://reverb.com/item/100421825-native-instruments-komplete-kontrol-s49-mk2-25th-edition-vapor-gray?utm\_source=rev-ios-app&utm\_medium=ios-share&utm\_campaign=listing&utm\_content=100421825

Thanks for any insights!

Standalone Generative-Techno ZynthianMaschine MKII — an eight-channel generative groovebox

One command. No soldering, no config files, no DAW. The same box takes touchscreens, multitrack USB interfaces and more MIDI gear. The ceiling is the platform's ceiling.

An eight-channel generative groovebox on Zynthian, played entirely from a Native Instruments Maschine MK2 - pads, encoders, both displays, LEDs. Five euclidean drum channels and three Turing-machine voices, all eight always alive; nothing is created or torn down while playing.

The generator owns the pattern.

You do not draw a beat. You set hits, rotation, chance and swing, and the driver writes real notes into Zynthian's own sequencer. Because they are real notes in the real sequencer, patterns persist in snapshots and the touchscreen pattern editor mirrors exactly what the pads show.
The five drum channels are euclidean: hits spread as evenly as the grid allows, then rotate. Four hits in sixteen is four-on-the-floor; five is the clave.
The three voices are Turing machines. Each owns a shift register, clocked once per pass and mutated with probability RANDOM, and the register's value becomes pitch. Set RANDOM to zero and the loop you are hearing freezes bit for bit, for as long as you leave it there - the display reads LOCKrather than a number, because a number could be a coincidence.

It is built on Zynthian, a maintained open-source synth platform with an active community and official hardware kits if a boxed version is ever wanted. Every line is readable, every part swappable, all of it yours to fork.

Alpha Release:
I am currently actively working on it, expect changes. Also not all features are documented yet, there are more Features in the pipeline like Maschine Display supported Synth Engine & Effect loading. Midi Output via DIN Jack etc.

Feels free, to raise issues or Feature requests.

My Kontakt 8 has reverted to Kontakt 8 Player, anyone else?

For some reason I have had the full version of Kontakt 8 for some time now, but as of today it has reverted to Kontakt 8 Player. I found odd, even though my last upgrade to NI has been Komplete 14 CE, which is Kontakt 7 to be fair.

I didn't think it strange when Native Access suddenly allowed me to download K8, but just wondered if anyone else had experienced this.

Komplete Standard 15

Not sure if this is allowed, but I'm looking to sell/transfer my Komplete Standard 15 license. Allows you to upgrade to 26 relatively cheaply

Electric storm help!

Hey yall! I purchased electric storm on a bit of a whim and I’m kind of regretting it. I’ve seen people use it to write guitar bits and they sounded good, but everything I try sounds so cheesy and awful. I’ve tried switching it to melody and then playing a chord like EM11 for example and it ends up sounding exactly like a midi guitar and not natural at all. Any suggestions for some help? I really wish they offered refunds bc honestly I’ve kind of given up and it’s not a cheap plug in….

Help and advice appreciated!

OpenKoreBridge – Bringing the Native Instruments KORE 2 back to life [Open Source]

Hi everyone,

I’m happy to announce the first public Beta release of OpenKoreBridge R7 v0.9.0.

OpenKoreBridge brings the Native Instruments KORE 2 controller back to life on modern systems.

KORE 2 is still a very nice piece of hardware: 8 touch-sensitive encoders with LED rings, pads, transport controls, navigation buttons and its original LCD display. Unfortunately, its usefulness on modern computers became increasingly limited after official support ended.

OpenKoreBridge takes a different approach: a Raspberry Pi acts as a dedicated hardware/MIDI bridge between the KORE 2 and a modern computer.

The current Beta has been developed and fully tested with a Raspberry Pi 3 and macOS Apple Silicon, using RTP-MIDI.

Current features include:

• Original KORE 2 LCD fully operational
• 8 encoders and LED rings
• Pads and buttons
• Navigation controls
• Play / Stop / Record transport controls
• LED feedback
• Complete MIDI CC mapping
• RTP-MIDI communication
• Automatic connection and reconnection
• LCD connection status: “Waiting for Host…” / “OpenKoreBridge Connected”
• Automatic startup on the Raspberry Pi

Once installed, the Raspberry Pi essentially becomes a small dedicated appliance: connect the KORE 2, boot the Pi and use the controller with MIDI-capable software.

Genome 2

One example is Genome 2 on iPad. OpenKoreBridge turns the KORE 2 into a very capable physical controller for it. Encoders can control parameters, pads can trigger functions or notes, buttons can be assigned to commands and the transport section can control playback and recording.

Since OpenKoreBridge exposes the controller through MIDI, it isn’t limited to Genome 2. The goal is to make the KORE 2 usable with modern MIDI software rather than tying it to one particular application.

An interesting second-hand controller

There is another reason I think this project may be interesting even for people who don’t currently own a KORE 2.

Used KORE 2 controllers can sometimes be found surprisingly cheaply.

Because official support is obsolete, many units have little value to their owners despite the hardware itself still being excellent. OpenKoreBridge potentially turns those inexpensive second-hand controllers into useful modern MIDI control surfaces again.

So if you see a KORE 2 sitting unused in a cupboard — or find one cheaply on the second-hand market — it may have a second life. 🙂

Raspberry Pi support

The current R7 Beta has been tested and validated on Raspberry Pi 3.

Raspberry Pi 4 and Pi 5 are expected to be suitable as well, but the Pi 3 is currently the reference platform for this first public release.

Installation is automated. On the reference Raspberry Pi 3, a fresh installation takes approximately 18 minutes, most of which is compilation time.

Open source

OpenKoreBridge is an open-source community project.

This is the first public Beta, so feedback, testing on different configurations, bug reports and contributions are very welcome.

OpenKoreBridge R7 v0.9.0 Beta:
GitHub: github.com/OpenKoreBridge/OpenKoreBridge

The Beta installation package can be downloaded directly from the Releases section.

I’d especially be interested to hear from anyone who still owns a KORE 2. If you test OpenKoreBridge, please let me know which Raspberry Pi, computer/OS and MIDI software you use and how it behaves.

OpenKoreBridge — Revived. Connected. Open.
