Looking for a jeweller or goldsmith for repair/adjustment on a couple of gold pendants

I have a couple of 14k gold pendants with a fixed bail that's quite small. I would like to replace it with a larger bail or a jump ring.

Any local recommendations?

To the Sunday morning running group…

Leave the blue tooth speaker at home. No one was staring because they thought you looked good. They were staring at the audacity. It’s not your trail. Share them respectfully.

Fairy lake contamination update from last year.

For the first time ever I emailed somebody from the town about a concern I had, and I gotta say the response i got was great. Last week I emailed Bob kwapis ward councilor and asked for an update on last year's contamination found in fairy lake, I was waiting for an update from the paper but never saw one. 30 min later he responded that he passed my email to the proper authority, then an hour after that I got an email from Isabella from the town.

Through continued investigation we believe we have located the source of this spill, a considerable distance upstream from the outfall located on Cane Pkwy. While investigating all the upstream catch basins in February 2026, we discovered what appeared to be motor oil in the catch basin located at 71 Beswick Cres. and evidence indicated it had been dumped through the lid multiple times. We took immediate steps to clean the CB and the storm sewer from Beswick to the outfall on Cane Pkwy by flushing the sewer with high pressure water and capturing the effluent at the outfall.

We also immediately canvassed the area near 71 Beswick, going door to door to inform the local residents of the ongoing spill and advise the residents that illegal dumping is harmful to the environment and carries severe penalties upon conviction. We also encouraged all residents to report any activities that they witness related to illegal dumping to us or the Spills Action Center (MECP) asap.

Without definite evidence pointing to a specific resident, our Supervisor spoke with several residents on Beswick Drive, explaining the severity of oil spills in the natural environment, educating them that the catch basin discharges to the natural environment without any treatment, and informed them we have completed extensive cleanup efforts in the area and we will continue to monitor the area going forward. Additionally, we engaged the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) enforcement branch and asked them for assistance.

As we were unable to provide the MECP with definitive source of the spill, the MECP recently issued the attached letter to several residents on Beswick Dr., informing them of the impact of illegal dumping.

Currently we are monitoring the site on a weekly basis, and we have not found any new evidence that the spill is continuing. It should be noted, that after a rainfall event, a small trace of an oily substance may appear, this is normal as some residual product will still be present in the sewer. For this reason, we will continue to have “containment booms” near the outfall and clean up and monitoring will continue as needed.”

448 and 450 Eagle Street - end of an era?

Does anyone know if this house is up for demolition in the near future?

I did search the web. All I discovered is that this is in the Georgian style, built around 1869, and not historically designated.

I won't miss the eyesore cedar hedge out front, hahaha!

Patios?

What are the go-to patios in Aurora & Newmarket? Don’t care if it’s a chain of a mom and pop shop. Just hoping to find something that’s not looking out onto a parking lot

Thanks in advance

My mom slipped on oil at LA Fitness and staff did nothing to help her

My mom went to LA Fitness in Newmarket on Tuesday and slipped on a patch of oil near the reception desk.

Two employees saw it happen, but neither of them came over to help her. She had to pull herself up and sit on a nearby chair to check if she was injured.

While she was sitting there, the same employees went over to the spill, whispered to each other that it's slippery, and then just walked away without properly cleaning it up or asking if she was okay

It just felt really wrong, but I searched it up, and I don't think I can do anything about it. I’m not sure what the usual process is in situations like this, but when I called them they said their manager would call us back but they never did and its been 3 days.

I'm just not sure what to do, we've been going here for over 4 years and it's just so upsetting. Does anyone have any advice?
