Norfolk Broads - boat holiday + pub recs

Me and my partner are in our early thirties and visiting the Norfolk broads over 4 days and nights on a boat holiday. It's our first time there, and effectively we want to visit beautiful pubs with great vibes (and food if possible), go on nice walks, drink good wine and just watch films on our boat and be in nature.

It would be great to know of any must-visit pubs or stops - we will be starting at Stalham! Any tips would be fantastic.

This time in 7 days Anglia Square was shut officially

At 8:00 AM on Tuesday 26th August 2025 DSM closed the gates to the public walkthrough in Anglia Square. The due date for demolition to have finished was at the end of May earlier this year. But.... 3 months later and we find that almost half of the area is still there! (This video was taken yesterday on the 18th of August 2026)

Parking tickets making me sad

Can I get any advice from people who live in NR1 on avoiding parking tickets? I’m near King’s st and I can’t get a permit for my address. In the last 5 weeks I’ve had 5 parking tickets (£25 per ticket), which is still at least half the amount it would cost to buy a season ticket for Rouen Road or Rose Lane. I sometimes see people advertising their parking spaces but they ask for so much, there’s one currently for £216 a month! It seems like the most cost effective option is taking the loss on parking tickets, but starting the day with that little yellow square makes me rage! Do I just need to accept it?

I’m planning to cycle the full Rebellion Way solo and would love to hear from anyone who has ridden it recently.

Anything you wish you’d known before doing it?

Norwich South Data Centre Sell Out

According to Companies House, Shard Capital have taken a controlling stake in Norwich Apex who are trying to get planning permission to build a huge, noisy and inappropriate data centre near to Marston Marshes. This DC is 20m tall, that’s 6 storeys though they claim it’s only 2. But it’s 2 data centre storeys plus a whole load of chillers on the roof and diesel generators around the data centre that will sound like Harley Davidson’s when they start up every few weeks

Best place for breakfast near UEA?

I am moving out of my UEA accom tomorrow at 8am (ridiculously early!) and my mum is coming to help move some of my stuff. We want to go for breakfast somewhere nearby - any recommendations? I'm quite fussy with 'fancy' food, and she's vegetarian, but we're willing to give somewhere nice a go! I dont have loads of money, so nothing where i'll have to sell my soul for a decent bit of bacon please! We both drive, and have our cars, but no where too far out of the way would be preferable

thanks all :)

Are there any good bars/pubs in the week in Norwich?

I’m staying in Norwich for work until the end of the week, and interested if there are any decent places to go for a drink in the city.

Spent a few nights here a few years ago, but always on the weekend. Unsure if there’s anything going on in the week!

Possibly relocating for my partner's work - any companies I should avoid applying for work through?

As title says, my partner may have a new job in Norwich which is our dream city. Unfortunately, my job is with a council in our current hometown, so due to various guidelines I won't be able to keep my job if we move. This means Im back on the job market. For mortgage purposes having a job is more important than holding out for a job in my current field. Without going into detail, my most likely transferrable skills would be administration, data analysis, and regulatory compliance. Are there any companies in Norwich that I should NOT apply for positions with? Any companies that are known for screwing over their employees or potential employees? I don't want to waste valuable time on applications or thinking that I have a job secured when it might all come crumbling down.

EDIT: Thanks all! Just to re-clarify I'm looking for places to NOT apply to and to avoid. I will of course be applying for jobs in my current sector, and have already applied for council and public services positions.

Why so many people outside the Bell earlier?

Why were there a swarm of kids running around and in and out of the Bell Pub earlier? Couldn't work out what was going on!

How bad are the front seats Odeon IMAX?

Pretty much the title. I have seen images of other IMAX cinemas and the pretty funky distortions seen from the front seats but wanted to know if anyone had experience at the front of the Riverside IMAX screens and if they were as bad as others given that I haven't watched a film in IMAX there since before the refurb. Thx :-)

Where's best for a single night of camping?

Just trying to find somewhere to go camping with my daughter for a night, but most places seem to be expensive or require at least 2 nights.

Where does everyone go?

Wedding dress help

I already have my wedding dress but I want it dyed, does anyone know of a local place that can dye it for me? I really don't know if this is a real thing but I have my fingers crossed that it is.

Is this legal?

Just got these bits of paper through my door. Someone obviously objects to an abandoned pub (it's been empty for three years which curiously isn't mentioned) being turned into a mosque, so they've made one piece of paper addressed to the council, with space for you to fill in why you object to it, and the other bit of paper has reasons to object that it recommends you 'put into your own words', I guess to make it less obvious that this has been done this way.

My main problem with it is that there's no sign at all of who this is from, who is trying to organise it, or who came and put it through my letterbox. I'd assume if they had no shame about it they'd identify themselves, but they understand that it's wrong so kept it anonymous. As soon as it came through the letterbox I went outside to see who was doing it but they had already gone.
