Resetting Hacked 2DS

I bought a refurbished 2DS off eBay. Arrived in NM condition, but jailbroken. The listing did not disclose the device was jailbroken. I don’t want my device to be jailbroken, so i tried factory resetting it but it didn’t clear it like i thought it would. Could someone please point me in the direction of how to restore normal factory settings on this device? (Yes I am aware that i am in the minority of people who don’t like jailbroken systems)

Error when booting up with Luma installed

Some time ago, I got a Nintendo 2DS XL with Luma3DS installed from a friend. The program was installed by a relative of his, but the console hasn't properly booted up for several years now.

When I turn it on, the screen lights up a bit (in the sense that it starts working), but seconds after that it gives the error message in the first picture. After looking up the problem online, two possible reasons appeared. One, it might be a problem with the camera, but when I took it to a repair shop, they told me there was no fix, with any more explanations given, from which I understand that it's not a hardware problem.

I'm don't know much about hacks or piracy, but the other reason to this problem that I found online was that it could be due to Luma3DS missing a couple files from the SD card which, in fact, was not even in. So, I firstly checked if it was installed by pressing [Select] while booting, and as shown in the second photo, it was. Then, I got an SD card, formatted it into FAT32 as said in different sources and copied the files boot.3dsx and boot.firm that supposedly were needed for Luma to load properly. Still nothing. Same error.

I've read that the problem might be caused by Luma not being updated, but really, I'd like a specific advice without touching anything that I'm not sure I should.

I just feel like there must be a way to restore it into a working state. This console has an important emotional value for my friend, and, after all this fight of waiting two months for a null professional opinion, I’m genuinely determined to fix it

So, if anyone here could/knew how to help me with this, I would be really thankful.

Am I an addict? (answer probably yes)

Bought this thing in January this year used. The original owner would get on it once every year to play 5 minutes of Mario Kart 7. All but an hour on MK 7 of play time is mine. In the span of 4 months. It is modded.

2017 is when the OG owner bought it.

Is the new2ds xl really that bad

So ive owned many 3ds/2ds consoles over the years and I wanna buy a new 2dsxl but ive seen a lot of controversy about it. I found one on Facebook that from the photos, seems to be in AMAZING condition. Im in Canada so it's in CAD, it's $280 and comes with 3 3ds games, and 1 ds game. Each game is a first party Nintendo game and I thought it was pretty worth it as a bundle, not a crazy deal but considering the 2dsxl already goes for like 300, or at least in my area the prices are crazy rn. But I see a lot of people saying it's very poor quality, this is understandable considering a lot of children will probably destroy the thing, though I am like a obsessive clean freak specifically with video games. Like ive never touched any of my consoles without washing my hands first, and in my room I keep on a dehumidifier because im terrified of my consoles getting humid and damaging. And I keep everything in amazing condition, I hate any kinda hand grease on my stuff, I was thinking if I just bought a clear case on amazon it would make it less flimsy, I wasn't worried about dropping it that much though. Or should I just hold off and buy a new 3ds or something or a 3ds xl. Ive owned 2 3dsxls before (and sold them lol) and I liked the feeling I just never used the 3d. I also have a really nice OG 3ds rn, and in my childhood I had a 2ds and ds lite.

2DS Rattling Noise

I recently bought a refurbished 2DS off ebay. Came in excellent condition with only a faint scratch on one screen & another on the front shell. I thought everything was great after testing buttons & screen, so i put a skin on it & then i realized there’s a rattling noise. I believe it’s the volume dial that is causing this. Is this normal &/or easily fixable? Or should i return it?

Help with my modded 2DS?

Hey yall, not sure if this is the right sub Reddit for this, but I need help adding games to my 2DS. I had someone that was walking me through it, but they ghosted me so now I don’t know what I’m doing. I’ve been trying to search up tutorials, but every tutorial I find just goes too fast. I need really slow step-by-step instructions because right now I have homebrew installed but I have no clue what I’m supposed to do now. I’m really frustrated and just want these games on my console already lol if anyone please help me, please let me know!!

My Nintendo 2DS Flicker ON/OFF (see video)

One idea ?

Can my 2DS start up without a battery? Just using the AC adapter?

Because, I have tried to remove the battery and put on just with AC adapter, but it doesn't work, she don't boot

It is a issue ? or 2DS does not allow this boot mode ?

2ds stuck on backlight screen

So I had this happen a couple days ago after dropping it accidentally and what I did was remove the Wi-Fi chip and put it back in, and it started turning on again just without Wi-Fi which I didn’t think was a big deal. This morning, I tried turning it back on again, and it was stuck on the backlight screen. I did the same thing again and took the Wi-Fi chip out and back in. I removed the SD card multiple times, I formatted the SD card fat 32 with 64 kB cluster sizes and moved all my files back on, and right now it’s still stuck on the backlight screen. My SD card is 64 gb and I know it’s recommended to have 32 or less but it was working just fine for like a week. So is there anything else I can do? Should I order a new Wi-Fi chip?

2DS Broken

I’m gonna try some other things first, but my 2DS is broken and I was wondering if Nintendo would get mad at me for dismantling the whole thing and basically putting it back together from scratch?

Accidentally spilled a bit of salty Walter on that thing...

So I had a glass of salty water on my desk, and accidentally spilled some of it on my 2ds... Left it out charging (since I'm using it to charge my new battery) and I came back to this...it wasn't charging, so I took it apart and found this. What do I do in that situation?? EDIT : Don't have IPA sadly...

Just got all of this for free !

So, my local game store was normally gonna give me broken consoles pieces, but since I waited for over a month he gave me the 2 DSes in pieces. The white one doesn't work (except for the screen) and the blue one had one piece missing + the R button torn off. Am I lucky orrr...

Am I screwed?

Tried to open up this 2ds and clean the inside because of how dirty and grimy it was and I broke the connector off this ribbon cable. It won’t turn on because it needs that connection to the main board so unless this can be fixed, I basically bricked my console. And tips or ideas on what to do? Thanks for any advice

Friend’s New 2DS XL doesn’t have it’s screens or sound activate

He gave it to me yesterday to fix it for him. Apparently a couple years ago, a younger sister of his absolutely bolted or thrown it onto the ground, causing the frame to form 2 major cracks near the hinge (image 2). My friend claims that the 2DS had its screen freeze more often than each of the previous times he would boot it up over the years, until the screens never activated. Upon taking the console apart myself, I didn’t see any initial problems, as all of the cables weren’t damaged and the battery wasn’t ballooned. I’ve heard multiple apparent fixes for this issue like “Hold the power button for 30 seconds” or “booting into safe mode.” I’ve tried both multiple times to no prevail, so I assume it’s an internal issue.

Next time I take it apart, what should I look for? Should I try re-attaching the ribbon cables? Should I try cleaning anything? Should I tell my friend to take it somewhere professional to get fixed? What should I do? Also: this console is not modded.
