Lucas and Brooke friendship is so cute in Season 5

I hope their friendship stays strong until the end of the series. I just love every scene of them together.

Maybe because they were married in real life, but their on-screen chemistry remains unmatched to me.

I will always wish they were endgame. He's just so much more lively around her. His eyes light up in every scene

also He supports her 100% in everything she does. No matter how crazy it may seem.

I know Peyton and Lucas are fated to be together, but it does get toxic at times. also I haven't seen them bring out eachother's “fun” side (it’s always so serious or broody) maybe my opinion will change …

Unpopular opinion: morally, I think Deb is worse than Keith, and Keith is worse than Dan

I know Dan actually killed Keith, so on the surface this probably sounds insane. But I’m ranking them based on morality, intent, and how justified each person reasonably believed they were, not simply who caused the worst outcome.

Deb is the worst.

Deb actually went through with an attempt to kill Dan. She drugged him and set the dealership on fire while he was inside. Dan was unarmed, wasn’t trying to kill her, and as far as we know had never even considered murdering her. Whatever horrible things Dan had done to her, this was still a deliberate murder attempt without Dan having first tried to kill her.

Keith is second.

Keith got drunk, bought a gun, and genuinely decided he was going to kill Dan. At that point, Dan had never tried to murder Keith either. The reason I put Keith below Deb is simple: Keith ultimately changed his mind and backed out. That matters morally. But he still got frighteningly close to committing an unjustified murder.

Dan is actually third for me.

What Dan did was obviously wrong. Keith was unarmed, Dan didn’t have absolute proof, and he executed him rather than going to the police.
But Dan also had something Deb and Keith didn’t: a very strong reason to believe his target had already tried to murder him.
Dan knew somebody had drugged him and left him to die in the dealership fire. The evidence pointed toward Keith, and Keith had plenty of reasons to hate Dan. We as viewers know Deb actually started the fire, but Dan didn’t know that.
And the craziest part is that Dan was wrong about Keith starting the fire, but he wasn’t completely wrong about Keith wanting him dead. Keith really had decided to kill Dan that same night before backing out.

So morally my ranking is:
Deb > Keith > Dan

Deb tried to murder someone who hadn’t tried to murder her. Keith planned to do the same thing but thankfully stopped himself. Dan actually committed the murder, which is the worst outcome, but he did it while genuinely and reasonably believing Keith had already attempted to kill him.
Dan was still wrong. I just think his actions were more morally understandable than either Deb’s or Keith’s.

when did you start watching one tree hill?

I didn't start watching until mid-season 3 while it was airing and I was so hooked, I bought the seasons 1,2,3 dvd box sets so I could catch up before season 4 started. Absolutely had me hooked from then on. Did you watch while it was airing or did you become a fan when it started streaming?

Nathan and Peytons friendship makes me uncomfortable

I don’t know if I’m reading too much into it but I’m rewatching the show and every time they hang out one on one after Haley and Nate got together it feels a bit weird. There’s always a comment or innuendo about the two of them and how they were together and comments or gestures that are borderline flirting. This comes from both sides btw from what I’ve noticed. I just feel like if Haley saw that she wouldn’t be okay with it and my moto is if you wouldn’t do it in front of your partner then you shouldn’t do it at all.

Season 6 needs higher ranking in the seasons to be honest

Lucas scouting for directors and casting gave us some classic scenes. Plus…

Nathan - playing in the g league and making the NBA.

Hayley - singing again

Layton - having a kid

Brulian - seeing their beginnings

There’s so much more.

Season 6 is severely underrated.

Peyton is really on one in Season 5

I’m on S 5 Ep 9 (library ep) I've never been a huge Peyton fan, but seeing her full mean girl side come out with Lindsay is insane!

Her comebacks at times are hilarious, but mostly mean.

Lindsay is actually really likable too. So it sucks

But at the same time, it’s validating (in why she was never my favorite). She kissed Lucas behind Brooke back twice! If they weren't bestfriends, she probably would've went after him sooner.

