Hey, so I’m currently processing for New York State trooper and NYS Park Police. Just finished my psych and all. I have a couple of tattoo appointments though, and obviously you have to mark down your tattoos. I haven’t gotten my background investigator yet, can I still go get those tattoos or should I wait and move said appointments. Any advice would be great thank you!
I’m thinking about joining NY State Police. The job honestly interests me a lot, but my biggest concern is placement after the academy. I’m from Westchester and worried about getting sent super far upstate for years. How much does academy performance actually affect where you get placed?
Get ready for the hardest 7 months of your lives. It’s more psychological than physical. Just have a no quit attitude and remember what brought you there in the first place. Study hard for the academics they are not to be underestimated. Flash cards, study guides whatever works for you. Make the most out of PT. It sucks but it’ll put you in the best shape of your life. The PAT is coming up and im a little iffy on my push ups. I have been practicing for a while and have made some progress. My only issue is sometimes I can do 20 and sometimes I can barely do 10. Because of this im a little anxious for the upcoming physical. My sit ups and run are great and consistent.
Anyway my question is will I have to take the written exam again if I fail or will I roll over to the next PAT/class opportunity?
Alright it’s may 20th, still haven’t received any text or email from NYSP after April 25th. At this point I’m just trusting god. Anyone else in the same boat?
Did anyone else receive an email and a text today from NYSP regarding psychological testing Appointments? This is the email I received.
NYSP: Due to the limited availability of psychological testing appointments, testing will be conducted in two phases. You can expect to hear from us by the end of June regarding your next steps and what to expect moving forward. This timeline keeps you on track for potential placement in the January 2027 class. We appreciate your understanding throughout this process.
Does this mean I’m moving forward or is it just another delayed decision email ? This is the first email I got since my PAT on 4/25.

I just got my email stating they're going to process the next cache of psych exam dates for end of June
If you got the email today I'm guessing it's because we're on the next chunk of applications they're going through now
Must be a huge amount of applicants
Also, I'm curious if the location we did out PAT has anything to with the order or if it's alphabetical
