Does changing Sunny's name make any part of the story lose its meaning?

I am sorry if this sounds like a silly question. I recently picked up this game and have been enjoying so far. I changed his name out of instinct not realising that the default name was canonical. After realising, I just decided to roll with it. However, I am slightly concerned that I may be losing some meaning in the story because of this (I know it sounds silly, but with how deep these kind of games get, it's not exactly out of the question). No spoilers please. So is the name significant, or is it really just a name?

Maybe it's a dumb question but, do you think that BASIL's house being a shoe in headspace means something?

I think it's a dying question cuz probably not but i was watching a video documentary about OMORI and then i realized when the guy said "BASIL'S HOUSE which is a shoe" i was like "...Huh"

Wow.

I know I'm late to this game. But god fucking damm it. I am crying. Genuinely crying. Not just a tear or two. Bawling. I hadn't cried in five years since my dog passed away. She was my best friend and for a while I didnt know know what I'd do without her. This game evoked so many emotions. I truly am a different person than I was before I started.

So I based most of these on the cast's Associated Animals, and a Bit on a Crest (Guess who gets which crest)
