Don't trust the steam survey.... The future feels bright for us 😁!!!! ☀️ 🌞

Anybody that's concerned about the percentage of users going down with regards to the steam hardware survey remember these things:

That's chosen at random. Other things you need to take into account is if you were to combine Chrome OS with Linux because it is pretty much Linux it would sit at about 15 to 20% of the entire personal market. You'd also need to remove call centers, offices and internet cafes throughout the entire world. When those surveys are done each computer in those call centers and cafes are counted individually. Unless I'm wrong and somebody will tell me "well actually"

Audio Production on Nobara?

Anybody using Nobara for audio production? If so you mind sharing any tips or tricks for setting it up for low latency recordings? I’ve attached my GitHub page where I’ve made my initial installer script that will install Ardour ( my daw of choice) along with plugins and some tuning for latency. Would anybody have any suggestions on what to add or change on my installer?

I refuse to accept modern minimalism. Instead I embrace complete 2000s Y2K Aesthetic maximalism. I'm glad Linux just lets me do this with minimal effort.

Just made the switch, love the OS but have some really nasty issues I need help with.

I switched from Windows 11 to Nobara using the Official NVIDIA ISO on my Alienware m15 r7 AMD laptop. I have some key issues that I really need help with as someone new to Linux. I am getting very inconsistent behaviours when booting. Sometimes when shutting down/restarting it will hang on grey terminal screen and force me to hard power off the device. I have an external monitor connected via HDMI that will sometimes work fine upon booting, but other times it will just not be detected at all by my laptop. If I boot without it plugged in and then plug the monitor in it will sometimes just not register it at all and other times it will just freeze my entire laptop and force another hard power off. When it is in its working mode, if I ever switch HDMI it will either freeze again, or completely disconnect until I reboot in its “working” mode again. Whether it is working or not feels completely random to me. When it is working, typing nvidia-smi into the terminal will produce the expected table but the second I plug/unplug/change HDMI input on the monitor it will output “No devices were found”. Another issue is with sleep mode. When I close my laptop screen and reopen it the lights and fans are still on but it will refuse to display anything other than a black screen or register any inputs until I hard power off. I have tried reinstalling graphics drivers and such for a while now but I am not really too sure where else to start.

Aplication stores error

Hello, I did a fresh installation of Nobara 43 on a friends computer and we had a problem, the new iso doesn't have Flatpost and it only offers two application stores, Bazaar and Snap Store.
None of them completes installation, the system says it finished and it's supposedly installed but they don't apear.
I tried updating the flatpack repository, updating the system and tried to download and manually install flatpack downloaded from Flathub and I always have an error message.
I'm about to look for an iso of Nobara 42, install and update from there because v43 has clearly an issue with those two stores.
I run Nobara since v41 and have no problems at all.
Any help will be appreciated

How to install .rpm files?

New to this distro (and Linux in general). Was attempting to find a way to configure my desktop like on my M$ box with fancyzones/plasmazones. I donwloaded the plasmazones rpm, and dragged it into the DNF App Center, but it appears to be missing some dependencies? Am I installing (or trying to install) this correctly?

Secure Boot Question

So, I have had Nobara for a while but I made sure Secure Boot was off whenever I boot into it as the docs say it doesn't work with it, but recently I've had it on and forgot to turn it off when booting into Nobara, and it... seems to be fine? I saw there were workarounds on getting it to work, but I never did any of that. I don't see any major performance issues in games either? Is there something that I'm missing, why is it just working fine ?

Need to know if switching from W11 to Nobara is the right choice

I was planning to install Nobara tomorrow, i have been using copilot to bounce of my questions wich led me to believe Nobara was the right choice, claiming i could force global FSR4 using Gamescope and everything would run smoother

Now i am seacond guessing the decision after running the conversation by Gemini as it's advice and facts/recommendations are very different.

I need some humans to help me evaluate and tell me what is the right move here, posting gemini's response below

I recommended staying on Windows 11 because Linux cannot run your Lian Li L-Connect 3 software natively, which directly breaks your primary goal of controlling fan curves based on GPU temperatures. [1]

Additionally, your Ryzen 9 9950X3D utilizes a complex dual-CCD design that relies heavily on Windows-exclusive drivers to guarantee peak gaming performance.

Here is the exact technical breakdown of why Windows 11 remains necessary for your specific hardware goals.

  1. The Lian Li Fan Curve Roadblock

Your main requirement is tying your Lian Li fan speeds directly to your GPU's temperature.

L-Connect 3 is Windows-Only: Lian Li does not develop software or drivers for Linux.

The Linux Alternative is a Project: To control your fans on Nobara, you would have to use community-driven command-line tools like CoolerControl. While excellent, these tools often struggle to read proprietary USB controller data from newer graphics cards like an RX 9070 XT. If the software cannot read the GPU sensor, your fans will default to a flat, unsafe speed.

[1]

  1. The 9950X3D Core Allocation Problem

Your processor has 16 cores split into two separate 8-core dies (CCDs). Only one of those dies features the gaming-focused 3D V-Cache.

Windows Automation: Windows 11 co-developed a specific AMD chipset driver that works with the Xbox Game Bar. The exact microsecond a game launches, Windows automatically parks the standard cores and forces the game entirely onto the 3D V-Cache cores.

Linux Manual Tweak Fatigue: The Linux kernel is highly efficient, but it lacks an automated, foolproof equivalent for day-one dual-CCD X3D chips. Games will frequently spill over into the standard cores, resulting in micro-stutters and a noticeable drop in your 1% low frame rates unless you manually bind the game processes using launch arguments.

  1. Early X870E Platform Bugs

Your ASRock X870E Nova is a top-tier motherboard, but the X870E chipset is still relatively fresh. Motherboard manufacturers focus their engineering teams entirely on fixing Windows stability bugs first. Running a massive 64GB array of DDR5 at 6000MHz via EXPO requires rock-solid BIOS and memory controller stability, which is significantly more prone to random kernel panics and sleep-mode crashes on Linux during the first year of a motherboard platform's life cycle.

If you still want to dual-boot Nobara Linux on your second 4TB M.2 SSD just to experiment with it safely without deleting Windows, would you like me to walk you through how to configure that safely?

High idle temps on secondary M.2 slot - ASUS TUF F15 FX506H (GM7 NVMe, Sensor 2 60°C)

Hi, I've been testing Nobara Linux a bit and I have a question about the temperatures of my secondary NVMe drive, which is the one running Nobara. When idle, sensor 1 reads 40° and sensor 2 reads 60°, and under load, they don’t go above 47° and 68°, respectively. I also tried running in ECO mode, but the temperature didn’t drop much; in Turbo mode, it usually drops to 55°. I just want to know if that temperature on sensor 2 is normal or if there’s anything I can do to improve it besides adding a heatsink, since I had a problem with another NVMe drive that reached almost 90° while idle on a different Linux distribution. My current NVMe is a Predator GM7. I also noticed that my laptop model, the Asus TUF F15 FX506H, has ventilation issues in the bay where that NVMe is installed.

Problem with DaVInci Resolve 21 on Nobara

My microphones inputs labeled ALSA. I tried to install pipewire and pulse in order to fix the issue, but it stays the same. And I could technically experiment and search for the one out of 8 ALSA's that is my mic, but I want also use virtual cable from my OBS because of the filters on the mic. On Windows DaVinci works perfectly, which upsets me, cause the whole purpose of me using Nobara was gaming and editing, but now here and then I encounter so many obstacles, it's actually frustrating. I'll be glad for help, thank you
