How good is living in Caen? How good reputated in Uni Caen Normandie?

Hello! I am going to apply for an Erasmus program in France and I have two options for that. First one is Caen and the other is Lyon.

From what I see:

-Caen has very slow life and cozy options with it's cold winter/

-The Univérsite Caen Normandie has barely enough informations about that. I am unsure picking that as an Erasmus program since I am from Vienna, Austria and it looks like it is not worth.

-I am lore like a guy who generally lives near the city centre (including the markets nearby matters), so I should not be isolated.

-How good is living the city centre? - Is it a problem that the Univérsite is located outside of city centre, is it bad?

Lyon;

-Arguably the second good city after Paris, or even better for some people:

-Too crowd for it's landmass?

-Univérsite Lyon 2 has better reputation than Caen Normandie Uni?

I am open to all any kind of things, please give me some advice, I am out of my mind.

Visiting Cherbourg for a week

Hi! Me and a few friends are visiting Cherbourg from Sweden for a roughly a week (sunday to thursday). We have most of our days planned, but our evenings are still open. We have heard we must try the seafood and cider and we are looking for tips for places to eat or things to do.

Affordable restaurant options? Grocery options?

Bonjour—we will be staying in Deauville in July and are looking for some affordable (~€20) restaurant/cafe recommendations (we are Canadian so everything is basically double for us. A €20 dish = $40) . We will have 3 teens (18,15,12) who aren’t overly adventurous eaters.
Also are there any grab and go meals at a grocery store in town (premade sandwiches or salads etc)
Merci!

Normandy base for 3 nights/4 days?

Hi everyone! I’m planning my first trip to Normandy and I’d love some advice on where to stay.
I’ll be there for about 3 nights / 4 days at the end of August or the beginning of September, and I’ll have a car. I’m interested in both history and nature, so I’d love a base that makes it easy to do day trips, visit historical places, and also go for some nice walks or hikes.
Since it’s my first time in Normandy, what city or town would you recommend as the best base? And are there any things I should know that aren’t immediately obvious for this time of year?
Thanks so much in advance!
