OFWs, aside from family, what do you miss most about the Philippines?

Hi everyone,

Aside from family ( because I imagine that would be the answer for many people ) what are the things you miss most about the Philippines while living abroad?

I’m curious about the smaller everyday things: sounds, routines, places, celebrations, conversations, habits, or moments that people outside the Philippines might not fully understand.

What is the first thing that comes to your mind?

I’m not an OFW myself, but my wife is, and I’m genuinely curious to hear what other Filipinos living abroad feel and miss the most.

Thank you.

May chance pa ba akong makapag-work abroad for office-based jobs?

Hi everyone!

Need lang sana ng advice. 🥹

I have almost 3 years of experience as an HR sa isang secondary private hospital here at our province. Most of my work involves recruitment, and basic data entry/administrative tasks.

Gusto ko talagang mag-work abroad, pero I'm not limiting myself to HR roles. Okay lang sa'kin office-based jobs like admin assistant, receptionist, secretary, customer service, or similar positions.

I've been applying through agencies and websites like WorkAbroad for quite some time now, pero so far wala pa rin akong narereceive na feedback or interview invites. Kaya napapaisip ako if may chance ba talaga ako or baka hindi enough yung current experience ko.

Sa mga nakapag-work abroad, especially sa office-based roles:

  • May similar experience ba kayo before?
  • Anong country kayo nakapag-work?
  • Agency ba or direct hire?
  • May ginawa ba kayong certifications or upskilling bago kayo natanggap?

Okay lang if magiging realistic kayo. I just want to know if worth it pa bang ipagpatuloy yung pag-aapply or if mas okay munang mag-gain pa ng experience dito sa PH.

Any advice or shared experiences would really help. Thank you! 🙏

UAE WORK

Help me out

I'm female, in my mid 20's, decided to work abroad (taiwan as f.w), almost complete na sa requirements and will report to different agencies next week for interview and screening.

May dilemma lang ako if i should still go and i need help/advise.

Concern: May breast lump ako. Never ako nakapagpacheck-up. I did my research about this, which i know not enough to self diagnose.

help me decide

I am a Registered Electrical Engineer in the Philippines and currently work as a Maintenance Engineer for a company. My salary is only enough to cover my basic living expenses and occasionally treat my parents.

I decided to apply for a job in Taiwan, and I received an offer for the position of Engineer Operator at Wistron. However, the salary offered is the same as that of a regular operator.
I am unsure whether I should continue with my application or if it would not be worth it after my contract ends.

Need helo for Direct Hire Process via DMW

So si Baba ay may sariling construction company po Qatar-based. May ready-visa raw po sila na pwedeng ipangalan sa akin so I can work at Baba's company.

Kaso ang ginawa nilang process sakin is via DH pathway, ni-revoke ni tita ang deal with the agency kasi sobrang mahal daw ng fee at the expense of the employer if via DH pathway po ako ipa-process.

Dahil dito, minessage ni tita itong commentator, let's call her Rich. Nagkausap si tita at si Rich and ni-recommend ni Rich yung POEA Laiason daw nila before, let's call her Ms. Chel.

Option 3: I went to DMW office yestereday para po sa makapag-inquire regarding the direct hire process. Kaso nung lunch break ko sa office ako pumunta sa DMW eh kaya lang sakto nag-lunch break rin silang lahat so wala rin ako ng nakausap, i need to go back to the office rin kasi one hour lang ang breaktime ko. Now, nagresearch ako sa DMW website, i found a manual about this Direct Hiring process using my E-reg account lang.

P.s. attachdd photo is from Ms. Rich and Ms. Chel na need daw namin i-accomplish.

HIV positive going abroad

  1. Matatanggap pa kaya ako sa ibang country through agency?
  2. Makakapasa ba ako sa medical?

Direct hire to Ireland then employer asked me to go through an agency

Hello po!

May naka-experience na po ba nito?

I'm an allied health worker directly hired by a public organization sa Ireland. I already have most of the requirements completed (CORU, Employment Permit, and I'm currently waiting for my Ireland entry visa). At the same time, I'm processing requirements for DMW direct hires.

My employer informed me that they are unable to provide some of the documents required under the Direct Hire process, nakipag usap na daw sila sa DMW kaso walang other way. As an alternative, they suggested that I work with a recruitment agency to assist with the processing, and they are willing to reimburse the cost.

Has anyone gone through a similar situation na meron ng employer & visa and just needed an agency to help with DMW processing? How did it work? Any agency recommendations din would be appreciated. Thank you!

Applying for abroad (Taiwan prio)

Hello po. First time ko mag-a-apply for Taiwan and gusto ko lang sana magtanong sa mga may experience at may idea sa pag-aasikaso including selection.

Balak ko kasi kumpletuhin muna requirements and almost lahat naman e, maaasikaso ko since accessible sa akin.

Ia-accept po kaya nila kapag:

  1. College Undergrad (1st year)

Philippine bank OFW remittance upper limit

May idea ba kayo how much is the upper limit ng mga banks sa Philippines in terms of receiving remittances abroad? Normally kasi I only remit a certain amount once a month and I was thinking of increasing it.

Give up sa life.

I just want to disappear, maybe a comfortable life isn't for me that's why I'm like this, I don't have confidence in myself anymore, it's better to just disappear because it's all my fault that's why I'm like this.