Then, did the same to Lindsay. and repeatedly keeps reminding her that she doesn't like her or throwing insults.

Telling her about the ring and proposal from 2 years ago though was cruel imo. Yes. lucas is in the wrong, but embarrassing her like that in front of all the girls…

and she just kept going! Dropped a bomb and then kept taunting her, even about her dead dad! It was hard to watch.

Whitey is the best

I watched the first two seasons when they aired. S2 aired the year I graduated so I stopped watching because I was over all things high school. 🤣🤣

I'm rewatching again, for the first time as an adult. I'm older than the parents (Karen, Deb, Scott).

Anyway.....Whitey is my favorite character.

His love story with his wife. The way he's a sounding board to his players.

I'm currently on the s2 finale. Next up, s3.

3:16 was one of the greatest episodes in tv history

okay when I say greatest I don’t mean that what happened was good by any means I just mean that it was the most brilliant episode in terms of acting and writing. especially with school shootings being such a serious and hard topic even to think about the actors did an amazing job conveying each emotion that one might feel. the most catharsis I felt was when jimmy kept pointing the gun at either Nathan or haley and how they so instinctively grabbed on to the other person really tightly and honestly you could rlly feel how much they didn’t wanna lose each other. even in the aftermath the way lucas and mouth had such different views on jimmy’s death and the way Nathan and Haley got so close because they’d realized how scared they were of losing the other person. idk i js felt all the emotions with that. thoughts?

One Tree Hill newbie - Dan Scott

So I’m a 1995 gal. Some of my friends watched the show growing up. But never watched an episode until about 2 months ago, when I randomly gave it a try on Disney Plus. I’m on season 5 now. I’ve been literally obsessed with Dan Scott since halfway through season 1. First half he was just a dick with his glory days clearly well behind him. Now, on season 5, I’m literally cheering when he comes on screen. Any other Dan Scott fans here?

I hate Peyton and Lucas

So I just started watching this show and I'm on season one episode sixteen. I HATE HATE HATE Lucas and Peyton. They take zero accountability for the cheating and both act like they're the victims in this situation.

Also dislike the way neither Karen nor Haley actually told Lucas off properly, they just let his cheating completely slide. Most of these characters are quite unlikeable and I don't know if I want to keep watching because they're insufferable.

Edit: I need to add stuff because I'm pissed off. Why is it that when Lucas was in the hospital after the car accident (also why can no one drive in this show, not driving drunk is not too difficult) Haley was worried about if HE would forgive HER? She rightfully told him that him cheating on Brooke was wrong and I understand that it's a life or death situation that makes you appreciate your existing friendships but are you serious? Haley girl, you're not the one in the wrong.

Peyton keeps asking Brooke if they're ever gonna get past this and I just keep thinking... that must have been like what? Last week? Ofc she's hurt what the hell is wrong with you? Peyton knew that Brooke was super into Lucas and she made the conscious choice to be with him, they both did. They both keep saying it "just happened" but that's not how that works. I've seen spoilers for the show and I know Brooke ends up forgiving Peyton but for the life of me I can't understand why. Have some self respect Brooke, I beg of you. You are so much better than these people.

Anyway, I love Skills and Jake, they are the best characters and I actually like them. I don't know what Dan's issue is but I think he should just die. Would be better for everyone. Haley also kind of pisses me off, she just acts so high and mighty but I still enjoy her, I think the actress is just super charismatic. Nathan sucked in the first few episodes but I actually think he's a good representation of what abuse and insane pressure can do to a kid. Let's hope they keep it that way. I don't like him necessarily but his existence doesn't bother me.

People defend Nathan too much.

