Is your product no longer what you expected?
It still works. Users can sign up, core features are there, and the team shipped consistently. But somewhere between the first sprint and now, the thing you built stopped being the idea you had in mind.
The thing is probably nobody made a bad decision, and that's what makes it hard. A feature got added because a user suggested. The roadmap shifted to fix something urgent. A competitor launched something and the pressure to respond felt real.
But direction drift doesn't announce itself. It just quietly accumulates until one day you're three steps removed from the original problem you set out to solve. And now the product feels harder to explain than it used to. That feeling is worth paying attention to because catching it early is a lot cheaper than where it goes if you don't.
Before you think about rebuilding, replacing the team, or scrapping the roadmap; go back to the original problem. Write it down in one sentence. Then look at what you've built and ask honestly whether it still solves that. Most of the time, the gap is smaller than it feels. But you can't close it until you know exactly where it is.
