Kitchener Rangers just won the OHL championship for the first time since 2008

The Rangers swept Barrie 4-0 in the finals to win the J. Ross Robertson Cup . Christian Humphreys tipped in the game-winner in the third period of Game 4 and Sam O'Reilly (who won playoff MVP) added an empty netter to seal the 4-2 win . The Rangers finished the postseason with a 16-2 record which is absolutely dominant. Their last title was 2008-18 years ago to the day actually .

O'Reilly had 28 points (17 goals, 11 assists) in 18 playoff games . That's why he got the Wayne Gretzky 99 Award. Also, O'Reilly and blueliner Jared Woolley became just the second and third players in 1980 to win three straight OHL championships . That's wild. Kitchener now heads to the Memorial Cup in Kelowna starting May 22 . Does anyone think they can win the whole thing?

The full tournament schedule and field is finally set on the CHL site here https://chl.ca/article/tournament-field-set-for-2026-memorial-cup-presented-by-kubota-with-opening-game-scheduled-for-friday-may-22/ if anyone wants to check out the timings for the round robin. Does anyone think they can win the whole thing?

still not over it

Rangers won the title and the city just won't calm down, fans stood in the rain until 2am to welcome them home. Now they're doing a whole rally before the team heads to kelowna. The golden keys are playing the mayor is gonna talk. whole team gets introduced one last time. Sam o'reilly won playoff mvp, 28 points in 18 games. Bro was just everywhere and the coach is finnish? first european coach to win an ohl title. that's pretty cool.

Should Mississauga get its ohl team back

I don't believe in an ohl team coming to Mississauga but I'm just saying should they expand to Mississauga again for the 3rd time?

The 2026 OHL Priority Selection is June 12-13. Oshawa has the first overall pick. Who should they take?

The Generals won the lottery and will select first overall at Slush Puppie Place in Kingston on June 12-13 . I've been reading up on some of the top 2010-born prospects, and it sounds like the first overall spot is genuinely up for grabs . Tanner Adams and Kane Cloutier both skipped the OHL Futures Camp but remain legitimate contenders to go first . For those who follow the minor midget circuit closely: who's your pick for 1st overall, and what makes them special?

Kitchener Rangers Interviews | Beyond the Crest

/u/kwmiers28 highlighted an interview Jeff Marek had with Matt Andonovski which has actually been part of a larger series of interviews and features on the Kitchener Rangers that is worthwhile highlighting.

It seems Jeff visited the Aud earlier this spring and took the opportunity to do some more in depth interviews that give a great glimpse into the players in a way that you don't normally see in most hockey media. They've been filtering out slowly over the past several weeks, and there might be a couple more still coming (Bilecki's is new for me), but the whole series is really worthwhile to watch.

This Rangers-Colts series is insane

Aitcheson scored with just seconds left in regulation to force overtime again, he did the same thing in game two. This guy just refuses to lose and somehow Kitchener still finds a way. Edwards scored the double overtime winner. Rangers are up three games to none now. Aitcheson has been on a tear this postseason and Hrebik stood on his head but it's still not enough. Game four is tonight in Barrie, colts need to win just to stay alive.

the colts got fined 15k for that press conference lol

I just saw the news and I'm still laughing. Barrie colts got fined fifteen grand after their post game press conference went viral. They just kept saying "no one cares work harder" to every single question after winning game seven. Coach Smoskowitz called it a mistake and apologized on tsn the next day. Still funny though, also they're down 2-0 in the finals against Kitchener so maybe focus on that now lol. For live games and threads https://www.reddit.com/live/1gvof9amespjn/