Oh my gosh, I just finished the show today but over like the past month I've been slowly integrating myself within the fandom and WOW do people love Nathan Scott. I too love Nathan but gosh people are so blinded by his appearance, love story with haley, and somewhat appealing redemption arc that when he does something objectively wrong, it's completely blown over by. For instance, I see WAY too many people defend Nathan for what happened in s5 with nanny carrie; is it so hard to admit that he was just flat out wrong???? Like he literally stared at her skinny dipping in the pool whilst his wife was sleeping in the same room. Oh and he didn't immediately jump of carrie when she kissed him, as well as not immediately telling his wife that the nanny is trying to get with him. I fear a lot of the mess carrie caused could've been easily avoided had Nathan just tell Haley about her weirdness from the get. I understand a running theme in Nathan's character is that he's avoidant but like come on, it gets to a point lmao.

Also the amount of people that say "oh well Haley kissed Chris Keller"; that is SO MASSIVELY different. I'm not defending Haley in any way, but you can't justify one person's mistakes by countering them with the mistakes of a 17 year old mind you. Honestly, would you rather your s/o cheat on you when your both in high school and 17 years old or when your 21, married with a child.

Just started season 5

So I just started watching season 5 where they all have graduated from high school and the friends are on their different paths.

I already feel so nostalgic as I miss them being students and you know having their time in school. Now all of a sudden they are all grown ups and having these jobs etc. It just feels all weird.

So should I watch the rest of the seasons, are they still good?

Clay and Quinn weren’t in the wrong S7

So I’m rewatching One Tree Hill (watched in middle school and am 24 now so I didn’t remember a lot). But rewatching season 7 right now and the whole story line with Nathan losing his spot on the bobcats and Quinn and Clay being to blame is really annoying me. Specifically I just watched the episode where Quinn and Haley have that argument where Quinn says basically all Clay was doing was trying to get the best for your husband and then later in the episode Haley tells Quinn that she used to look up to her and now thinks she’s lost. This just upset me because Nathan knew that Clay countered the 2 year contract offer and then the bobcats just signed another guy. Like there wasn’t really anything Clay could’ve done and I think it was really unfair considering all he had done already to get Nathan out of that scandal with the lying girl who claimed she had an affair with Nathan and just him being a good friend. Maybe this all gets justified later because I don’t remember but this has been bothering me and wonder what yall think? Like team Naley or Quay in this situation??

Is it worth watching 7-9 if I don’t give a damn about any of the remaining characters?

I like how s6 ended. I think the whole show should have ended there. I’ve heard that 7-9 aren’t very good seasons. I don’t mind Brooke. But I don’t love her as much as Peyton. And I’ve never cared for Haley, Nathan and Jamie. So is there any point in carrying on the show?

Peyton really said 'let me suffer every possible trauma in existence' (S1-S4)

I'm watching One Tree Hill for the first time and I'm on season 4 (EP 6), and I swear I'm shocked by Peyton's whole subplot — like, everyone has their own drama, but I feel like every single one of Peyton's storylines that isn't related to high school is absolutely unhinged. It's giving:

Everyone else's storylines: breakups, absent parents, cheating, lies, teen pregnancy...

Peyton's subplot: drugs, getting shot, finding out she's adopted, her dad being permanently MIA, her biological mother dying and her being the one to find her, a stalker who almost kills her...

Did I miss anything?? Girl never got a break😭😭😭

Unpopular opinion: Peyton is over-hated 🥲.

I have rewatched one tree hill multiple times and lucas and peyton are usually the most hated characters from what I’ve seen from fans and the lucas hate is well deserved. But for peyton, I understand why she’s such a mess. Yeah no excuses for cheating with lucas on her best friend brooke, but we did find out later brooke slept with nathan while he was with peyton first to be fair.

First off- she lost her mom at a young age and her father was rarely ever around. Nathan was a terrible boyfriend to her. Shes gotten drugged and almost raped at a college party. She got introduced to cocaine. She gets bullied by felix being called a dyke. She finds out later she has a long lost brother from her real dad but was really just her stalker and her mother who raised her her whole life was not her real mom. Then she meets her real mom who dies shortly after. And her real brother could never fully be there for her even after learning of their relationship. She gets shot and almost dies. I may be missing more BUT.

