Drake Made Rap Not Be Boring?

I really hate their take on rap music was boring bc there was no "outside" music. During their review of Drake's album they talked about how music in the past 2 years was boring bc there was no ass shaking music and no outside music etc. to me, this is just a nasty and bad narrative to push. We shouldn't only champion rap music for making ppl want to party. The music was "boring" bc ppl decided to not give other ppl a chance, only wanting a particular sound to be successful. Are we only using club appeal (outside -ability) as a measure of music being fun?

This is a music podcast and they CAN make an artist and break new talent. Instead, they say there and just wanted to say no music was fun, we loved in gloom until drake appeared and brighten the hip hop music world. And as a music fan, we can't allow one artist to hold this much power. It's like when ppl said rnb is dead because Beyonce didn't release a new album, but there's dozens of new rnb albums released every month. Same with rap.

But what do I know, I'm not on a podcast nor listen to new artists regularly to be able to say there were fun rap albums released.

Do Mal get Viral on anything besides hating on Cole - Reason wasn't having none of it.

Cole not doing their Pod Really hurt him or he really love Drake

When dude checks him and says Cole has no one rapping on The Fall Off so Mal moved the goal post to "he can do hooks" 🤣🤦🏽‍♂️

Seriously though are these rage bait clips are always posted so I guess it works

“Music was boring without Drake” doesn’t hold up under its own weight because Drake never left

Mal & his kind don’t even realize this foolishness diminishes all the songs Drake has been dropping post-beef pre-iceman. I don’t want to hear SS4U doesn’t count because it was a collab because that 21 collab album “counts” & I don’t wanna hear it was an r&b album because honestly, nevermind “counts” people just won’t admit that Drake was deflated after the beef & started dropping mid. He knows that even if Aubrey’s angels don’t & that’s why these latest projects feel way more intentional & received a lot better.

This idea that the entire business is contingent on one person is a lie and it destroys the value of the industry as a whole if it becomes true. Essentially treating Drake like Amazon where he takes up all the market share, ruins smaller artists opportunities to grow like Amazon does with mom & pop stores while also allowing Drake to get away with mediocrity because all the alternatives get bought up (him appropriating sounds) or the labels just dumping money into making him #1.

Pause Worthy

Watched the pod the other day where they discussed Drake’s latest couple of albums. I truly wonder if Mal really hears himself when he speaks about Drake. Zero objectivity, just an insane amount of dick eating. Not looking for him to bash him, ruin whatever relationship is there, etc., just stop with the over the top bullshit. Remember when Khaled was on his “I like what Drake likes” nonsense? Mal is that times a million whenever anything Drake related comes up.

Rap has been boring?!

I’ve never understood this new sentiment “since Drake has been gone, rap has been boring ”. To say rap has been boring is crazy! What does that even mean when people say it or when Mal is saying at. So much great music has came out since Drake had been “gone” in all different spaces at that. Go to the club Midwest or downsouth you probably won’t even hear Drake and hear nothing but shit that get the club rocking and it’s mostly new music. NY clubs must suck. Also Mal doesn’t even go out so what does he mean it’s boring?? Am I trippen?
