Sony Getting Called Out Already:
Please oh please oh PLEASE let this be the first of many companies to call Sony stupid for their decision 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Seen on Facebook : 69,99€ digital VS 30€ new physical
Albums, movies, shows, games with no disc release.
Be it albums, movies, shows, or games with no disc release, has anyone considered compiling a list to check back on from time to time? I've got one I check now and then. I'll give you some TV show titles as examples:
All of Us Are Dead (12 episodes)
Lost in Space (Netflix remake, S2-3)
Stranger Things (S3-5)
Sweet Home (all 3 seasons)
The Umbrella Academy (S3-4)
I figure if there's enough demand, your favorite album, movie, show, or game might get a disc release later on. Wha'cha think?
Some Game Retailers Refuse to Sell GTA 6 Due to Lack of Disc in Physical Release
ign.comSony Fears
This announcement is scary to me as Sony has always been at the front of media production. They helped develop DVDs and Blu-Rays. So if the industry sees them saying that the future is all digital for their gaming, how long will it take for them to start mulling over the idea for movies?
Sony handles disc production for the movies of multiple studios. What if they convince Disney’s people that physical releases of films aren’t worth it anymore?? Suddenly I can’t pick up anything Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm, 20th, or Searchlight!
Physical media sales for film have been pretty decent in the recent years still, but they’re less than what they used to be prior to 2020. A move like Sony’s (if they truly follow through) could be blood in the water for all these greedy corporations.
I hope I’m wrong. I hope Sony gets cold feet if the protesting is loud enough. And I hope that other media companies recognize this as a stupid move rather than as an example to follow.
It Was My Hobby 😭
I'm 35. I've been collecting games since the PS1 era. This hobby has bought me so much joy since I was a little boy. Its got me through some dark times too.
Nothing really replaces the excitement of going to my local game stores on a saturday morning and having a browse and hopefully picking up a new game. Its part of my life.
How long can my local indie store stay afloat if nobody makes new physical games?
My wife and I are trying for a baby and I was looking forward to sharing this hobby with him or her.
Fuck you sony and all you other greedy game corporations who don't give a damn about the human cost of your awful descisions.
I'm heartbroken.
Here for the movies. What's your collection?
Here's my physical collection so far, it's my pride and joy

This is so messed up
The announcement that Sony is going all digital really saddens me. They’re basically taking away a huge part of what makes gaming fun for me: collecting games.
