The Loved One Review:

Based sa mga nakikita ko na post, review and comments parang nag expect ako ng ibang outcome. Akala ko kasi walang matinding issue sa kanilang dalawa kaya hindi sila nag work dalawa pero nung napanood namin eto nung someone ko napansin namin na from the start ang dami ng issue.

Una pa lang alam na ni Ellie, kung ano gusto nya gawin sa buhay, walang masamang sundin ang pangarap kung kaya naman nya gawin and aware doon si Eric, pero from the start hindi sya supportive sa pangarap ni Ellie. Practical kasi si Eric kasi nga breadwinner parang iniisip nya na walang mararating yung advocacy ni Ellie. - Dito pa lang redflag na eh, ang hirap sa pakiramdam na may gusto kang gawin pero yung partner mo yung hindi masaya para sayo or di mo supporter. Mararamdaman mo na mag isa ka lang, ganon yung nakikita ko sa kanila habang tumatagal. Magkasama sila pero ramdam mo yung distance nila sa isa't isa.

Yung insecurities ni Eric na pinaghihinalaan nya lagi si Ellie about kay Dennis, pero in the end sya naman yung nagloko. Like, hindi ko gets yung ibang review or comment na parang dinismiss yung ginawa ni Eric. Consider cheating na yon kasi may actions na. Like kung walang tumawag or nangulit sa kanila, hindi lang make out ang mangyayari. - Hindi ko alam kung ganoon ba talaga kanormalize na ang cheating at kaya na patawarin agad ng marami yon, pero napapansin ko naman na kahit sa emotional cheating palang madami na hindi okay.

Pero ayon pinatawad sya ni Ellie kasi ganon naman sa reality, mag sorry lang and humingi ng second chance papatawarin. (vice versa naman yan, may babae din nagloloko at pinapatawa ng lalaki). 

Dito na papasok yung matinding away nila, yung galing reunion si Ellie. Hindi sya okay, nagheheal pa rin sya kasi nakunan sya pero as usual hindi pa rin sya naiintindihan ni Eric. Totoo yung sinabi ni Ellie na monster na si Eric kaya mas okay na nakunan na lang sya kesa magkaroon ng tatay na katulad ni Eric. Sa totoo lang eto yung nakakatakot sa relationship yung magugulat ka na lang isang araw na hindi mo na kilala yung taong minahal mo noon. Sobrang below the belt ang sinabi ni Eric. Unang una hindi sya yung nagbuntis, iba ang impact noon sa isang babae at never maintindihan yon ng ibang lalaki. Kasi kung babalikan mo yung scene after makunan si Ellie, gusto nya kagad may mangyari sa kanila. Ang insensitive non.

Mali din na sisihin ni Eric si Ellie sa lifestyle nya, kasi in the first place aware si Eric na mayaman naman si Ellie so kung yung someone mo eh willing mag adjust and tinanggap ka despite na magkaiba kayo ng status dapat ipakita mo na worth it ka sa kanya. Kaso parang nangyari si Ellie yung mas nag adjust sa kanila. Yes nakikita ko na masipag si Eric pero ginagawa nya lang din kasi yon para may ma prove something sa parents ni Ellie na magpapakasal sila hindi dahil ginagawa nya yon dahil gusto lang maging better para kay Ellie.

And lastly yung Marriage, hindi ko maintindin bakit pinipilit lagi ni Eric yung kasal like 4 years pa lang sila. Hindi pa ready si Ellie, madami pa syang gustong gawin. Madami nga na more than 10 years ang relationship pero hindi nauuwi sa kasal ang dami pa nila nadidiscover sa isat isa. Like hindi ko maintindihan si Eric bakit need nya lagi igaslight or iguilt trip si Ellie ng "Do you love me?". Hindi ata maintindihan ng mga lalaki, once ang babae nagdecide magpakasal at magkaanak madami silang isasacrifice like titigil ang mundo nila, ang lalaki tuloy pa rin sa pangarap nila. Hindi lahat ng nanay kayang magtrabaho agad dahil gusto magfocus sa pag aalaga ng anak. Meron iba pwede mag kapostpartum, like madaming pwedeng mangyari. Sa last part willing naman mag pakasal si Ellie kay Eric, sabi nya lang hindi nya nga lang magawa syang pakasalan kasi nga hindi talaga sila same ng values sa buhay and hindi gentleman si Eric.

