How does it feel as an OFW

How does it feel as an OFW that Philippines is the only country being left out in economy and life.

After coming back from MY, SG, IDN, TH, feels like PH has really gone to shit and that there’s no more hope for this broken ass country.

Just my input..

Is this Kuwait job offer worth it for a first-time OFW?

Hi everyone! This would be my first time working abroad for a Guest Service Attendant position at an amusement park in Kuwait and would like to ask for your honest opinion.

The offer is:

Basic salary: 160 KWD/month

Accommodation allowance: 50 KWD

Food allowance: 25 KWD

Transportation allowance: 25 KWD

Total package: 260 KWD/month

I’m also supporting my parents financially, so being able to save and send money home is very important to me.

For those currently working or who have worked in Kuwait, is this a reasonable offer for a first-time OFW?

I would really appreciate any advice, especially from Filipinos working in Kuwait. Thank you!

Friendship admin after moving abroad

What's your experience with keeping / nurturing friendships after moving abroad?

I myself (35F) have been away for nine years, and admittedly I haven't been the best at staying in touch. I've drifted away from most of my friends na nasa Pinas.

Every now and then I will message some of them para mangamusta or to schedule a video catch up, pero napapansin ko na ako lagi nag-iinitiate rin 😅 Pag di ako nagrreach out, wala rin mangyayari. But I suppose out of sight, out of mind?

Would appreciate hearing about everyone's experience, tips for maintaining long-distance relationships, and if you also find yourself being the initiator (para malaman ko kung ako lang ba problema hahaha).

How would u feel if an ext. fam member fr the Ph asked 2 stay w u abroad 4 a few months to job hunt?

I've been job hunting here in the Philippines pero to no luck talaga as I've been getting rejections left and right.

Pero gusto ko sana matry humingi ng request sakanila if pwede ako magstay sakanila for a few months and maybe try my luck there. From what I know, they're not financially struggling naman, so maybe pwede maaccommodate ako. Di naman ako magpapabigat. Maghahanap naman po ako ng work, and di ko po ipapasalo sakanila mga need ko gastusin for job hunting. Gusto ko lang magkaron ng chance to work and maybe live in a first-world country.

For anyone out there living abroad, if an extended family asks you for this kind of favor, would it be alright with you? Or wag ko nalang pangarapin? Baka maging pabigat lang? What are the things I should think about or consider first? Di naman ako magpaparefer sa job or anything, as in kahit accommodation lang sana and maybe support muna for living expenses. Thank you!

Nurse in Germany

Hello! Any nurses here na nasa Germany? I'm seriously considering to apply. This might be my last chance since I'm already 39 and clinic experience mainly dito sa Saudi. P

Any recommended agency? I tried checking sa facebook ng mga postings pero naguguluhan ako sa layout ng search results haha.

Also, if it's okay, can you share your life and work experience so far? How's the people, culture, weather, workplace? Would love to hear some pros and cons.

Thanks in advance sa mga sasagot.

How do I land a job overseas?

Hi! I’m a 22-year old fresh grad. I have a communication degree (focused mainly on advertising/strategic planning) and while I did graduate from one of the so-called “Big 4” universities here, I know that that has no bearing when it comes to seeking employment overseas.

I’ve been seriously thinking about working overseas. The job market here feels incredibly saturated, and I’m worried that it could take me quite a while to land a role that pays enough for me to eventually support my family the way I want to.

For those who have successfully moved abroad for work and/or from a communications, advertising, marketing, or similar background: How did you get started?

  • Did you apply for jobs directly from the Philippines, or did you study/work somewhere first?
  • Which countries would you recommend looking into for someone with my background?
  • Is it realistic to aim for an overseas job as a fresh grad, or would it be better to gain a few years of experience here first?
  • Are there particular skills, certifications, or types of experience I should prioritize if my end goal is really to work abroad?
  • What’s the process like?

I’m open to hearing the good, the bad, and reality checks. I would appreciate advice from anyone who has gone through this or is currently trying to do the same. Thanks!

Would like to hear stories related to what I mentioned in the title. Gusto ko kasi malaman if possible yung ganun na pathway for someone na may skilled degree pero di makapasok sa gustong industry because of competitions so had to opt for low-skilled muna. How did you guys do it? Thank you!

First trip back to the Philippines as a US permanent resident - do I need OEC/OFW registration?

Hi everyone!

This will be my first time flying back to the Philippines as a US permanent resident, and I have a few questions:

Do I need to register as an OFW? get an OEC?

Is there anything I should prepare prior to arrival in Manila?

Will there be anything different or additional I need to do when departing the Philippines and returning to the US?

Should I bring any specific documents aside from my Philippine passport, US green card?

I have been a US permanent resident since 2023 (I initially came to the US in 2017 on an H-1B visa). I haven’t had a chance to visit the Philippines partly because of COVID and all the concerns around immigration/ICE. I’m finally able to go back to the Philippines this September for a 10-day vacation. I already have my round-trip ticket, including my return flight to the US.

I’d really appreciate any advice from fellow Filipino permanent residents who have recently traveled back to the Philippines for vacation, especially re the arrival and departure process.

Thank you so much!
