Hey folks, we got another AMA on the docket! Dan Watters, who is writing the excellent Nightwing, will be back on this Friday, May 22 at 12 pm ET to answer all your questions about Nightwing, Batman, and whatever else is on your mind!
(This is not the AMA thread, it'll go up on the day of).
This is kind of an out there question, but I was discussing the various changes of DC characters race and ethnicity with my dad, and he mentioned that he remembered Dick being Filipino. Supposedly, this would’ve been mentioned once in a run from 95-97ish, when there was a Filipino writer or artist working on it. Both of us have tried searching, but have not been able to find the excerpt we are looking for.
If anyone else remembers this, or even has an image of the panel, I would love to know.
Batman and Robin are already established as a crime-fighting team in Gotham, but new trouble is brewing. A group of street kids begins causing chaos across the city, forcing the duo to investigate who is behind it and what is driving them. The mystery points to a larger force pulling the strings, setting up a new challenge for both heroes
Covers by Hayden Sherman, Dustin Nguyen, and Marc Silvestri and interiors by Chris Samnee.
Anyone able to help recommend/persuade me on what book/books to pick up next.
I’ve recently read the long Halloween and Nightwing year one. I am currently half way through the prince of Gotham omnibus and have been loving it!
But I’m now stuck on what to pick up next the options I’ve been thinking off are
Anyone able opinions or other options would be much appreciated!!

DC has announced Batman & Robin: Year One – Dynamic Duos, a new 12-issue monthly series from Mark Waid and Chris Samnee, set to launch August 12, 2026.
The series continues the story of Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson following their earlier Year One run, digging deeper into the early days of the Dynamic Duo.
"A key element of the new story is Catwoman’s role in complicating the partnership between Bruce and Dick. Year One focused on the pair learning to live and work together, this next chapter introduces tension".
“Dick’s still too young to understand why Batman doesn’t treat her like every other Gotham criminal, while Catwoman sees this little Robin punk as an obstacle to overcome if she wants to land her next big score…which might involve getting close to Batman! And chaos ensues.”

WATTERS AND COWAN EXPLORE MORE FOLKLORE! There have long been legends of something bestial lurking in the forests just outside of Bludhaven . Some say it's demonic. Others think it's extraterrestrial. When a trail of violent incidents seems to connect this creature to the city's new super-highway, Nightwing resolves to get to the bottom of it. What he uncovers will bring one of his Titans teammates to Bludhaven , looking for some long-overdue closure...

Tim was there to stop him the first time (GK came out October 18, 2000) but was too late the second one (JLL came out November 7, 2001).
But hey at least when he got there he tried to stop Dick...
Man needs Tim in his life fr, someone gotta stop this guy from punching villains to death😭
RRRROOOOOAAAARRRRRR! Uh-oh. That sounds like a T. rex. The World's Finest team enters the lost world of Skartaris — home of Travis Morgan, the Warlord! In a magical realm where Superman's powers are at risk, Batman and Robin trade their masks and capes for swords and sorcery!
After loving Dick Grayson since childhood I’ve finally decided to stop relying on TV, Cartoons, and YT shorts and actually picked up a comic. I just read Tom Taylor’s run through volume 3 (Battle for Blüdhaven’s Heart) as I heard that’s a great starting point without prior knowledge. I found the reading guide pinned on this subreddit, and I recognize a lot of the runs and it looks like it’ll be fun to read through! I’ve pasted the list below:
• Robin & Batman
• Robin: Year One
• Teen Titans: Year One
• Batman/Superman: World's Finest
• World's Finest: Teen Titans
• Robin: The Bronze Age Omnibus
• New Teen Titans Omnibus Vol 1
• DC Finest: Teen Titans: The Judas Contract
• Nightwing: Year One
• Batman: Prodigal
• Nightwing: A Knight in Bludhaven Compendium
• Nightwing by Peter Tomasi
• Batman Battle for the Cowl: The Complete Collection
• Batman by Grant Morrison Omnibus Vol 2
• Justice League of America: Team History
• Batman: The Black Mirror
• Nightwing: Rebirth Omnibus
• Nightwing by Tom Taylor Omnibus
• Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths
• Titans: Beast World
So, from where I’ve ended reading, I was thinking of just going back to the beginning of this list. Is that a solid plan? Is there anything missing from this list that I should add? I’m not trying to do a quick read, I’m ready to get in the weeds, I wanna know as much as possible.
Also what’s with New 52? I noticed it’s missing from the list, would that be important? I know parts of the attempted reboot are canon and others are not? I’m not super clear on the specifics, importantly in regards to Dick.
Another thing, is the Ric Grayson era included in this listing? I know this was an era people HATED, however Taylor’s run seems to be the direct aftermath of that and how it was solved so I figure it’s important to know in that regard.
Note: I have NOT read any other DC Comics. I have general knowledge of characters, I am a fan, I’ve just never gotten into the comics until now and I want to start with Nightwing.
Thank you!
Like, there was some good stuff in Absolute Batman #20 still, but it almost felt like false advertisement (since the Robins were majorly on the covers, talked about in the description of the comic issue, heavily marketed, etc.) how little they were actually in the comic issue.
I was already worried about how the Robins would be handled and treated, which I hope is well (in Absolute Batman and/or the Absolute universe in general), but I do still have my worries for various reasons, but I was still excited to see start seeing the Robins more in Absolute Batman and/or the Absolute universe. So I was disappointed with how little they actually showed up in issue #20.
I know (they better, at least) they get more good stuff, and hopefully have big(ger) roles and stuff in future issues and stuff, but I just wish they had gotten more stuff in #20. And/or I just feel disappointed with how little they actually showed up in #20, and it borderline feels like we were lied to about their role in #20. Like I said, it feels like kind of false advertising, and while I do like all the different Robins covers and stuff we got, I am not super fond of the kind of false advertising (imo) and/or almost feeling lied about about them in issue #20.
Does anyone feel any sort of similar way with issue #20 in relation to the Robins and stuff? Are you excited about more Robins stuff in Absolute universe? Worried about some stuff with them in the Absolute universe (about they will be written, treated, handled, etc.)? Some of combo of the two? Etc.?