Kaya kung makikita mo doon sa black and white na scene, si Ellie yung mas nauna pero hindi napansin kasi ganon yung situation niya kay Eric sya lagi yung naghihintay sya kasi yung mas nagmamahal makikita mo sa kanya na empathetic sya towards Eric pero hinihintay nya lang na maappreciate sya na wala syang need na iprove something para lang marealize ni Eric na mahal sya ni Ellie.

Si Eric kasi parang may condition yung pagmamahal, like masasabi nya lang na mahal sya ni Ellie pag pinakasalan sya or magkaanak sa kanya which is nakakalungkot sa movie. Parang may checklist which is hindi ganon ang tunay na genuine na pagmamahal. Dapat walang condition.

Hindi biased etong reviews ko kasi kahit partner ko bigla na lang napapareact kay Eric eh lalaki sya. Ayon napansin lang namin na sobrang daming redflags talaga ni Eric, siguro ang redflag ni Ellie ay yung wala syang boundaries, hindi sya kagad nag let go like ilang beses nya binigyan ng chance si Eric kaso wala talaga. Hindi talaga sila same values. Ganon din si Eric, kung hindi nya kaya irespect decision talaga ni Ellie sana ni let go nya na agad. Pero ganon nga siguro reality, na mahilig tayo magbigay ng chances and pag naubos na tayo doon lang tayo mag lelet go.

Kaya ayon suggest ko lang din yung Korean Movie na: Once we were us.

i watched the loved one for the first time over the weekend and here are my unsolicited thoughts about the film.

first, the whole movie is a case of incompatibility. i think the root cause talaga ng problem nila is that they were not compatible whatsoever. ellie was more progressive, proactive, outgoing, and idealistic, whereas eric was more reserved, practical, traditional, and realistic. i’m honestly surprised na in the movie they lasted 10 years because in real life they would only last for a month max.

second, i tried to be unbiased and understand both sides for most part of the movie, but in the end i was leaning on ellie.

for the marriage fight, i understand ellie not wanting to get married just yet because she wants to be something first and she didn’t see marriage as a statement to prove something to anyone. also considering na walang divorce sa pinas, it makes it more reasonable as to why you shouldn’t rush marriage either. but at the same time, eric was also reasonable to question if what they had was leading to anything ba or if they were just wasting time.

the jealousy part was fairly normal naman. i understand eric na nagseselos siya sa coworker ni ellie lalo na kung kausap mo at magkachat sila diba HAHAHA but i also understand ellie na you can be friends with the opposite gender platonically. i think it’s good to see na ellie did give assurance and somehow di naman naging controlling si eric that time.

for the reunion/party fight, i understand eric na mag-worry ka talaga if your partner, lalo na babae, is di nagcchat tapos di pa nakakauwi agad. but at the same time, calling your partner that much while they’re out at a party is too much eh. personally, i do make it a rule na if kaya mo uminom sa labas, dapat kaya mo rin umuwi mag-isa. and seeing na ellie was so drunk someone had to take her home kinda makes it hard to side on her on this one so 50/50 talaga.

third, i think the movie really shows how a relationship shouldn’t be transactional. kasi there were a lot of times where eric was keeping tabs on when he did this and did that, waited longer etc., which if you were to date someone na nagkkeep tabs on when he helped you or did more effort, nakakapagod ’yon. that is so unfair and that means you weren’t doing it out of love. you wanted to get something back. this also proves na they weren’t compatible kasi if you really were compatible, you wouldn’t have to feel like someone is overextending or lacking or you wouldn’t need to keep tabs kasi you would both meet each other halfway.

fourth, props to ellie kasi ang dami niya pinalagpas na if i were her i wouldn’t. like first date, naka-dress ako, di man lang ako sinabihan na magmomotor beforehand? that’s so inconsiderate lol. then the argument about losing the child? i would have ended it right then and there, no second chances. losing a child is not just physical but also emotional for a woman so i don’t allow that shit. syempre the cheating.

gets din naman si eric because again, realistic siya. of course he wants stability, and panganay pa siya so he probably feels like he has no time to keep exploring and being carefree forever. i think both sides, in a way, were nakakapagod mahalin. i would hate to be with someone who keeps tabs on everything they do for me, but i would also hate to be with someone who is constantly chasing “more” without considering settling down.

overall, i think they just really weren’t a match and they weren’t compatible. good movie !

I just finished watching The Cleaning Lady on Netflix and honestly the series felt incomplete. I searched about it and apparently there won’t be a Season 5 anymore. Now I’m looking for a new crime drama series to watch on Netflix. Any suggestions anyone?