This is all in high school and for a teenager is a lot to handle and I feel bad for her. She by far deals with the most life problems from any other characters on the show and because of all that I cant hate on her as much as the rest of you.

Alternative Timeline

Interesting take but I think that a lot of the off personal issues like the Creator liking Peyton cuz she was blonde and these weird 40-year-olds writing these things in hopes of being cool. Made mark want to make her the lead early on and in the lucas brooke in hopes of hooking up whooing her. Which impacted the story. They essentially had the worst creator when they shouldve wrote out the story of the main triangle and the main woman leads beforehand.

If they had more mature set I think the show would have been even better. for the personal lives of the actors actresses as well as the tension.

this would have been better for the show. 1) I think that Lucas would have been with either Haley or Brooke triangle. the other relationship would have been peyton Nathan forever the creators didn't like because of the quote/quote chemistry. This also was decided against because Haley wasn't blonde. there had to be a opposite dynamic of the two leads. and the main triangle but I think that emotionally Hillary Burton was unavailable for Luke because she simply was not his match. This was evident because there was no emotional romantic switchfootscene . there was like 5-7 of those for Brooke Lucas. There would have been that for Haley Lucas.

Now contrary to popular demand I think that haley lucas wouldve been insanely romantic. like off the charts because shes from a big family and has a lot of love to give. But doesnt have the rich guy that she wants. I think as lucas evolves over time he becomes this big time LA actor/singer something that sweeps her off her feet and his glam era is a representation of that. Its a whirlwind romance that of the tyler hilton/joy lenz dynamic but on screen. That would definitely changed the show and peyton nathan but it wouldve been incredible. I just think the off camera drama didnt lead to as creative mind in the writer room.

How realistic is it that Brooke's brand was a multi-million dollar company in 4 years?

I know it’s the early 2000's so a high career in fashion was very possible. Also, Brooke is very determined and came from money. So, I don't doubt it, but do they offer a realistic explanation to how this happened?

I'm only 30 minutes in to Season 5, but everyone else's jobs seem realistic. Hayley, a teacher. Peyton, an assistant to a music executive. Lucas, a struggling writer and coach for basketball. Idk why Skills isn't in the NBA. Also surprised that Mouth is unemployed. Waiting to see what happen to Nathan💔, but so far, that all makes sense.

Brooke, however, I'm shocked by the trajectory of a career. Did she skip college?

Edit: The fuck ass bobs everyone has, including Nathan, is killing me.

i love drama but i hate drama, should i watch this show?

i am halfway into the first season, and my biggest red flag in tv is a show not delivering in the end when youve invested so much time into the story. my problem with these early 00s teen dramas are always the:

  1. time investment the shows wants from you

  2. the show doesnt invest the same care into the story as you invest into it

as a later genz-er, its my first time watching these nearly two decades old show, and its inevitable that i get spoiled or learn things about the story that i wouldnt have been able to if i was watching this in the 00s. ive learned a bit about the off-screen drama and it seems this show has crazy potential but had an equally crazy director in mark schwahn as well as the interpersonal relationships of the cast. i dont mind the unbelievability of the story but i do mind that when i watch the story develop i know that something is only happening not because of the characters driving the plot forward but the obsessions of the director and the relationships between the cast. it makes the show feel like a mess that doesnt care for how the story may want to develop naturally/organically.

i guess what im trying to say is that the way a story progress and ends to me is very important. and if that progression is bent in unnatural ways leading to a unnatural ending, i really dont want to sink my time into the show.

jake jagielski.

okay, so i’m currently watching one tree hill for the first time and every time jake appears on my screen, all i see is john tucker. especially, especially in season 3. like, short ginger hair, a little bit of scruff and just his whole personality just screams tucker, and and he’s also a young father! how crazy is that? too bad off campus wasn’t made in the 2000s cause the actor would’ve been perfect.
yep, that’s all, just needed to say that lol

edit: please tell me someone else sees it and i’m not crazy heh 🥹
